Garantieband an einem BehälterverschiussGuarantee tape on a container closure
The invention relates to a guarantee band on a container closure made of plastic, at least this guarantee band being heat-shrinkable and being connected to the closure via a plurality of webs which adjoin the front edge of the closure and run parallel to the axis of rotation of the closure and from there in its outer diameter over a part of its height either constant or then different over several sub-areas, but also constantly increasing within each sub-area.
As is well known, the purpose of such guarantee strips is to indicate a first opening, namely an unauthorized one, either by destroying the guarantee band or then by tearing the webs that connect the closure.
It is important for closures that are made of thermoplastic plastic to use such a plastic that is also heat shrinkable. In the case of the bottles for which these closures are primarily intended, the container neck usually has a slightly smaller diameter than the area immediately adjacent to the container mouth. The closure is matched to the normally standardized bottles in such a way that the guarantee band fits tightly on the bottle neck with the smaller diameter after it has been put on and heat shrunk. When the closure is opened, there is therefore inevitably an expansion of the guarantee band and thus the above-mentioned tearing of the connecting webs.
If these webs are now formed in direct continuation of the wall of the closure encompassing the container mouth on all sides, that is to say run parallel to the axis of rotation of the closure, they must have a smaller thickness than the guarantee band adjoining them in order to fulfill their purpose. This must have a certain strength; The amount of material required for heat shrinkage also plays a role. This causes the thickness of the Guarantee band increases from the webs. However, because when the finished closure is removed from the injection mold, during the so-called removal, the closure is ejected in the direction towards the thinner webs, it follows that the mold forms a so-called undercut there. The thicker guarantee band must therefore be forced past that part of the mold which has a smaller diameter there in order to form the thinner webs. This squeezing past is possible thanks to the elasticity of the plastic, so the guarantee band is compressed during this process, but then widens again to its original diameter. However, this movement is only possible if the cross section of the guarantee band increases steadily in at least a part of its height, ie if it is triangular at least over part. If it were rectangular, that is to say provided with a shoulder running radially to the closure, which adjoins the webs at a right angle, only a split injection mold could be used, which would slow the production process inadmissibly.
Diese Entformungstechnik ist weltweit bekanntIt can thus be seen that this constant cross-sectional expansion of the guarantee band is an inevitable necessity. Even the angle between the outside and the inside of the guarantee tape must not exceed a certain dimension, otherwise the axial demolding forces will be so great that the webs will tear off. This slow increase in the outside diameter, or in other words, the conical shape of the section of the guarantee band adjoining the webs, can in no way be avoided; it results inevitably from the need to remove the finished closure from the injection mold in the axial direction in such a way that the actual closure is at the forefront during this movement, followed by the webs and the guarantee band. This demolding technique is known worldwide

O and not just limited to closures. Viewed from the product alone, the guarantee band could in and of itself have a completely rectangular cross-section, with the shoulder already mentioned. But then, as already indicated, a divisible form would have to be used, which is completely out of the question for this product for price and other reasons.
However, one possibility still remains to design the cross section of this guarantee band over its entire height in such a way that it obtains an optimal shape for the heat shrinkage. In this regard, the already known, practically only triangular cross-sections are disadvantageous because the material is not optimally distributed.
This is where the invention comes in. It wants to create a guarantee band, which is to bring about a mass concentration in that region of the guarantee band which is most affected by heat shrinkage, in order to bring the band completely to the bottle neck and thus below the larger mouth region above it lay.
According to the invention, such a guarantee band is characterized by the features of claim 1.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the embodiment shown in the single figure.
An diese schliesst sich ein Garantieband 6 an, dessen Querschnitt im1 with the closure body is designated, the shape of which is not of particular importance for the present invention; it is shown here as a screw cap with a corresponding internal thread 2. At its lower end edge 3, several thin webs 4 of rectangular cross-section project downwards, which, as indicated, are distributed over the entire circumference and run parallel to the axis of rotation or symmetry 5 of the closure. This is followed by a guarantee band 6, the cross section of which in

folgenden beschrieben werden soll.IΛ>, WIPO following will be described.
In the present exemplary embodiment, this band or its cross section is divided into three partial areas 61, 62, 63. The inner diameter d is constant in all of these partial areas. The outer diameter D, however, is variable; it increases steadily in the upper and middle sections 61 and 62, however, in section 61 more than in section 62. The two sections could also be combined into a single one, in which the outer diameter then increases uniformly over the entire height ¬ men would. In any case, one or more, here two conical sections are created in this way. The taper is an absolute technical necessity, which is to be explained using the briefly described demolding process. For this purpose, the upper part 7 and the lower part 8 of an injection mold are shown schematically in dashed lines; the inner core of it is omitted for the sake of dearness. The upper part 7 is shown at the moment when it is lifted in the direction of arrow 9 from the lower part 8 after the injection process has ended, so that the entire closure body 1 is essentially exposed. After a further intermediate step, which is not essential here, it is also ejected in the same direction. It can now be seen that the largest outer diameter of the partial region 62 is larger than the inner diameter of the part 8 of the injection mold; this has a clearly visible undercut 81. Thus, the entire guarantee band must slide upwards along this undercut when ejecting, it being compressed for a short time. This results not only in the need for taper, but also in the same time that the increase in the outside diameter must not be too great; the smaller the increase, the easier the demolding takes place. If the undercut 81 were initially completely horizontal in the partial region 61, demoulding would only be possible with a radially divisible injection mold.

Dieser Teilbereich ist in diesem Fall somit von quadrati¬ schem Querschnitt.O PI However, it is now sufficient if the uppermost two partial areas 61, 62 are conical. The lowest partial area 63, on the other hand, has a constant outer diameter D over its entire height and therefore, in view of the already constant inner diameter d, has a constant cross section. As a result, a relatively large amount of plastic material is concentrated in this subarea, which then contracts the most when heat shrinks (see dash-dotted line). In this way, a secure contact with the container neck is achieved in spite of the short period of exposure to heat, the upper sections 61, 62 with their smaller cross-section also bending more easily. The height h of the partial area 63 can increase up to half the height of the guarantee band 6, but is expediently limited to a value corresponding to the wall thickness s of this partial area 63 for the reasons explained above. In this case, this partial area is therefore of square cross section.
In this way, without additional material, which would lead to an increase in costs, an appropriate distribution of materials and thus a perfect functioning of the guarantee band is achieved.
