Definitions

  • the invention relates to an installation for washing inert materials such as sand, gravel or the like.
  • bucket installations consisting of a semi-cylindrical tank containing the inert material and the washing liquid: the buckets, fixed radially to a central shaft, catch, mix and lift the material while leaving the liquid washing go through the specially made holes in the buckets and discharging the washed inert material into the adjacent compartments.
  • washing basin for inert materials of cylindrical shape, which is rotated around its own horizontal axis and which is provided with several annular diaphragms making it possible to delimit as many corresponding compartments for the materials; the circumferential wall of each compartment of the basin is provided with a series of flanges forming pockets for lifting the materials and advancing them towards one or more tiles intended to pass the materials into the following compartment: said tiles being perforated to allow drainage of materials.
  • the washing water is introduced into the compartment which is at one end of the basin, and it is from this same compartment that the treated materials are discharged, while it leaves the compartment situated at the end opposite of the basin and into which the materials to be treated are introduced.
  • the materials to be treated are introduced into the compartment where the water is in a minor quantity and which therefore has a lower washing capacity; in addition, the mud remains, for the most part, deposited in the various compartments of the basin, so that a large quantity of water and a large motive force are required to rotate the basin and an extended period of operation.
  • the object of the present invention is to propose an installation for washing inert materials, such as sand, gravel or the like, eliminating or greatly reducing these drawbacks.
  • a washing installation comprising several identical rotors, operating according to the counter-current principle and rotating around the same axis, each of the rotors being composed of a compartment delimited by two annular flat diaphragms of the same width and by a cylindrical wall, which wall being provided with several angularly equidistant radial troughs, means for supplying the installation with washing water, means for loading the materials to be washed into the rotor which is located one end of the installation, means for recovering the materials washed at the outlet of the rotor which is at the other end of the installation, characterized in that the different rotors are axially spaced from one another, the axis of the rotors is inclined relative to the horizontal, the inert material is loaded into the lowest rotor, each rotor is supplied separately with clean washing water, and q ue the buckets are formed by a triangular bottom, provided with many holes for the flow of mud
  • inert material to be washed introduced through the mouth of the rotor located at one end of the installation, advances against the current passing through all the rotors before being discharged through the orifice of the rotor located at the other end of the installation.
  • the advantages obtained thanks to this invention consist essentially in that inert materials of any size can be washed even if very dirty; in that the consumption of washing liquid and motive energy is much lower than that of installations of known type, even compared to the quantity of washed material produced; in that the installation has a longer service life and in that it requires only reduced maintenance.
  • Figure 1 is the longitudinal section of a first embodiment according to the invention
  • Figure 2 is the longitudinal section of a second embodiment
  • 3 shows the installation of Figures 1 and 2, in front view of the outlet side of the washed inert and in partial section
  • FIG. 4 is a variant of FIG. 3.
  • each rotor (1) is provided with several intermediate annular diaphragms (2a) delimiting several annular channels (3).
  • the washing liquid supply pipe (7) has a drainage mouth (8) only opposite the upper annular channel (23) of each rotor (1), while the channels (3) of each rotor located below the first are filled with water overflowing from the corresponding upper channel.
  • FIGS 3 and 4 of the accompanying drawings show the arrangement of the buckets (15) according to two possible orientations, namely in radial position and inclined relative to the radius of the rotor (1); in any case, the washed inert material is discharged into the adjacent annular channel (3) situated above it due to the rotation of the rotor (1).
  • the inert material to be washed is brought in front of the lower annular channel or channels (3) of the lower end of the installation and the supply pipe (7) supplies the washing liquid which fills the lowest area of each channel (3) to the edge of the lower diaphragm (2) from which it flows outside or into the adjacent channel (3) located below.
  • the water or washing liquid supplied continuously and in small quantities through the hose (7) flows downward, entailing the impurities removed from the inert material.
  • the inert material being washed is lifted by the buckets (15) allowing the washing liquid to flow through the holes (4); by the effect of the inclination of the walls (6) and after a certain elevation, the inert material is discharged (in the direction indicated by the arrow F1 in Fig. 1) into the adjacent channel (3) located above and this , insofar as this wall protrudes from the diaphragm (2) of the corresponding channel.
  • the inert material passes through the second adjacent channel (3) and, from channel (3) to channel (3) reaches the last from where it will be discharged onto a chute (14) and thus withdrawn.
