Definitions

  • the invention relates to a cigarette with a one-piece ventilated filter mouthpiece, in which perforations of a substantially air-impermeable outer casing surrounding the outer mouthpiece and the smoke are conducted in axially parallel streams separately from one another to the mouth-side end of the filter mouthpiece and are only mixed in the mouth of the smoker. as further defined according to the preamble of the main claim.
  • a cigarette with such a filter mouthpiece is known for example from DE-C-16 57 261 and DE-B-1936429;
  • This ventilation mouthpiece consists of a one-piece cylindrical plastic body which, together with the filter or cigarette end, is enclosed by an outer casing which has air inlet openings for air supply ducts which are provided on the outer region of the cylindrical body in the longitudinal direction.
  • cigarettes with ventilated filter mouthpiece are known, in which the supply air and smoke are also conducted separately in parallel streams and are only mixed in the smoker's mouth;
  • these filters have a tubular sheath or air-impermeable layer made of a thermoplastic such as polyethylene, inside which there is filter material, while on the outer surface of the sheath there are concavely shaped grooves extending in the longitudinal direction;
  • there is also a wrapping film which surrounds the outer surface of the tubular casing and connects the latter to the tobacco rod, the wrapping film having perforations in the region of the channels formed by the concave ribs which supply the additional air.
  • the air-impermeable outer shell is pressed into the grooves leading to the by-air and partially or completely closes it when smoking due to the wet lip pressure of the smoker or when holding the cigarette with the teeth by the bite pressure.
  • the tobacco smoke contains more condensate and nicotine than with a determination method measured according to DIN 10240 and 10242 with a smoking machine with dry rubber lips, which can lead to a deception of the smoker.
  • filter mouthpieces of the known type can only be produced in a complex manner and in many cases not continuously.
  • the object of the invention is to propose a cigarette with a novel one-piece ventilated filter mouthpiece, in which the generally desired ventilation, i.e. the supply of additional air is guaranteed even when smoking with wet lips or when applying bite pressure, and on the other hand the mixing of additional air and smoke takes place only in the smoker's mouth, but now additional air and smoke should be guided in such a way that the main flow of smoke is bundled and encased by the air stream in a quasi-laminar manner and still fed separately to the smoker's mouth and mixed therein. Furthermore, it should be possible with a given degree of additional air that by appropriate dimensioning of the core or annulus uniform flow velocities of air and smoke flow can be achieved. Ultimately, according to the invention, a continuous or economical production of the filter elements is to be made possible, and finally the use of a less solidified filter material than previously customary should also be possible.
  • the inventive design of the filter mouthpiece with core sleeve and outer sleeve and with a corresponding cross-sectional ratio of the annular space and the core space makes it possible that the bypass air stream coming into the mouth from the coaxial annular space allows the smoke flow guided in a stranded manner from the core space to pass into the smoker's mouth in a quasi-encased manner.
  • the core stream which is much more densely guided, begins to mix more clearly in the smoker's mouth despite the beginning of mixing, as a result of the bundling of the core stream caused in this way.
  • the one-piece design of the core sleeve, outer sleeve and spacers allows an extremely economical and continuous production of the filter and gives the filter mouthpiece the sufficient strength, so that the annular space instead of the previously known small air ducts is now provided neither by wet lips nor by biting pressure with regard to the supply of Air can be restricted or closed.
  • the condensate and nicotine values measured according to the DIN standard with a smoking machine with rubber lips also correspond to the values actually occurring in the smoker's mouth.
  • the stability of the filter formed from the outer sleeve and the core sleeve results in the mutually stabilizing partial areas of high mechanical resilience, which not only has an advantageous effect on the above-mentioned unimpeded supply air, but also makes it possible that no filter material of high packing density has to be used. While the filter material used to be
  • any, also loose and more flexible filter material can now be used.
  • acetylated cellulose which has been hardened with triacetin, other filter materials without hardness or those with smaller amounts of hardeners can now also be used.
  • the tobacco section 112 is connected with a tobacco rod 114 and a paper sleeve 110 in alignment with the filter mouthpiece 118.
  • the mouthpiece 118 is formed by an outer sleeve 120 with perforation openings 122 and one inside the outer sleeve coaxial with this core sleeve 126, so that an annular space 130 is formed between the core sleeve 126 and the outer sleeve 120.
  • Outer sleeve 120 and core sleeve 126 are made of an air-impermeable material.
  • the core space 124 can be completely filled with filter material or, not shown here, only partially or not at all.
  • Tobacco section 112 and filter mouthpiece 118 are connected to one another by a wrapping sheet 116.
  • perforations 117 are provided in the wrapping sheet 116, which enable air to be supplied via the perforations 122.
  • the core space 124 designed as a filter element can be a strand of conventional filter material that is circular in cross section. Since the core sleeve 126 is connected to the outer sleeve 120 via spacers 134 and has sufficient stability due to the choice of material, it is not necessary to additionally solidify the filter material.
  • the spacers can be point-shaped or rod-shaped or even flat; they can be arranged either axially parallel or helically on the air-impermeable core sleeve 126 in any manner and connected to the outer sleeve 120.
  • the filter material 124a filling the coaxial core space is a strand with a polygonal cross-section and concavely drawn-in ring surfaces, the corner regions 134a of which are connected to the outer sleeve 126 as spacers.
  • the wrapping sheet 116 is not shown for simplicity.
  • the filter element consisting of the outer sleeve and the core sleeve can be produced in one operation by extruding an extrudable plastic material with simultaneous introduction of the strand-shaped filter material.
  • the end face 128 of the annular space 130 is also impermeable to air; it can preferably be adapted or molded onto the core sleeve 126 by squeezing or molding the outer sleeve 120, which acts as an air-impermeable layer, which can be carried out without difficulty shortly after extrusion because of the still soft material.
  • the perforations can be made in the outer sleeve 120 and in the wrapping sheet 116 in any manner, for example mechanically or by means of a laser.
  • the filter material in the annular space can be any material, preferably cellulose acetate solidified with triacetin, but because of the mechanical strength or elasticity of the filter element consisting of core sleeve and outer sleeve, other, less strong filter materials can also be used with advantage.
  • FIG. 4 shows in section the molding of the outer sleeve on the tobacco-side end area of the filter part, the molding taking place both in the area of the web-shaped spacers 134 and at the end of the core sleeve 126.
