Abstract

The novel case contains at least one rigid, obstacle-free basic frame element with a U-shaped profile and laterally fittable, interchangeable lateral elements. The latter can be in the form of e.g. plates, case shells or lateral covers provided with roller shutters. The case can be opened between the basic frame element and one of the lateral elements. The volume within the profile makes it possible to receive different additional elements. Examples of the latter are locking elements, carrying handles, name plates, identification elements, accessories, roller elements and carrying straps. The basic frame element can be in the form of a rectangle, square, polygon or circle.

Description

The invention relates to a case with a variable volume according to the preamble of the first claim.

Conventional case designs consist of two shell-shaped elements which are connected to one another with hinges and secured by closure elements attached on the opposite side. With this case construction, the options for adapting to the various transport needs (volume change, change in function) are extremely low, since the enclosed volume cannot be changed by the fixed connection of the shells to one another.

Currently existing case designs with variable volume include:
  • a) suitcase, with the disadvantage of poor protection of the goods being transported through the soft outer wall,
  • b) Case with bellows integrated in the shells, which, however, only allow a limited change in volume and
  • c) the so-called "twin case", which consists of a conventional case that has additional hooks and locking elements to accommodate an additional side case shell, but this construction is also rather limited in its changeability.

Furthermore, in GB-A 2 018 580 (Moldau) a bag or suitcase with variable volume is described with two side parts, between which one or two middle parts can be inserted, as required, in order to increase the volume. This pocket-like case is closed by means of a zipper, has no middle part in the smallest form (FIG. 4) and is of rigid design only to a limited extent. Due to its manufacturing method, it is not suitable as a briefcase for higher demands. 1 to 3 is a pocket-like suitcase which is suitable for holiday purposes. It has no built-in lock and no retractable handles.

US-A 1 950 118 (Lifton) describes a case with a variable volume and a collapsible, ring-shaped central part, on which side parts can be attached on both sides. The side parts can increase or decrease the volume as required, whereby the middle part can be folded to save space when not in use, which is why one cannot speak of a rigid design. The middle part or frame is made of wooden boards, which reduce the life and strength of the case. The inside of the case is smooth on the inside, but not on the outside, from which the locks and handle protrude. The object of the invention is to create a suitcase with variable volume, which has the following properties:
  • absolutely rigid, ring-shaped middle section with interchangeable, interchangeable, first side sections, the size and shape of which depend on the required volume,
  • with recessed accessories such as lock, hinges and handle, and
  • Possibility of attaching second side parts on each side of the case to divide the volume into several separate compartments, which can be left as separate units in the car or hotel when needed for a business visit that only requires the briefcase part of the case.

This object is achieved by means of the features in the characterizing part of the first claim.

Ausführungsformen sind in den abhängigen Ansprüchen umschrieben.Embodiments are described in the dependent claims.

The case construction described allows greater adaptation to the goods to be transported, both in terms of volume and function, since the additional side elements can be designed for special needs without restricting the general usability of the remaining elements.

  • Aussentasche
  • Trägerwand für verschiedene Accessoires
  • Balgenelement
  • Rolladenelement
  • Kleideraufnahme
  • Fototasche
  • Aufnahme elektronischer Geräte (Rechner, Diktiergerät, Radio, TV)
  • Aktenbehälter
  • Hängeregistraturbehälter
  • . Uebergangselement zwischen grösserem Grundrahmen und kleinerem Zusatzelement
Additional elements can be installed which have the following functions:
  • Anti-slip protection by rubber studded covering
  • Connection element between two basic elements
  • Outside pocket
  • Carrier wall for various accessories
  • Bellows element
  • Roller shutter element
  • Clothing reception
  • Photo bag
  • Recording of electronic devices (computer, dictation machine, radio, TV)
  • File holder
  • Suspension file container
  • . Transition element between a larger base frame and a smaller additional element

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
  • Figures 1-4 Some of the possible shapes of the middle part. Fig. 1 allows the attachment of two additional elements per frame side in two positions, since this central part is square and therefore allows the additional elements can be rotated by 90 °.
  • Fig. 2 is a representation of a rectangular central part, which allows the inclusion of documents in A format.
  • Fig. 3 shows a circular middle part, which can accommodate a large number of additional elements.
  • Fig. 4 shows a central part in the form of an equilateral triangle, which allows the inclusion of 2 x 3 additional elements. It goes without saying that a large number of basic geometric shapes are possible, so for Example the hexagon, which offers the advantage of honeycomb-like stackability.
  • Figures 5-6 These figures show a cross section through a usable hat profile made of metal, from which the frame of the middle part can be built. Fig. 5 shows the profile with laterally attached rubber profiles for edge protection. Fig. 6 shows the profile with attached side elements, which were inserted laterally through the slots in the profile of the central part or base element and can be held with the closure elements lying in the profile of the base element. The closure elements are only hinted at in the drawing.
  • Figure 7 This figure shows two of the possible hook shapes, which are attached to the side elements and can be inserted into the middle part through the slots provided. The hook shown above is rigidly connected to the side element, while the lower hook is connected to the side element with a hinge, which enables the side element to be folded out of the middle part.
  • Figure 8 This figure shows a central part with locking elements attached therein and a retractable carrying handle attached therein. Two side elements are shown on one side of the basic element, which can be attached both individually and together. The outside side element engages with the hooks in the vertical sides of the middle part. The plate-shaped side element has small recesses on its vertical edges so that the hooks of the additional elements located on the outside engage in the middle part. The plate-shaped side element is attached to the horizontal sides of the middle part and has hooks on the lower edge, which are provided with hinges, in order to enable the side element to be folded out.
  • Figures 9-14 These drawings show a section of the possible combinations of a middle part with different side and additional elements. The side elements shown include simple lids, lids with built-in shutters and case shells.
  • Figures 15-17 These drawings show the possible variations of the additional elements. The appearance of the entire object can be changed in a simple manner by the different design of an individual part. Figure 15: Side element anodized aluminum. Figure 16: Side element rubber nub covering to prevent slipping. Figure 17: Side element covered with black leather.
  • Figures 18-20 These drawings show the possible variations through the use of specialized page elements. Figure 18: Side element with outside pocket. Figure 19: Side element with mounting rail for attaching accessories. Figure 20: Side elements with bellows.
  • Figure 21 This drawing shows the structure of a so-called "beauty case" consisting of a horizontal middle section and additional base and lid elements.
  • Figure 22 This drawing shows the construction of a so-called overseas case from at least two middle parts and a tubular side element connecting them and the side side elements.
