Abstract

1. An atomizing burner for liquid fuels with a casing (1), in which mutually concentric ducts (3, 4, 8) for the supply of a high-pressure gas and the fuel are disposed upstream of a mixing chamber (7), and with an ultrasonic generator (9) comprising two inserts (10, 13) occupying the cross-section of the high-pressure gas duct (8) and rotatable relative to one another and having through openings (12, 14) for the high-pressure gas, characterized in that the inserts are constructed in the form of drums (10, 13) which are arranged concentrically to one another and on the peripheries of which are arranged the respective through opening (12, 14), and a reflector (16) is disposed coaxially with the drums (10, 13) on the side thereof remote from the mixing chamber (7) and facing the mixing chamber (7) in order to concentrate and direct the ultrasonic energy onto a further reflector (17) disposed at the downstream end of the mixing chamber (7) and which concentrates the ultrasonic energy in the region of the openings of the concentric ducts (3, 4, 8).
