Description

The invention relates to a regulating screw of a mixture generator for internal combustion engines for the cross-sectional determination of a throttle point in a flow channel for fuel, air or fuel-air mixture with a regulating cone, a thread and a key attachment.

Such regulating screws are required, for example, for the idle speed setting, which must be carried out taking into account the emission standards defined by the exhaust gas legislation, and for the readjustment, with the friction power changing with the running time of the engines, the idling speed.

A carburetor is known from the information leaflet of the Deutsche Vergaser Gesellschaft, Neuss, downdraft carburetor 31-34 PICT-5, pages 10 to 13, images 11 to 14, print 4/75, which is equipped with a so-called additional mixture system. This additional mixture system allows the readjustment of the idling speed, which is necessary for running-in engines, to be possible with only one regulating screw, whereby the screw responsible for compliance with emissions standards remains sealed at the factory. This is possible because the two fuel supply systems are coordinated so that a so-called CO line is established when the mixture throughput is adjusted. When using an engine in a motor vehicle, errors often occur in certain operating phases, such as a drop in engine speed after coasting and braking, increased pollutant emissions during coasting, idling speed fluctuations, etc., which are known as thrust or idling problems and various proposals have been made to remedy them. For this is from DE-PS 19 61 438 a speed control device and from DE-GM 70 39 342 an additional mixture known line of a carburetor, the latter having a passage cross section, which is automatically increased with increasing intake manifold pressure and decreased with falling, whereby a constant idling speed regardless of changing loads on the engine by additional units (automatic transmission, air conditioning, power steering, etc.) is to be achieved. These devices as additional devices are expensive and their effect is unsatisfactory, since they are designed for the control of the entire cross-section, which means that an adjustment in the unfavorable range requires an adjustment path to change the area, high adjustment forces are required and there is a large hysteresis in the response behavior.

The object of the invention is therefore to equip a carburetor with a device with which the errors mentioned can be avoided.

This object is achieved in that the carburetor is equipped with a regulating screw, in which the regulating cone is arranged between outlet openings of a flow channel axially penetrating the regulating cone, which cooperates as a throttle point with a closure body, which with a chamber in the key approach against a chamber in a lid sealing membrane is connected and the throttle cross section is adjusted at a corresponding pressure difference between the chambers against the force of a spring, the spring for the use of the regulating screw in certain engine-related tasks being arranged to act on the closure body or to open the spring on the Locking body is arranged to act and the lid has an atmosphere connection or has a control line connection.

The advantages that can be achieved by the invention result from the possibility of using the regulating screw for various engine technology tasks, which can be achieved in particular with a carburetor with an additional mixture system. It is the idle speed control dependent on the idling system pressure or the intake pressure of the internal combustion engine, a boost increase in the fuel mixture delivery for better combustion and thus a reduction in the pollutant content in the exhaust gas, while pursuing the philosophy of fuel economy cut-off, a better load acceptance in the transition from idle to load operation by additional mixture delivery and one Low-force adjustment due to the division of the cross-section into fixed and variable components, whereby a low-hysteresis and precise adjustment is achieved. Another advantage is likely to be the retrofit and the cheaper carburetor, by eliminating the usual additional equipment such as valves, throttle valve actuators, etc.

Fig. 1 of the drawing shows a known carburetor 1 in partial section with an additional mixture system for providing the fuel mixture required for idling operation, which is equipped with all the systems necessary for proper operation, even if they are not shown, with a throttle valve 3 downstream of one Main mixture outlet 2 arranged in an intake duct 4 and a channel 5 bypassing the throttle valve 3 with a fuel emulsion inlet 6, a throttle point 7 which interacts with a regulating cone 8 of a regulating screw 9 and a second fuel emulsion inlet 10 arranged downstream of the throttle point 7, which is controlled by an idling mixture regulating screw 11. An outlet section 12 of the channel 5 forms a valve seat 13, which optionally interacts with an electromagnetic valve cone 14 for the anti-diesel shutdown.

Fig. 2 shows a regulating screw 9 in the version as it is required for example for idle speed control. The regulating screw 9 consists of a screw body 16 with the regulating cone 8, a thread 15 and a key attachment 17. The regulating cone 8 has a flow channel 18 arranged in the adjustment direction, which acts as a throttle point 19 between the outlet 20 on the slim part of the regulating cone 8 and a part 21 of the flow channel 18, which exits through transverse openings 22 in the thick part of the regulating cone 8, acts. The continuation of the flow channel 18, 21 forms a guide 23 for a valve rod 24, which is connected by means of two diaphragm plates 25, 26 to a diaphragm 27 and at its other end has a receiving groove 28 for a soft material ring 29, which acts as a closure body 30 with the throttle point 19 cooperates, the membrane responding to the difference in pressures in the atmosphere and in the additional mixture system upstream of the throttle points 7, 19.

The membrane 27 is held in a recess 32 of a chamber 33 in the region of the key extension 17 by means of a cover 31, the chamber 33 having a shoulder 34 for receiving a spring 35 and being connected to the guide 23. The spring 35 is supported with its other end under tension on the membrane plate 25 and loads the valve stem 24 in the opening direction. The cover 31 has a chamber 36 which is connected to the atmosphere via a connection 37.

Fig. 3 shows a regulating screw for the same application, but the diaphragm 27 to the difference in the pressures in the intake line of the internal combustion engine downstream of the mixture generator 1, via a control line connection 38 of the diaphragm 27, and responds in the additional mixture system in front of the throttling points 7, 19 . In this case, the spring 35 is supported in the opening 31, the spring 35 is supported in the cover 31 and the closure body 30 is arranged in the flow direction behind the throttle point 19 in accordance with the above-mentioned action — the spring 35 loads the valve rod 24 in the opening direction.

An embodiment of the regulating screw, as would be provided for a thrust increase, would consist of the combination of the two embodiments shown, i. H. the closure body 30 is arranged as in FIG. 2 and the spring 35 is arranged as shown in FIG. 3.

Funktionfunction

The regulating screw is screwed into the normal position for the setting of the carburetor 1 with the throttle point 19 closed, as prescribed. During operation of the engine, depending on the type of application, a pressure difference on the diaphragm 27 becomes effective by a corresponding pressurization of the diaphragm 27, so that the closure body 30 changes the cross section of the throttle point 19 as a function thereof, so that an additional cross section is released for that determined by the positioning of the screw or is closed. Here, the use of the regulating screw 9 for other applications, eg. B. the control of correction air, additional fuel etc. also provided.
