Description

The present invention relates generally to a machine for the manufacture of plastic bags consisting of two superimposed sheets welded along their lateral edges, the bottom remaining open or being closed by a welding or folding line, these bags being equipped with profiled coupling elements extending along the edges of their opening and capable of being coupled by elastic deformation by pressure under the effect of the sliding of a slider, this machine comprising, inter alia, in known manner , downstream of an extruder producing the sheets, on the one hand an apparatus for automatically placing sliders, in operational position, on profiled coupling elements which extend along the longitudinal edges of two sheets superimposed in movement, and on the other hand, a welding and cutting blade suitable for carrying out at the desired rate, and this during periodic stops in the running of the sheets, transverse welding lines constituting the side edges of the bags.

Currently, certain types of plastic bags are made from sheets of such material and have two opposite walls in principle welded by their lateral edges, a fold of the sheet or another weld line constituting the bottom, unless that the bags are not supplied with an open bottom (FR-A-1 537 729). Opposite the bottom extend, along the edges of the opening of the bag, two profiled elements, namely one on each wall, which elements have complementary shapes and can thus be coupled by deforming elastically by pressure. under the effect of the sliding of a cursor, which conveniently allows the user to open or close the bag repeatedly, by simply moving the cursor along said elements. The cursor is stopped at each end by a welding point at the location where the two profiles are flattened and secured, near the side edges of the bags.

These bags are produced continuously at a high rate, by an extrusion process, the general manufacturing principle consisting essentially of scrolling two superimposed sheets which move in the direction of their length, sheets on which a welding blade and cutting down to perform at the desired rate (depending on the speed of movement of the sheets and the desired width for the bags), and this when the scrolling stops, transverse welding lines constituting the lateral edges of the bags.

Said profiled coupling elements can be extruded at the same time as the sheet and constitute an integral part thereof, or be produced separately and be attached continuously to the respective longitudinal edges of the sheets, by welding or by bonding.

A suitable device, such as that which is the subject of the French invention patent FR-A-2 491 742 automatically installs the said sliders, which come, in the operational position, to cover the said profiled coupling elements over each width of bag. This automatic positioning of the sliders is carried out - of course also at the desired rate - upstream of the welding station and cross section of the sheets.

That said, the problem arises of the positioning of each slider along the length of said profiled coupling elements, taking into account the fact that the machine must be able to deliver bags of variable width. To prevent certain cursors from being positioned at the location at which it is planned to carry out the welding points mentioned above, which would be the cause of a malfunction, it is generally necessary, when passing from a bag width to a different width, to move the slider setting device, to modify the distance which separates it from the aforementioned welding and cutting blade, and to ensure that this distance remains an exact multiple of the width of the bags. Otherwise, in fact, the sliders could be positioned at locations the width of the bags which would shift progressively towards one of the lateral edges of the latter, which would inevitably lead to the abovementioned operating incident.

One of the aims of the present invention is to avoid the disadvantage of having to move the slider installation device, which is relatively heavy and bulky, more or less frequently, and to ensure that '' it can be fixed, while also automatically and safely avoiding the risk of any operational incident.

To this end, a machine of the general type indicated at the beginning is, in accordance with the present invention, characterized in that it further comprises, between said apparatus for placing cursors and said welding and cutting blade, a positioning apparatus automatic said sliders on said coupling coupling elements, adapted to bring them at a determined distance from the location provided for said transverse welding lines, regardless of the width provided for said bags.

This avoids any risk that a cursor distributed by the setting device "falls to the location provided for said transverse welding lines, and therefore any risk of occurring the type of operating incident consisting in that the welding and cutting blade crushes a cursor.

In this way, the cursor fitting device can be fixed, which can be more particularly advantageous when it is planned that this device works on sheets in movement, at least part of the course of which is vertical, an arrangement which makes it more simple and more reliable the means of supplying the device with sliders, since these then move by simple gravity in a vertical chute.

Thus, an additional characteristic of a machine according to the invention may consist in that said slider fitting device is fixed and operates on a vertical part of the path of the sheets in movement.

The present invention also relates, and more particularly, to the structure and the operating mode of said automatic cursor positioning device.

