Abstract

The hair cutting apparatus is provided with an interchangeable blade (33) arranged in a two part casing (1, 16). The blade is located between a row of stationary teeth (2) arranged at the edge of the lower portion (1) of the casing and a row of movable teeth (9) forward or backward with respect to the blade. An articulated support arm (20) carrying a shaving head (26) is secured to the edge of the casing (1, 16) opposite to the edge which carries the blade (33). In a non-operating position, said arm is located in a housing (31) provided in the lower portion (1) of the casing. It may be set in an operating position by pivoting outwardly. When operating the shaving head (26), the casing (1, 16) is used as a handle. Therefore, the apparatus has two functions: it may be used as a razor as well as a hair cutting apparatus.

Description

The invention relates to a razor with a razor blade holder pivotally articulated on a housing for pivoting the razor blade head into the housing when not in use.

From US-A-3 492 722, a razor of this type is known, in which a box-shaped cover is hinged to a box-shaped housing, on the inside of which a razor blade head for fastening the blade is arranged on the edge opposite the articulated fastening. When not in use, this razor blade head is pivoted into the housing with the blade, thereby eliminating any risk of injury. In conventional razors with a slim handle to be taken in use, either a separate case is used to supply the device after use or a protective cap is only placed on the razor blade head to prevent the risk of injury.

When using the razor mentioned at the outset with the razor blade holder pivotally articulated on a box-shaped housing and forming the housing cover, the not particularly handy housing has to be held in the hand, which is not very useful in view of the main task of this housing as a protective cover to avoid injuries, which is why The aim of the present invention was to design a razor of this type in such a way that the razor blade head necessarily has a useful function as an additional tool compared to this wider housing.

To achieve this object, the shaver has the features of claim 1. The housing is designed as a hair clipper and contains in the housing, which is designed in two parts for the arrangement of the moving parts, a blade with the cutting edge projecting over the edge of the housing and a plate with a comb-like row of teeth, which is used to vary the distance of the tooth tips from the blade cutting edge in order to change the cutting length an eccentric designed to be actuated as a rotary handle can be moved back and forth. By using an eccentric designed as a rotary handle, a housing construction that requires little space and is closed to the outside is possible; whereby this device differs from a hair clipper known from DE-A-2 336 206, which is open on the operating side for pushing back and forth, so that cut hair can get between the moving parts, and which is used as a housing for the combination with a razor blade holder is too bulky because the housing of this device still has a blade storage containing replacement blades.

The advantage of the razor according to the invention is that a case protecting against the risk of injury from the sharp blade does not have to be provided separately and that the housing, which serves as a protective cover and also as a handle and is articulated with the razor blade holder, is designed as a hair clipper.

The shaver and the hair clipper form an articulated unit. According to FIG. 1, the hair clipper has a lower housing part 1 which has a fixed row of teeth 2 with short teeth on one edge. The slightly recessed surface 3 adjoining the row of teeth 2 serves to receive a blade, not shown in the drawing. A small elevation 4 within the surface 3 serves to fix a blade cut out in accordance with this elevation. In the shell-shaped and one-piece made of plastic housing part 1, an annular bearing 5 is formed in the middle, which serves to receive a pivot pin (not shown in the drawing) on the underside of the eccentric rotary handle 6. The eccentric rotary handle 6 has on its underside a pin 7 arranged eccentrically to its axis of rotation. On the lower housing part 1 there is a plate 8 which has a row of teeth 9 at one edge. The plate 8 has a transverse to the direction of movement of the plate Slot 10 in which the pin 7 engages on the underside of the eccentric rotary handle 6. The transverse slot 10 is adjoined by a slot 11 which extends in the direction of movement and is open at the rear edge of the plate 8, so that the pin 7 can emerge from the slot there, around the plate 8 entirely from the eccentric rotary handle 6 to separate.

