Definitions
- the invention relates to a bath lift for the physically handicapped, with a transport device which is arranged vertically displaceably on a frame and can be pivoted sideways and can be raised and lowered by a drive machine.
- Bath lifts of this type are known in different versions (e.g. US-PS 3,914,808, DE-OS 2,714,358, CH-PS 570 937).
- the frame of such a bath lift consists of a telescopically extendable column in which the drive machine is enclosed in the form of a hydraulically operated working cylinder. All such designs have the disadvantage in common that the drive device must bear the entire load from the loaded transport device or, in conjunction with a power transmission, must have an excessively long working stroke. In both cases, this leads to relatively massive, heavy and correspondingly expensive lifting devices, some of which are very high.
- the object of the invention is to provide a bath lift which, while avoiding the aforementioned disadvantages, requires only a fraction of the drive force previously required and thereby enables a more compact and less complex design. Furthermore, the invention intends to reduce the bearing forces in the pivot bearing of the transport device in order to be able to use simpler and less complex pivot bearings.
- the invention solves this problem in that the transport device and the drive machine are arranged on a pivotable frame part and in that the transport device is supported on the pivotable frame part by a gas spring arrangement serving for load balancing.
- the gas spring arrangement absorbs most of the load at any height of the transport device, so that the drive machine only has to be dimensioned for the low residual force for lifting the transport device.
- the low level of actuating force required is primarily due to the fact that the counterforce exerted by a gas spring changes only slightly over the entire spring travel.
- the reduced size of the drive machine enables it, especially when using hydraulically or pneumatically operated working cylinders, to use commercially available designs for these as well as for the gas springs. In contrast to the known designs, such a solution therefore does not require any special construction of the drive means.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention is namely that the frame consists of a fixed mounting frame and a pivot frame pivotally connected to it and that the transport device has a carriage mounted on two vertical guide rods provided on the pivot frame, to which a person carrying device is attached.
- the mounting frame is preferably at least as high as the swivel frame, so that articulated connections can be provided at the lower and upper ends of the swivel frame.
- the entire frame height due to the required slide stroke can be used for the placement of the swivel bearings, so that the bearing forces are reduced to a minimum and, despite the additional weight of the drive means located on the swivel frame, are lower than in conventional solutions, since this The weight of the drive means only makes up a fraction of the total weight of the loaded transport device. If the drive means and the slide were on the mounting frame and the swivel bearings for the transport device were on the slide, then with the same frame height only the lower slide height would be available for the swivel bearing, which would result in higher bearing forces.
- FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 show elevation, side and floor plan of the bath lift.
- the bath lift shown comprises a frame 1, on which a transport device 2 is vertically displaceable and laterally pivotable and can be raised and lowered by a drive machine 3.
- the frame consists of a mounting frame 5 which can be fastened to a wall 4 and a swivel frame 6 which is connected to the latter in an articulated manner Welding.
- U-shaped folding profile pieces are preferably used as side parts 7, 8.
- the side parts 7 are also connected to one another by cross members 11.
- One hinge 12 each at the upper and lower ends of the frame form the articulated connection between swivel frame 6 and mounting frame 5, the swivel frame each having a swivel arm 13 which is mounted on a swivel pin 14 seated on the relevant upper and lower end plate 9.
- Such swivel arms 13 and bearing bores are preferably provided for receiving the swivel bolts 14 on both sides of the frame, so that when the bath lift is installed, the swivel mounting can be on the left or set up on the right side of the frame so that the transport device can be swung out to the left or right depending on the structural conditions
- the transport device 2 has a carriage 15 which is mounted on two vertical guide rods 16 anchored in the end plates 10 of the swivel frame 6.
- the carriage 15 has two bearing beams 17, which are preferably equipped with ball bushings 18 at the bearing points.
- Two vertical webs 19 connect the two bearing beams 17 to one another and are connected to one another at their upper end by a support plate 20.
- the drive means for the transport device 2 are a drive machine in the form of a pneumatically operated working cylinder 21 and two gas springs 22 provided for load balancing.
- the working cylinder 21 and the gas springs 22 are arranged in the plane of the pivot frame 6 and are supported on the one hand on the lower end plate 10 of the Swing frame 6 and on the other hand on the top support plate 20 of the carriage 15.
- the cylinder part is at the bottom and the piston rod is at the top, with the gas springs 22 it is the other way round.
- the person-carrying device 23 is fastened to the carriage 15 of the transport device 2, and in the present example, a reclining seat 25 is mounted on the bars 26, which are attached laterally to the bearing beams 17 of the carriage 15, so that they can be folded up around the joints 26. Furthermore, armrests which can be folded up can be provided on the spars 24.
