Abstract

The headlamp has a paraboloid primary reflector (11) with an upwardly-pointing optical axis (12), and a semi-paraboloid secondary reflector (15) situated on top, whose optical centre is identical with the outer focal point (14) of the primary reflector (11). A stop (17) forming the bright/dark boundary of the dipped beam is arranged between the focal point (14) and the apex (18) of the secondary reflector (15). Alternatively, the primary reflector (11) can be constructed in a paraboloid fashion transverse to the vehicle's longitudinal centre plane, and the secondary reflector (15) can have the form of a conical section or different conical sections or mathematically describable points or corresponding zones, so that the disc (24) covering the headlamp need not have optical media. The headlamp has a short horizontal overall depth, and a low exit aperture. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention is based on a low-beam headlamp for road vehicles according to the preamble of claim 1. Such a headlamp is shown and described, for example, in US Pat the rays of light causing glare to oncoming traffic are shielded.

However, the light beam generated in this way does not meet the conditions that are placed on the low beam by the legislature today.

Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention

With the low-beam headlamp for road vehicles according to the invention, the problem set out in the aforementioned prior art is solved with simple technical means. The effect desired by the invention always occurs when the edge of the diaphragm is arranged in or near the optical center of the secondary reflector / outer focus of the primary reflector.

Advantageous developments of the invention are described in the subclaims. With the configuration according to claim 2, the temperature convection is influenced favorably in that the thermal buoyancy transports the heat of the incandescent lamp into the outside atmosphere. With the design of the headlamp according to claim 3, a particularly wide beam of light is obtained. In conventional headlights, the reflector produces the so-called raw light beam, which is influenced by optical means, in particular on a lens, in such a way that the prescribed light beam is produced. With the development according to claim 4 or 5, such optical means are no longer required, so that the outlet opening of the headlamp can only be covered by an optically ineffective, only transparent pane.

With the embodiment according to claim 7, the light volume generated is increased considerably. With the development according to claim 8, a way is shown to insert the filament containing the filament in the reflector in a favorable manner from the rear and avoid light shading of the filament.

With the developments according to claim 9, a way is shown to assign the optical means to the reflectors and to simplify the manufacture of the headlamp. The edge of the primary reflector is advanced so far into the area of the optical center of the secondary reflector that demolding of the one-piece reflector unit from the manufacturing tool can be accomplished inexpensively.

The advantage of the headlamp according to the invention includes in its shallow depth (in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle) and its low height of the light exit opening.

Zeichnungdrawing

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the single figure; this shows the vertical section through a low-beam headlamp for road vehicles in a scale, schematic representation.

Beschreibung des AusführungsbeispielesDescription of the embodiment

The low beam headlamp for road vehicles has an ellipsoidal primary reflector 11, the optical axis 12 of which is perpendicular to the roadway and is arranged parallel to the longitudinal longitudinal plane of the vehicle, not shown, and contains the inner focal point 13 and the outer focal point 14 which contains the ellipsoid. A half-sided paraboloid forms a secondary reflector 15, the optical center of which is identical to the outer focal point 14 of the primary reflector 11 and the optical axis 16 of which is approximately at right angles to the optical axis 12 of the primary reflector 11.

Between the optical center 14 and the apex 18 of the secondary reflector 15, an aperture 17 is arranged, the optically effective edge 19 of which forms the light-dark boundary of the low beam. The primary reflector 11 is arranged below the secondary reflector 15, and both are made with the diaphragm 17 from a single piece and consist of a plastic. The edge 20 of the primary reflector 11 is brought as far as possible into the area of the outer focal point 14, and both reflectors 11, 15 are joined together in such a way that only reflected rays emerge from the headlight. In the area of the primary reflector 11, which is ineffective in terms of lighting technology, and below the diaphragm 17, an opening 21 is arranged for access to the incandescent lamp, not shown, the lamp body 9 of which is arranged approximately in the inner focal point 13.

The following alternatives to the above are possible: The primary reflector 15 is parabolic in a plane that lies transversely to the vehicle longitudinal center plane. The secondary reflector 15 has the shape of a conic section or is composed of different conical sections.

The secondary reflector 15 consists of mathematically describable points or corresponding zones:
  • A housing 22 with a cap 23 at the level of the opening 21 accommodates the unit of the reflectors 11, 15 and a disk 24 and is fastened in the body 25 of the vehicle in a manner not shown. The disc 24 has the first described execution of the Re optically effective means (not shown), but with the alternatives of the reflectors 11, 15 no such means are necessary, so that the pane only fulfills the function of closing the outlet opening of the housing 22.