The pin 7 on the underside of the eccentric rotary handle 6 also engages in an arcuate groove 12 which is formed in the lower housing part 1. This channel 12 limits the range of rotation of the eccentric rotary handle 6 when the pin 7 strikes one or the other end of the channel 12. If the pin 7 of the eccentric rotary handle 6 is in the middle of the transverse slot 10 of the plate 8, the plate 8 is most outwardly displaced relative to the housing part 1, so that the distance of the tooth tips of the row of teeth 9 from the cutting edge of the in of the blade, not shown, is the largest. If, when the rotary handle 6 rotates, the pin 7 moves to the left or to the right in the slot 10, the plate 8 is moved back. The position with the most retracted plate 8 is shown in Fig. 2 and the position with the most extended plate 8 is shown in Fig. 3.

A compression spring 13 shown below the eccentric rotary handle 6 is inserted in the annular bearing 5, so that the rotary handle 6 with its toothed flange edge 14 is pressed upwards and against a toothed, annular part 15 on the inside of the upper housing part 16. As a result, the rotary handle 6 can be locked in any rotational position and thus the plate 8 with the row of teeth 9 can be fixed in the desired position on one edge of the plate 8. The upper housing part 16 is the same size as the lower housing part 1 and is preferably connected to it by gluing or by another suitable means. The upper housing part 16 has an opening 17 through which the rotary handle 6 extends outwards so that it can be actuated. Furthermore, the upper housing part 16 has at one edge a fixed row of teeth 18 with short teeth that come to rest on the teeth of the row of teeth 9 on the plate 8, as can be seen in FIG. 7.

The row of teeth 18 on the edge of the housing top part, which also consists of a one-piece plastic part, is arranged for aesthetic reasons, so that the teeth of the exactly overlapping rows of teeth 9 and 18 extend to the top of the housing and thus the separated hair is well drained and not on Can fix the edge of the upper housing part.

As can be seen from FIGS. 4 and 5, on the inside of the upper housing part 16 the opposite edges are stepped and guide surfaces 19 are provided on which the plate 8 is guided with its opposite edges 40 when the plate 8 is in front and is moved back. FIGS. 4 and 5 also show the annular toothed portion 15 which surrounds the opening 17 in the upper housing part 16 and which engages with the toothed flange edge 14 of the eccentric rotary handle 6.

According to FIGS. 4 and 5, in the upper housing part 16, on the edge opposite the row of teeth 18 on the inside of the upper part, the holding arm 20, which is also shown in FIG. 1 underneath the upper housing part 16, is pivotably mounted,. which consists of the two parts 21 and 22 which can be joined together, of which part 21 still carries a pivot axis 23. This pivot axis 23 is rotatably mounted in two bearing bodies 24 on the inside of the upper housing part 16. The part 22 of the holding arm 20, which is made of plastic material, has on one side two elastic fingers 25 which snap into the correspondingly designed back of a commercially available razor blade head 26 and hold it in place, the razor blade head 26 being somewhat pivotable.

The two clamping fingers 25 of part 22 make it easy to replace the razor blade head 26. A tandem blade 27 is arranged in this commercially available razor blade head 26. The details of the holding arm 20 with the razor blade head 26 arranged at the end can be seen even more clearly from the illustration on a larger scale according to FIGS. 8 and 9. It can also be seen from these figures that two pins 28 fastened on the inside in the lower housing part 1, which are shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, have a cutting-like edge 29 which cooperate with the axis 23 pivotably mounted in the upper housing part 16, which axis, according to FIG. 9, has two intersecting incisions 30 at the two ends, into which the cutting-like edge 29 can engage. As a result, the holding arm 20 is locked in two different pivot positions.

Around the holding arm 20 with the razor blade head 26 arranged at the end from the housing formed by the lower housing part 1 and upper housing part 16, in which it is in the non-use position, as can be seen from FIG. 4, in the use position according to FIGS. 5 and 6 to pivot, the lower housing part 1 has a correspondingly shaped opening 31 through which the holding arm 20 with the razor blade head 26 is pivoted outwards. The upper housing part 16 has a further opening 32 which serves to press the holding arm 20 outwards with a finger. Fig. 6 shows the view of the device from the rear with the holding arm 20 pivoted outward into the use position and carrying the razor blade head 26. In this figure 6, the blade 33 for cutting hair, which is held on the lower housing part 1, can also be seen, which is slightly above the row of teeth 2 on the edge of the lower housing part 1 protrudes. The view of the device from the front is shown in FIG. 7.
