Description

The invention relates to a multiple-gauge branch circuit breaker, inserted downstream of an energy meter in an alternative distribution network for supplying a subscriber's low-voltage electrical installation, the change of circuit breaker rating being remotely controlled by the agent from the meter housing box through a pilot wire link circuit arranged between the box and the circuit breaker.

The remote control by the caliber change agent allows the installation in the subscriber's premises of a multi-caliber branch circuit breaker with tamper-proof trip unit, but requires the incorporation in the external box of each subscriber of a special control circuit permanently connected to the link circuit. This control circuit must be sealed and is electrically supplied by an auxiliary source. The cost of installation and maintenance of such a control circuit is prohibitive, since the frequency of change of rating and subscribed power remains low for the same electrical installation.

The present invention aims to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks and to allow a simplified and reliable remote control of the change in size.

The connection circuit breaker is characterized in that the connection circuit is electrically connected to a connection terminal provided inside the box and intended for the temporary connection by the agent of a portable control generator capable of sending by said circuit a caliber change signal to an adjustment switch associated with the tripping unit of the circuit breaker.

The temporary connection of the command generator occurs only during the caliber change operation carried out by the agent. In addition to installing the pilot wire connection circuit, the installation of the remote control device requires a connection terminal in the box and an adjustment switch associated with the circuit breaker.

According to a characteristic of the invention, the gauge switch is mechanically coupled to the cursor of a resistance selection device of the trip unit, and is formed by a step actuator with electromechanical rotation or translation control, said actuator being attached to or integrated into the circuit breaker box. The step-by-step actuator of the switch comprises a ratchet wheel whose advance is controlled by a first electromagnet supplied by the generator during the caliber change, the ratchet wheel being locked at each step by a subject retaining pawl to the action of a return spring. A second electromagnet is intended to cause the unlocking of the retaining pawl and the automatic return of the switch to the maximum rating of the circuit breaker, for example 90 amperes.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the portable generator comprises a connection plug which can be plugged into the terminal of the link circuit, and a caliber preselector cooperating with a contact for switching on the generator. The generator is advantageously direct current or unidirectional, and the preselector is arranged to successively excite the second electromagnet for unlocking the pawl, then the first electromagnet for advancing the ratchet wheel, the duration of excitation of the first electromagnet determining the number of steps of the actuator corresponding to the rating displayed on the preselector.

  • la figure 1 est un schéma électrique d'un disjoncteur de branchement monophasé équipé d'un commutateur de calibre télécommandé selon l'invention, le générateur de commande étant montré en position déconnectée ;
  • la figure 2 représente le schéma électrique du générateur de commande en position connectée avec le circuit de liaison ;
Other advantages and characteristics will emerge more clearly from the description which follows of an embodiment of the invention, given by way of nonlimiting example and represented in the appended drawings, in which:
  • FIG. 1 is an electrical diagram of a single-phase connection circuit breaker equipped with a remote-controlled gauge switch according to the invention, the control generator being shown in the disconnected position;
  • FIG. 2 represents the electrical diagram of the control generator in the position connected with the link circuit;
  • FIG. 3 shows an embodiment of the gauge switch coupled to the cursor of a resistance selection circuit, associated with a static trip unit of the circuit breaker.

The invention is described below as being applied to a bipolar connection circuit breaker (phase and neutral) for a single-phase distribution network, but it is obvious that the various characteristics of the invention are also applicable to circuit breakers having a number of different poles, in particular four-pole (three phases more neutral) for a three-phase network.

In FIGS. 1 to 3, a more neutral bipolar or unipolar connection circuit breaker 10 is connected downstream of an energy meter 12 in a single-phase alternating distribution network with L and N conductors for supplying the electrical installation low voltage of a customer having subscribed to a predetermined subscription with a distribution company. The counter 12 is housed in an external electrical box 14 accessible to the distributor, and the circuit breaker 10 is arranged in the subscriber's room, separated from the box 14 by a distance d which varies according to the distance. The circuit breaker 10 conventionally comprises a mechanism 16 for operating the movable contacts 18, 20, actuated either manually by a trip button 22 and a reset button 24, or automatically by a trip bar from a relay 26 electromagnetic polarized controlled by a trip unit 28.

