Abstract

A nose edge of a step of a stairway is to be marked by a lighted strip which can be seen by a person going upstairs and by a person going downstairs. This is to be accomplished by a nosing bar assembly which comprises a single illuminating device and in which transparent covering means for such illuminating device are not liable to be strongly damaged or soiled. For this purpose covering for the illuminating device is so arranged below the level of the tread surface of the step that points of the surface of the covering means can be seen from a space which is disposed above the tread surface of the step and which in the downstairs direction is defined by a vertical plane which contains the front boundary line of the tread surface.

Description

The invention relates to an illuminable step edge profile with a metal profile rail which can be fastened to the step edge of a step and which is provided in a cross-sectional area below the level of the tread surface of the step with a longitudinal recess which is exposed at least in sections to the free environment in a direction with a horizontal component. with transparent covering means for covering the exposed areas of the longitudinal recess and with a lighting device provided in the recess behind the covering means and extending over the step edge length.

In a known step edge profile of this type, the metal profile rail has an approximately angular cross-section and, on its vertical leg in the position of use, has a profile groove which is approximately square in cross-section, into which a hollow profile rod made of transparent plastic is inserted, which in turn has an arrangement of miniature lamps lined up in its cavity having. These miniature lamps can be connected, for example, to a voltage of J2 volts or 24 volts, such that the step edges of a staircase are marked by light strips. The transparent hollow profile bar is in the groove of the .Metal profile rail by small cross-sectional projections on the parallel to each other

By the invention, the object is to be solved, a loading l euchtbares stages edge profile of the above-A-described rt sc configure that both for the staircase in question from bottom to top beschreitenden person as well as for a person who goes down the stairs, the step edges by a strip of light or marked by a band of light.

This object is achieved in that the surface of the covering means is arranged so that at least some points of this surface are visible from the space that is located above the tread plane and looking down stairs from a vertical plane through the front boundary the tread area is limited.

It turns out that it is not necessary to fulfill the previously specified task to equip a step edge profile with a further lighting device which is covered by covering means which are practically located in the tread of the step in question and thus are contaminated and worn or damaged by the traffic load i are exposed. Rather, it is achieved according to the invention that one and the same covering means or one and the same lighting device can be seen both by a person going upstairs and a person going downstairs, with a very simple construction being retained.

Advantageous refinements and developments of the step edge profile according to the invention are also the subject of the claims subordinate to the appended claim 1, the content of which is hereby expressly made part of the description without repeating the wording at this point.

Some exemplary embodiments are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. They represent:
  • 1 is a schematic perspective view of part of a step with an attached illuminable step edge profile according to a preferred embodiment,
  • F ig. 2 shows a representation similar to FIG. 1 of another embodiment of a step edge profile on the step edge of a step,
  • Fig. 3 is a perspective view of yet another embodiment of an illuminable step edge profile and
  • Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a short portion of yet another embodiment of a step edge profile of the type proposed here.

In Figure 1, a stone stair step is designated 1 and shown in perspective in a section containing the step edge 2. In the area of the step edge 2, a step edge profile is fastened, for example, by means of screws, not shown. The step edge profile contains a metal profile rail 3, the horizontal leg 4 is located approximately in the plane of the horizontal tread of the step 1, while a vertical leg 5 is supported with a profile nose against the vertical end face of the step 1 and in a cross-sectional area of greater strength in the level below the horizontal Tread surface with a cross section approximately square longitudinal groove 6 is provided, whose lateral P rofilwände and thus its general opening direction are relative to the vertical by 30 ° with respect to the front or, where in the specification and claims, "forward" always "downstairs looking" means.

In the groove 6 of the metal profile rail 3 a hollow profile rod 7 is pushed out of transparent plastic, whereby in the interior of the hollow profile rod, a lighting device in the form of a plurality of longitudinally of the leads 8 and 9 is iniaturlampen stringed M. The leads 8 and 9 are connected to an N iederspannungsquelle of 12 volts or 24 volts, not shown in the drawings switching means connected. To feed the B in the step edges profiles eleuchtungsvorrichtungen the steps of a staircase and an emergency generator can be used.