According to a characteristic of the invention, in this regard, said device will be characterized in that it essentially comprises a chassis, a passage provided for allowing the scrolling of said profiled coupling elements which extend along the edges longitudinal of two superimposed sheets, and, on either side of this passage, two facing rollers, mounted at the free ends of two pivoting arms and capable, among other movements, of moving away from one of the other, to allow free passage to a slider mounted on said profiled elements, or to approach one another, and momentarily prevent this passage, which, the scrolling of the sheets continuing, causes a longitudinal displacement, d 'determined amplitude, of said cursor on said elements.

It is thus possible to automatically and conveniently bring the cursors to a determined location in the space separating the locations of two successive welding and transverse cutting lines, which absolutely avoids the drawbacks described above.

Such a cursor positioning device in accordance with the present invention has other interesting characteristics, which will be more explicitly discussed below, and in particular means allowing the delivery of finished bags, open or closed, as well as carrying out a test of the good functioning of each cursor.

  • la figure 1 est une vue en plan schématique et partielle de cet appareil ;
An embodiment of a cursor positioning device according to the invention will now be described by way of nonlimiting example, with reference to the figures of the appended drawing in which:
  • Figure 1 is a schematic and partial plan view of this apparatus;
  • Figure 2 is an axial sectional view through line II-II of Figure 1; and
  • Figure 3 shows schematically the kinematics of the rollers of the device.

In the various figures, what can be called the chassis of the device has been referenced in 1 and the two rollers, forming between them a passage for the coupling profiles, in 2. These rollers, which are rotatable around axes 2a, and have a groove 2b, are each mounted at the free end of an arm 3 mounted to pivot about an axis 4. The other end of the arms 3 is connected by a link 5 to a common axis 6 secured to a mobile support 7. The axes articulated connecting the arms 3 to the links 5 have been referenced at 8.

Un contre-écrou 12 permet, après réglage, et par serrage sur la paroi 13 du support 7, de fixer la position de la vis 10 par rapport au support 7.The position, in abutment, of the movable support 7 relative to the chassis 1, can be adjusted by the rotation of a knurled button 9 mounted at the end of a screw 10 screwed into the support and whose free end comes abut, at 11, on one end of the chassis 1. A lock nut 12 allows, after adjustment, and by tightening on the wall 13 of the support 7, to fix the position of the screw 10 relative to the support 7.

Thanks to these means, the maximum degree of pinching of the two rollers 2 can be adjusted one on the other.

The displacement of the mobile support 7, which will control the pivoting of the links 5 and levers 3, and consequently the opening and closing of the rollers 2, is produced by a pneumatic cylinder 14 fixed relative to the chassis 1 and whose threaded end 15 of the piston rod, on which is also mounted an adjusting lock nut 16, is screwed into said support. The automatic control of the supply to the cylinder of the jack 14 is effected by means of a solenoid valve and all appropriate detector means (not shown), this depending on the progress and periodic stops of the superimposed sheets of material. plastic scrolling (in the direction of arrow F), which have been referenced in 17 and bear on their longitudinal free edges of the coupling profile elements 18 (in FIG. 2, a slider mounted in operational position on the profiles 18 a was referenced in 19).

As for the articulation axes 4, they are integral with a carriage 20 mounted to slide on the chassis 1. The sliding of the carriage 20 relative to the chassis 1 is ensured on each side by lateral slides 21, with retention ensured by the intermediate two lateral grooves 22 of the chassis, on each of which slides the head 23 of a screw 24 fixed in said carriage 20.

Enfin, et dans un but qui sera vu par la suite, le chariot 20 peut être verrouillé élastiquement sur le châssis 1 par l'extrémité arrondie 25, sollicitée vers l'extérieur par un ressort interne, d'une vis de verrou élastique 26 à écrou 27 fixée sur le chariot 20, cette extrémité pouvant venir occuper l'une de deux encoches 28 ou 29 du châssis 1.Finally, and for a purpose which will be seen later, the carriage 20 can be resiliently locked on the frame 1 by the rounded end 25, urged outward by an internal spring, with an elastic lock screw 26 to nut 27 fixed on the carriage 20, this end being able to occupy one of two notches 28 or 29 of the chassis 1.

