Abstract

The electroacoustic transducer comprises an oscillating element (6, 7) holding a coil (8), the oscillating element (6, 7) being connected to a magnet frame (11-17) by an elastomer ring (10'). The magnet frame (11-17) has two magnets (14, 15) and constitutes an inertial mass. The oscillating element (6, 7) is intended to be attached rigidly by its base plate (6) to a panel (1) so that the sound waves are transmitted to the latter (1) which thus plays the role of a speaker diaphragm. Adjusting screws (27) make it possible to modify the characteristics of the elastomer (10') as a function of the mounting condition and the desired sound diffusion effect.

Description

Electroacoustic transducers are already known comprising a magnetic carcass with an annular cylindrical air gap and an oscillating element carrying a coil immersed in this air gap, this oscillating element being shaped to allow its attachment to a panel to transmit sound vibrations to it, the carcass constituting a mass of inertia connected to the oscillating element by an elastic piece.

Transducers of this kind are described, for example, in US Pat. Nos. 3,524,027 and 3,728,497 and French No. 1,514,600. British patent No. 1,447,588 shows an electromechanical transformer which can be produced from transducers a commercially available type for actuating loudspeakers and in which a base plate is connected elastically to a magnetic carcass by an annular elastomer ring.

The invention relates to a transducer of the aforementioned type in which the guidance of the coil in the air gap is excellent, which makes it possible to mount this transducer in any position. This result is obtained thanks to the fact that the oscillating element is constituted by a metal plate carrying a non-ferromagnetic metal cylinder serving as support for the coil, this plate having holes to allow its fixing to said panel, the elastic part being of shape annular, made of elastomer, carried by said metal plate and surrounding the base of a bell-shaped part forming the casing of the carcass to connect it in leaktight manner to said plate and to ensure the centering of the coil in the air gap , the carcass being held axially against the elastomer part by a screw engaged in an axial thread of the central pole of the carcass, the head of this screw resting on a washer in turn resting on a rubber ring, the screw , the washer and the ring being all arranged inside a recess provided in the central part of the metal plate.

The accompanying drawing shows schematically and by way of example the invention.
  • Figure 1 is a vertical section of a suspended ceiling, equipped with electroacoustic transducers according to the invention.
  • Figure 2 is a top view of a transducer having certain features of the invention.
  • Figure 3 is a section along line III-III of Figure 2.
  • Figure 4 is a partial view in axial section of the electro-acoustic transducer according to the invention.

Referring to Figure 1, a suspended ceiling is constituted in a manner known per se by panels 1, having on their upper face loops 2 for the passage of hooks 3, themselves fixed to a slab 4, constituting the floor d 'an upper floor.

Ces derniers sont rendus solidaires du panneau 1 par leur plaque métallique de base 6.Several of these panels 1 are equipped with one or more electroacoustic transducers 5. The latter are made integral with the panel 1 by their basic metal plate 6.

2).This basic metal plate 6 has holes 20 to allow it to be screwed to the wall element (fig. 2).

The construction of the transducer shown in Figures 2 and 3 is very close to that of a loudspeaker. The base metal plate 6 has a cylindrical central part 7 made of non-ferromagnetic material, for example aluminum. This cylinder carries a winding 8, the two ends of which are connected to two contact fingers 9 and 9 '.

La plaque métallique de base 6, sa partie cylindrique 7 et l'enroulement 8 constituent ensemble un élément oscillant du transducteur 5.The base metal plate 6, its cylindrical part 7 and the winding 8 together constitute an oscillating element of the transducer 5.

As shown in FIG. 3, the transducer comprises a magnetic carcass comprising a ferromagnetic central part 12 integral with a flange 13, a permanent magnet 14 in the form of a disc, a permanent magnet 15 in the form of an annulus, a part 11 in the form of a bell and a flat metal ring 17. The flange 13 is disposed between the magnet 14 in the form of a disc and the magnet 15 of annular shape, an annular part 16 made of non-ferromagnetic material keeping the latter 15 centered relative to the central part 12.

The magnetic carcass 11 to 17 is connected to the plate 6 by a piece 10 of elastomer. This part 10 constitutes a dust-tight annular seal between the plate 6 and the bell-shaped part 11.

It should be noted that the elastomer part 10 has two internal annular ribs 18 and 19, the first is engaged in a peripheral groove at the base of the skirt of the part 11 in the shape of a bell.

The base of the part 10 is engaged in a large centering groove 21 provided in the plate 6.

The cylindrical part 7 and the winding 8 engage in a cylindrical space provided between the central part 12 and the annular part 16 for centering.

The elastomer part 10 has sufficient flexibility to allow relative axial displacements between the cylinder 7 and the central core 12, while ensuring good radial guidance between this core 12 and the cylinder 7.

The magnetic carcass with the magnets 14 and 15 constitutes a relatively heavy part, which acts as a mass of inertia, so that the relative displacements between the core 12 and the cylinder 7 transmit vibrations to the plate 6 and therefore to the panels 1 from the suspended ceiling.

These panels act as a speaker membrane. In most cases, the wall element has a large surface area, which allows good quality reproduction of musical signals, especially notes. serious.

Of course, it is necessary to choose the number of transducers 5 as a function of the sound level which it is desired to obtain in the space which is to be soundproofed.

It goes without saying that the transducers 5 must be connected so as to be in phase with one another.

It is clear that the transducers can be fixed to any other wall element, this wall can be a wall of the room to be sounded or a wall of a piece of furniture located in this room. Ultimately, a single transducer may be sufficient when the room does not have large dimensions.

As shown in Figure 4, the transducer 5 'includes means for exerting a force on the elastomer part 10 so as to modify its elasticity characteristics. These means include a central adjustment screw 22 connecting the magnetic casing 11 -17 to the oscillating element 6 - 8. The head of the adjustment screw 22 is supported on a washer 23 and the latter in turn is supported on a elastic element consisting of a rubber ring 24 inserted in a recess 25 provided in the central part of the metal plate 6 of the oscillating element 6 - 8. The screw 22 engages by its other end in a tapped hole in the part central 12. By action on the adjusting screw 22, it is thus possible to apply a greater or lesser force on the piece 10 of elastomer so as to obtain optimal conditions for the diffusion of sound waves.
