Description

The invention relates to a turbo-machine transport frame, in particular a turbojet engine, for example with a high dilution rate.

US Patent 3,208,699 discloses a transport frame for a low-dilution turbojet engine in which the engine is supported in a frame obtained by connecting together two lateral rails supported by a trellis pivotally mounted along the edges of a platform.

This document constitutes the state of the art closest to the invention and the preamble to the main claim of the present application incorporates the characteristics disclosed by the aforementioned patent.

However, the device of this patent which allows the mounting of engines having no significant differences in cross-section is not applicable to civil engines with a high dilution rate, the diameter of the fan is much greater than the diameter of the engine body. It is to this type of motors that the frame according to the present invention applies.

The use of a frame is necessary to support, for example, a turbojet engine during its transport over distances which can be great, from the workshops of the engine manufacturer to those of the aircraft manufacturer. Such a frame must be designed to allow the use of means of transport as well road, air or sea without it being necessary to make modifications to these means to adapt them to the material transported. A frame is in the form of a platform surmounted by vertically raised arms provided at their end with attachment means cooperating with complementary means adapted on the casing of the turbojet engine. In general it is maintained isostatically at three points, two points at the front, one point at the rear. Such frames are designed to meet handling conditions by persons lacking the necessary qualification. For this reason their design is simple and robust allowing an easy implementation and avoiding any risk of degradation of transported material.

Once the engine has arrived at its destination, and taken care of by the aircraft manufacturer, the frames are returned to the engine manufacturer in order to be reused for the transport of new engines.

In order to reduce their size and limit the costs of empty transport, it is possible to group the frames in pairs by arranging them, one turned over on the other. It turned out that this solution was not satisfactory because the support members are subjected to constraints for which they were not designed, and the various manipulations, carried out with less careful care than for very expensive equipment. that are turbojet engines, lead to deterioration requiring work to restore the frames before their reuse.

The object of the invention is therefore to facilitate the empty transport of the frames in order to reduce costs on the one hand, and limit the risks of deterioration of the equipment on the other hand, by proposing motor support members. on the platform so that it is possible, when the frame is not in use, to fold them back on the platform, while making the platform in at least two separable elements connected by an elastic suspension to ensure safe transport of the engine and directly allow its aircraft.

A first advantage offered by this solution is, of course, the reduction in vertical dimensions facilitating handling and loading operations on the means of transport, of the empty frame.

A second advantage is that it makes it possible to envisage stacking several frames one on the other, it suffices for this to arrange means ensuring a stable support from one frame to the other when the support members are folded. Such means can be constituted for example by amounts reported on the platforms of the lower frame, on which rests and, to which is secured, the platform of the upper frame; in this way the ends of the support members are not stressed and do not risk being damaged.

Finally, this solution offers the additional advantage of allowing the engine to be powered from the same frame when the latter is made up of separable elements. In fact, according to the functions to be fulfilled, two types of frame design are known: a frame made up of separable elements, a monobloc frame. In the first case, the support members form a cradle in which the engine rests, this cradle is itself mounted on a base during transport of the engine. For aircraft operations, the cradle is deposited with its engine on a trolley which is placed under the wing of the aircraft inside the open cowling, integral with the mast; the cradle is hoisted from the wing using a hoist system; once the engine is fixed, the cradle is lowered onto the carriage and released. The low height available under the wing requires a very low carriage to be able to disengage the cradle. Thanks to the provisions of the invention, it is not necessary to transpose the cradle on a special carriage for aircraft, it suffices to adapt rolling means to the base, in order to be able to move it locally around the aircraft. To release the cradle once the engine is installed, simply fold the support members (the order of operations is obviously reversed for removing the engine).

In the case of a one-piece frame, such as that disclosed in the aforementioned US Pat. No. 3,208,699, the elements constituting the cradle and the base are not separable. The function of such a frame is limited to transport; it is indeed very heavy to be able to be hoisted from the wing of the plane; it would not resist the load.

According to the conditions and the needs of the users, the two designs of the frame are possible. The description which follows attaches to a non-limiting embodiment of the frame, where the elements are separable. However, it will be readily understood that it is not going beyond the ambit of the invention by applying the main characteristic, namely the retraction of the support members, to a one-piece frame.

The figures appended to the text, to which the description refers, represent:
  • Figure 1, a longitudinal view of the frame supporting a turbojet engine with a high dilution rate suggested by fine broken lines.
  • Figure 2, the same frame seen from the right considering the first figure.
  • Figure 3, an exploded view of the frame, in perspective.
  • Figure 4, two folded stacked frames.

Referring to the first three figures, we recognize in broken broken lines, the schematic representation of a high-dilution turbojet engine 1, installed on the frame 2, which is itself composed of three separable elements: a base 3 , a frame 4 and a support adapter 5; the base 3 and the frame 4 forming a platform.

The base 3 consists of a chassis consisting of two beams 31 joined by two beams 32, the two beams are connected by two tunnels intended to receive the forks of a forklift. This chassis supports the frame 4 by means of two crosspieces which are fixed to the longitudinal member 31 with the interposition of elastic suspensions 35 which must isolate the frame-adapter-motor assembly from shocks or vibrations received by the base 3 during transport. road, for example. Each of the elements of the suspension may consist of an elastomer block, of rectangular parallelepiped shape, fixed between two metal plates, one secured to the cross member, the other to the spar 31 concerned. These blocks, as well as their supports, are inclined with respect to the vertical as it appears clearly on figure 2, in order to guard against a rupture of the suspension and, to guarantee the maintenance on the base of the suspended part in case of excessive horizontal transverse forces. Mechanical stops 36, located on either side of each elastomer block, limit the longitudinal and vertical movements of the suspended part by base ratios. Other types of elastic suspensions are possible; instead of elastomeric blocks, it is possible to use helically wound metal cables fixed to metal reinforcements.