- a pressure bottle with stored gas for example C0 2
- the frame 1 preferably has a holder for this pressure bottle.
- the mounting frame 5 can also form part of a stationary or mobile stand.
- the drive of the transport device 2 there is also e.g. the possibility of providing a hydraulically operated drive cylinder or an electromotive spindle or chain drive.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a bath lift for the physically handicapped, with a transport device which is arranged vertically displaceably on a frame and can be pivoted sideways and can be raised and lowered by a drive machine.
Bath lifts of this type are known in different versions (e.g. US-PS 3,914,808, DE-OS 2,714,358, CH-PS 570 937). The frame of such a bath lift consists of a telescopically extendable column in which the drive machine is enclosed in the form of a hydraulically operated working cylinder. All such designs have the disadvantage in common that the drive device must bear the entire load from the loaded transport device or, in conjunction with a power transmission, must have an excessively long working stroke. In both cases, this leads to relatively massive, heavy and correspondingly expensive lifting devices, some of which are very high.
The pivot bearing of the transport device also presents particular difficulties in such constructions. In order to achieve a smooth-running swivel bearing, the bearing forces must be as low as possible. This problem is also not solved satisfactorily in the known lifting devices. The design according to US Pat. No. 3,914,808 enables the transport device to be pivoted by rotatably mounting the column at its base, which means that the entire weight of the loaded bath lift and the tilting moment must be absorbed by this column bearing. In contrast, in the embodiment according to DE-OS 2,714,358, the transport device with a sleeve is pivotally mounted on the circumference of the vertically movable part of the column, the axial length of the sleeve being only a fraction of the length of this column part. Similar conditions exist in In the case of the design according to CH-PS 570 937, in which the transport device is connected to the upper end of a rotatable piston rod of the drive machine, the piston rod being guided only over a fraction of its length in the extended state. In each of these cases, relatively high bearing forces and correspondingly high frictional forces can be expected. Such swivel bearings place high demands on precision, are large and heavy and, accordingly, are expensive to manufacture.
The object of the invention is to provide a bath lift which, while avoiding the aforementioned disadvantages, requires only a fraction of the drive force previously required and thereby enables a more compact and less complex design. Furthermore, the invention intends to reduce the bearing forces in the pivot bearing of the transport device in order to be able to use simpler and less complex pivot bearings.
The invention solves this problem in that the transport device and the drive machine are arranged on a pivotable frame part and in that the transport device is supported on the pivotable frame part by a gas spring arrangement serving for load balancing.
The gas spring arrangement absorbs most of the load at any height of the transport device, so that the drive machine only has to be dimensioned for the low residual force for lifting the transport device. The low level of actuating force required is primarily due to the fact that the counterforce exerted by a gas spring changes only slightly over the entire spring travel.
The reduced size of the drive machine enables it, especially when using hydraulically or pneumatically operated working cylinders, to use commercially available designs for these as well as for the gas springs. In contrast to the known designs, such a solution therefore does not require any special construction of the drive means.
It is known from DE-AS 2.730.305 to achieve a load balance by springs in a bath lift. However, these are mechanical springs on a transport device that can be lifted by hand. Towards the end of the stroke, the spring force is only low, so that almost the full force for lifting the load must be applied by the user in this area.
Gas springs for load balancing are already known in numerous application forms. In many cases, they have led to fundamentally new designs of musculoskeletal systems. If they are used in the bath lift according to the invention, they offer, among other things, the possibility of simplifying the swivel mounting of the transport device. A preferred embodiment of the invention is namely that the frame consists of a fixed mounting frame and a pivot frame pivotally connected to it and that the transport device has a carriage mounted on two vertical guide rods provided on the pivot frame, to which a person carrying device is attached. The mounting frame is preferably at least as high as the swivel frame, so that articulated connections can be provided at the lower and upper ends of the swivel frame. As a result, the entire frame height due to the required slide stroke can be used for the placement of the swivel bearings, so that the bearing forces are reduced to a minimum and, despite the additional weight of the drive means located on the swivel frame, are lower than in conventional solutions, since this The weight of the drive means only makes up a fraction of the total weight of the loaded transport device. If the drive means and the slide were on the mounting frame and the swivel bearings for the transport device were on the slide, then with the same frame height only the lower slide height would be available for the swivel bearing, which would result in higher bearing forces.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown schematically, that is, FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 show elevation, side and floor plan of the bath lift.