The transparent hollow profile rod 7 is in the groove 6 rofilvorsprünge by small P at the upper ends of the groove side walls GeSI, chert. The transparent plastic surface of the transparent hollow profile rod 7 lies in its entirety below the tread plane and is thus largely protected from abrasion and damage. Due to the inclination of the exposed surface of the transparent hollow profile rod 7 are the points of this surface which are to be regarded particularly in a suitable profiling in order to increase the scattering of light emanating from the illumination device light points of a light source itself, not only for a trep p on going person Visible from the front, but, as indicated in Figure 1 by a dash-dotted hatched field in the drawing plane, can also be seen from a room located above the tread plane horizontal plane and looking down the stairs is delimited by a vertical plane which is defined by the front boundary of the tread goes. The trace of this level in the drawing level is identified by the dash-dotted line 10, during the trace of the tread plane in the plane of the drawing: is indicated by the dash-dotted line 11. From a theoretical point of view 12, an observer can see any points on the exposed surface of the transparent hollow profile rod 7, so that the step edge appears marked by a strip of light for the person going down the stairs when the lighting device is switched on.

The embodiment according to FIG. 2 differs from the embodiment according to FIG. 1 in that the transparent hollow profile rod 7 has an essentially oval cross section and is inserted into a corresponding groove in the vertical leg 5 of the metal profile rail 3. The wall of the transparent hollow profile bar 7 which is exposed via the groove opening of the metal profile rail is formed in the step edge profile according to FIG. 2 as a longitudinal cylinder diverging lens which emits the light emanating from the lighting device inside the transparent hollow profile bar in the area in the direction of the stairs and in directs the area towards the stairs. In a modification of the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the metal profile rail 3 in the area of the groove opening and the transparent hollow profile rod 7 can be shaped such that there is a constant curved transition from the metallic surface of the horizontal leg 4 downwards over the surface of the transparent hollow profile rod to the lower one. the groove 6 delimiting profile part results and grooves or depressions are avoided in which dirt can settle.

With regard to the area in which the surface of the transparent hollow profile rod is visible from a point 12, the situation in the embodiment according to FIG. 2 is similar to that in the embodiment according to FIG. 1.

This has the consequence that the area shown in dash-dotted lines in FIG. 3, in which surface parts of the transparent hollow profile rod 6 are visible from a point 12, is comparatively narrow and steep, which, however, in many cases, in particular in the case of short stairs, can suffice. The advantage of the embodiment according to FIG. 3, however, is the better protection of the surface of the transparent hollow profile rod from dirt, damage and abrasion with respect to the orientation of the groove for receiving the hollow profile rod 6, since the comparatively sensitive surface of the transparent plastic of the hollow profile rod 6 is almost completely under which the groove 6 is located upwardly delimiting profile flange.

If the staircase in question is not an area exposed to heavy soiling, upward-facing surface areas of the hollow profile rod 6 made of transparent plastic can be exposed via additional openings 13 lying alongside one another along the step edge, which open upwards towards the tread surface and are perceived by the person going down the stairs as a series of points of light.

A similar impression arises not only for the person going down the stairs, but also for the person going up the stairs when using a step edge profile according to FIG. 4, in which the metal profile rail 3 has an essentially angular cross section and is provided in the corner region with a bore running parallel to the step edge. through which a transparent hollow profile steel 6 with an annular cross section is pushed. Located in radial planes to the axis of the mentioned bore, oblique incisions are provided alongside the step edge in the metal profile rail 3, which can be seen from FIG. 4 and which extend onto the longitudinal end Hit the hole and expose parts of the surface of the transparent hollow profile rod 6, these parts being exposed by the oblique incisions for the observer walking up the stairs and the observer walking down the stairs and perceived as light sources when the lighting device is switched on. The depth of the oblique incisions designated by 15 in FIG. 4 is selected so that a deposit of dirt between the surface of the hollow profile rod 6 and the base of the incisions 15 is avoided.

It should also be mentioned that in the embodiments according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the cover means can also have the shape of a transparent plastic strip, below which the lighting device is located in the profile groove of the metal profile rail 3 and is inserted directly into this profile groove. Instead of the lighting device that can be switched on and off, a fluorescent fill can also act in certain cases to adequately mark the step edge. The phosphor can be provided either in the cavity of the hollow profile rod or in a filler strip for the profile groove itself.

In diesem Sinne kommt dem Wort "Metallschiene" in dem vorliegenden Text eine allgemeinere Bedeutung zu.Finally, it should be pointed out that although the description and claims speak of a metal profile rail, a plastic rail made of particularly hard and resistant plastic, which need not be transparent, can also be used at this point. In this sense, the word "metal rail" has a more general meaning in the present text.
