Abstract

Materials for packing are conditioned by adjusting the moisture regain by treating the material in a conditioning atmosphere while measuring the moisture regain of the material and terminating the treatment when a predeter­ mined moisture regain is attained. The materials are desir­ ably supported in an enclosure through which the condition­ ing atmosphere is circulated until the desired regain is attained, when the material is delivered into an atmosphere with which they are in equilibrium for packing, which may be vacuum or compression packing.