Sur le cadre est fixée l'embase 51 de l'adaptateur-support au moyen de broches 43 reliant le longeron 41 à des ferrures 44 solidaires de l'embase 51.The frame 4 comprises two beams 41 bearing on the cross members 34 and which are held in position by frame-cross member connecting means, for example of the tenon and mortise type. Two tunnels 42 are also provided for housing the forks of a forklift. The frame is designed to receive at each end of the side members 41 rolling means, not shown; these means should allow local movement at reduced speed of the frame-adapter-motor separate from the base 3. On the frame is fixed the base 51 of the adapter-support by means of pins 43 connecting the spar 41 to fittings 44 integral with the base 51.

The support adapter comprises, mounted on the base 51, three support members 52, 53, 54 and a four-point hoisting device; the latter being constituted by two rings 55 and 56 fixed to the members 52 and 53, and two rings 57 and 58 at the end of two arms 57 ', 58' detachably connected to the base 51.

In the preferred embodiment, the turbojet engine 1 shown in broken dashed lines is a turbojet engine with a high dilution rate supported at three points: two points on the fan casing and one point on the exhaust casing. The two members 52 and 53 are provided at their upper end with means of connection with the fan casing, for example jaws enclosing pins engaged in ball joints housed in the casing. The support member 54 is also provided at its upper end with means of connection with the exhaust casing. It is connected at its lower end by an axis to a yoke secured to the base.

The members 52, 53 supporting most of the mass of the engine, are highly dimensioned and, are constituted by a leg 52 ', 53' reinforced by a stand 52 ", 53". The legs 52 ′, 53 ′ are joined to the base by means of a joint 72, 73 comprising an axis cooperating with a yoke secured to the base. The crutches are also joined to the base by a hinge 74, 75 comprising an axis cooperating with a yoke integral with the base. Each crutch is fixed to the corresponding leg by means of a pin 76, 77. The two support members are joined by a transverse stiffening beam 59.

Such a frame is used in the following manner.

In the event that the engine must be transported from the engineer's workshops to those of the aircraft manufacturer, using road and air transport at the lowest cost and in optimal safety conditions, the engine will be transported on the frame fitted with the base 3 in the parts of the journey using the roadways, where it is indeed a question of protecting the engine against vibrations and excessive shocks which can occur during such air transport, the base is no longer necessary, its removal reduces the mass transported. At the aircraft manufacturer once the engine is equipped and ready to be installed on the aircraft, a rolling device is mounted at each end of the side members 41 of the frame 4 and the assembly is driven under the wing of the aircraft. to slide it inside the cover elements integral with the mast. The support adapter is detached from the frame by removing the pins 43, which allows the hoisting of the motor with the support adapter by means of tie rods engaged in the rings 55, 56, 57, 58; once the engine is fixed to the mast of the airplane, the support members are detached from the casing, and the adapter lowered onto the frame 4. In order to facilitate the release of the frame and the support adapter, it may be necessary at least partially retract the support members 52 and 53, for this it suffices to release one of the ends of the crutches 52 ", 53" allowing the legs 52 ', 53' to pivot around their articulation on the base 51. Similarly, the support member 54 is folded over the base as well as the arms 57 ′, 58 ′ of the hoisting device.

If you want to lower the engine, you will easily understand that it suffices to carry out the operations in reverse order.

On rabat de même le troisième organe- support 54 et les bras du dispositif de hissage 57', 58'.After use, the frames are returned to engine manufacturer, either the adapter-support frame assembly alone, or this assembly plus the base 3; everything will depend on the organization of the engine transport chain between the engine manufacturer and the aircraft manufacturer. But in order to facilitate their vacuum transport, the frames are stacked on top of each other after having folded the support members onto the base; by releasing one of the two axes of each stand 52 ", 53" they are thus allowed to the legs 52 ', 53' to be placed along the base. The third support member 54 and the arms of the hoisting device 57 ', 58' are likewise folded down.

La figure 4 montre comment il est possible de gerber deux bâtis, ou plus, en utilisant des montants-supports avant 6 et des montants-supports arrière 61 que l'on solidarise partout moyen approprié, boulonnage par exemple, au cadre des deux bâtis superposés.FIG. 4 shows how it is possible to stack two or more frames, using front support uprights 6 and rear support uprights 61 which are secured everywhere appropriate means, bolting for example, to the frame of the two superimposed frames .

In a simplified variant embodiment, it is possible to design a one-piece frame; in this variant the base elements, frame, base are no longer separable, they are fused into a single element constituting a platform on which articulate support members 52, 53 and 54 with possible interposition of the elastic suspensions. Despite the fact that it is not possible to install the engine on its aircraft mast from the frame, since the assembly is then too heavy to be hoisted from the wing of the aircraft, such a variant has the advantage of a reduced number of parts facilitating their management and may be preferred depending on the intended use.
