In other words, the retraction of the shell 39 in the direction of the arrow F allows the pistol to be cocked by introducing and accumulating air in the chamber 41, while the displacement of this same shell in the opposite direction ensures the transfer of this air contained in the chamber 41 in the straw 10 by passing through the axial passages 17 defined by the flats 16 produced on the ejection rod 6. This ejection rod 6 is fixed, by its rear part 6 1 , in an internal boss 44 of the shell and is guided over its entire length in the duct 5 of the barrel.

Claims (17)

1. An artificial insemination device of the type comprising, on the one hand, an elongate body (1 ) provided with an axial conduit (5) into the front end (5a) of which there can penetrate and be held fixed the end of an insemination tube (10) containing a dose of semen, an ejection rod (6) of the tube being slidably mounted in the axial conduit of the body and being rigid with an outer control device (7a), the said front end (5a) of the axial conduit of the body being connected by a discharge passage (17) to an air supply for ensuring the ex- plusion of the semen, which device is characterized in that the ejection rod of the tube has at least one longitudinal flat part (16) defining with the internal wall of the axial conduit (5) of the body at least one longitudinal duct (17) which extends from the front end (5a) of the conduit of the body to the rear portion of the said body in such a way that this duct communicates with the air supply.
2. A device as claimed in Claim 1, characterized in that the ejection rod (6) has a cylindrical cross- section and comprises two flat parts (16) which are diametrically opposed and extend parallel to its generatrices, the two ducts (17) defined by these flat parts communicating with the air supply.

A device as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the body(1) is associated with a gripping device (2) in the form of a gun grip which is directed transversely relative to the axial conduit (5) thereof, the air supply being formed by a compressible enveloppe (3) disposed on the front face of this grip (2) on the insemination tube (10) side.

A device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the body (1) of the gun has a cylindrical rear portion which is slidably mounted in a cylindrical aperture (11) which is provided at the upper end (2a) of the grip (2) and with which means (12) for locking in position are associated.

A device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the upper part (2a) of the grip projects forwards relative to its actual gripping section (2) and has a downwardly projecting connection conduit (14) on which the opening (3a) of the compressible enveloppe (3) is secured and which further opens into the discharge duct or ducts (17).
6. A device as claimed in Claim 5, characterized in that the connection conduit (14) is formed by an attached tube engaging over a part of its length in an opening (13) provided in the upper part (2a) of the grip and opening into the apeture (11) of the grip which receives the body(1).
7. A device as claimed in Claim 5, characterized in that the body (1) has a transverse passage (15) which opens into the discharge duct or ducts(17) and in which the tube (14) forming the connection conduit engages.
8. A device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the control device (7a) of the ejection rod is formed by a pusher (7) secured on the rear end of this rod (6) and projecting at the rear of the body (1).

A device as claimed in Claim 8, characterized in that the pusher (7) has a front collar (7b) which slides in a cylindrical chamber (4) provided at the rear of the body (1 ), and the rear face of the latter is set back with respect to that of the upper section (2a) of the grip, a locking member (8) beind mounted transversely through this upper section behind the said collar.

A device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 9, characterized in that it further comprises a member (20) for retaining the envelope in the compressed state, disposed so as to bear against this envelope (3) and rigid with means (19) for locking this member in the retaining position, which means are in turn actuated in the release direction by the control device (7a) of the ejection rod (6) when this latter device is operated.

A device as claimed in Claim 10, characterized in that the retention member (20) is formed by a part articulated at one end on the grip (2) and provided at the other end with a locking finger (20b) which cooperates with a nose (19d) of an articulated lever (19), the opposite end of which is movable with the control device (7a) of the rod.

A device as claimed in Claim 1, characterized in that the discharge duct (17) com- municateswith an independent air supply (32) by means of the clearance of a connection (28) secured in a tight manner on the rear section of the body, this air supply comprising a connection (31 ) provided with a valve quided from the exterior by a push button (33) and a control trigger (34).
13. A device as claimed in Claim 12, characterized in that the rear section of the body comprises two 0-ring seals (24, 25) defining an annular passage(26) into which there opens a radial aperture (27) passing through the body, and communicating with the discharge duct (17).

A device as claimed in Claim 1, characterized in that the discharge duct (17) opens into an air chamber defined by the rear section of the body and a casing (39) in the form of a hood which is displaceable in alternate directions relative to this body, a lip seal (38) ensuring the tightness of the air chamber when the casing (39) is displaced in the direction of the insemination tube, but, on the other hand, allowing outer air to pass into this chamber when this casing returns to the rear position under the effect of a return spring (42).
15. A device as claimed in Claim 14, characterized in that the ejection rod (6) is rigid with the sliding casing, the path of this casing being limited by the stop of the front end of the ejection rod (6) with the rear end of the insemination tube.
16. A device as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 15, characterized in that the insemination tube comprises a rim at at least one of its ends.
17. A device as claimed in any one of Claims 14 and 15, characterized in that the casing is mobile but is retained coupled to the body (1) by a clamp (46) bearing on an annular collar (35) projecting over the periphery of the body (1).