L'extrémité arrondie 25 du verrou élastique 26 occupe alors l'encoche 29.That said, the operation of the device which has just been described is as follows: a cursor 19 having arrived in the position shown in FIG. 3, the jack 14 was controlled, during the preceding cycle time, so that its rod is retracted as far as possible into its body, which has brought the movable support 7 into the front stop position shown in FIG. 2. The rounded end 25 of the elastic lock 26 then occupies the notch 29.

This displacement of the movable support 7 forward, that is to say downward, has caused the maximum approximation of the two rollers 2 towards one another, as a result of the pivoting of the links 5 and arms 3; these rollers then prevent the passage forward of said slider 19, which remains blocked behind the rollers 2, while the sheets 17 continue to scroll in the direction of the arrow F. The location of the welding line and rear cross section of the sheets therefore advances towards the cursor 19, which will thus be, on the corresponding bag when finished, near the rear end of the coupling profiles 18.

In FIG. 3, the rollers and the various axes of the system are in the position for which the references which designate them, and which are the same as in the other figures, are assigned the index 1 (and so on: 2 , 3 and 4 for the following times of the operating cycle).

At this time, the stopping of the sheets 17 is produced by an electric brake acting on the rollers, with the production of a control signal for the second cycle time: the rod of the jack 14 comes out and moves the movable support 7 away from the chassis 1 , which causes the rollers 2 to open (their axes come in 2a 2 in FIG. 3).

Le système est alors arrivé au troisième temps du cycle de son fonctionnement (indices 3 des références sur la figure 3).When the rollers are at full opening and the arms 3 are then locked (in the position of FIG. 1), further operation of the jack 14 causes the carriage 20 to move backwards, that is to say say upwards, the rounded end 25 of the elastic lock 26 leaving the notch 29 of the chassis to occupy the notch 28. The system then arrived at the third stage of the cycle of its operation (indices 3 of the references in the figure 3).

The rollers 2 (axes in position 2a 3 ) are then always in the open position, but behind the slider 19.

The jack 14 is then controlled in the opposite direction, which causes the rollers 2 to close behind the slider 19. The rollers are then in position 2a 4 in FIG. 3 (fourth step of the cycle).

The rollers 2 being closed on the profiles 18, the pivoting arms 3 are again blocked and continued operation of the jack 14 can only bring the carriage 20 forward, that is to say towards the position it occupied during the first stage of the cycle, the rounded end 25 of the elastic lock 26 leaving this time the notch 28 of the chassis to return to the notch 29.

During this forward movement of the carriage 20 with the rollers 2 closed (the sheets 17 still being stopped), the cursor 19 is slightly moved forward on the profiles 18, causing them to couple on a low length.

This arrangement has the advantage of testing the correct operation of the slider 19 which, if it is defective or improperly engaged on the sections 18, is ejected, which allows an easy and rapid observation of the defect. In addition, this leaves enough room at the rear end of the profiles 18 (behind the cursor) to allow the welding point to be made on the profiles, this welding point constituting a stop for the cursor on the future. bag.

After which, having returned to the first stage of the cycle, the sheets are put back into scrolling and the operation of the system starts again in the same way.

Open bags can be obtained (with the exception of the short length closed at the rear, which has just been mentioned), if the rollers 2, being in the maximum closed position, do not cause an inter-engagement of the profiles coupling 18 during the first time of the cycle. In fact, when the cursor is blocked by the rollers 2 in position 2 1 and the sheets are advancing, this cursor causes disengagement of the profiles 18, which are coupled at the level of the device for fitting the sliders.

By acting on the knurled button 9, it is however possible to ensure that in the closed position as much as possible the rollers 2 pinch the sections 18 sufficiently during the first time of the cycle to cause them to couple. We then obtain fully closed bags.

It can thus be seen that the invention makes it possible to obtain open or closed bags, of variable widths, without it being necessary to modify the distance which separates the apparatus for installing cursors from the welding and cutting blade, with sliders whose proper functioning has been tested, and which are always at a determined distance from the rear end of the profiles, on each bag.

As goes without saying, and as it already follows from the above, the invention is in no way limited to those of its modes of application and embodiments which have been more particularly envisaged; on the contrary, it embraces all its variants.