The trigger block 28 includes a trigger static overload controller 30 with long delay protection and / or short delay protection, controlled by a current sensor 32 inserted in the L phase conductor and providing a signal proportional to the current flowing through the circuit breaker. The output signal from the sensor 32 is rectified in a rectifier bridge 33 and applied to a caliber selection device 34 which attenuates the value of the output signal as a function of the caliber selected. The modified signal at the output of the selection device 34 is applied to the static trip device 30 intended to send a trip order to the relay 26 when an overload current appears which exceeds a predetermined threshold corresponding to the rating displayed by the device. selection 34. The static trip device 30 is of the own current type without auxiliary power supply, the trip energy being accumulated in a capacitor C. The device for selecting the rating 34 comprises a voltage divider bridge of n resistors R i , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 ... connected in series and provided with pads 1, 2, 3, 4 ... for drawing the voltage cooperating with a slider 36 for adjustment. The bridge can be constituted by a simple potentiometer. The operation of such a circuit breaker is well known to specialists, and it is unnecessary to describe it in detail. In the case of a device with a minimum rating set at 30 amperes, the cursor 36 is located on the pad 1 of the divider bridge. The adjustment of the caliber to 45, 60 and 90 Amps takes place by changing the position of the cursor 36 respectively on the pads 2, 3 and 4 of the divider bridge. The different size values are given by way of examples, and can of course be different. The position of the cursor 36 thus determines the pricing of the subscription corresponding to the power subscribed by the subscriber.

According to the invention, the change in rating occurs by means of a rating switch 38 controlled remotely from the box 14. The switch 38 can be attached to the case of the circuit breaker 10 or integrated into the latter, so as to ensure the driving the cursor 36 on a predetermined pad of the selection device 34. A link circuit 40 with pilot wires 42, 44 electrically connects the switch 38 of the circuit breaker 10 to a connection terminal 46 provided inside the box 14 of the counter 12 Terminal 46 can receive by plugging in a socket 48 for connection of a portable generator G with control contact 50. The generator G is connected and switched on exclusively by the distributor following a power change request made by the subscriber. Terminal 46 of box 14 and the circuit breaker box 10 are tamper-proof.

The gauge switch 38 is formed by an electromechanical actuator 52 step by step comprising a ratchet wheel 54 whose retaining pawl 56 is biased in the locking position by a return spring 57. The wheel 54 is integral with the slider drive shaft 36, and an elastic means, in particular a torsion spring 60 causes the ratchet 56 to unlock automatically the wheel 54 to an original position corresponding to the maximum rating of the circuit breaker, for example 90 Amps, in which the cursor 36 is located on the pad 4 for inserting the resistor R 4 . The step-by-step advancement of the ratchet wheel 54 of the actuator 52 takes place by excitation of a first electromagnet 62 with a core 64 plunger mechanically coupled to the end of the pawl 56. Unlocking the pawl 56 for the reset of the switch 38 on the caliber 90 A occurs during the excitation of a second electromagnet 66 with plunger core 68 articulated to the pawl 56 by means of a connecting rod 70. The core 64 of the first electro -magnet 62 extends in alignment with the pawl 56, while the core 68 of the second electromagnet 66 and the connecting rod 70 are substantially perpendicular to the pawl 56. The generator G is of the DC type or unidirectional current, comprising, for example, two accumulators 72, 74 with opposite polarities cooperating with an inverter 76 of the direction of polarity electrically connected in series with the contact 50 for switching on. The inverter 76 cooperates either with a pad A connected to the negative pole of one (72) of the accumulators, or with a pad B connected to the positive pole of the other accumulator 74.

The control winding of the first electromagnet 62 is connected in series with the anode of a diode 78 whose cathode is at the potential of the pilot wire 42 of the connection circuit 40. One of the ends of the winding of control of the second electromagnet 66 is connected to the cathode of a diode 80, and the opposite end is connected to the pilot wire 44 for connection of the first electromagnet 62.

The actuator 52 with electromechanical control of the switch 38 is suitable for the DC generator G comprising two accumulators 72, 74 associated with the inverter 76, but it is clear that the invention applies to any other type of generator cooperating with an actuator with rotary or sliding control. The inverter 76 can be combined with a caliber preselector 81 cooperating with the contact 50 to control the duration of excitation of the electromagnet 62 as a function of the caliber selected by the agent.

On the drive shaft 58 of the actuator 52 is wedged a disc 82 for displaying the position of the cursor 36 which indicates to the subscriber the rating selected by the remote control of the switch 38. The rating displayed on the corresponding disc 82 at the subscribed power controlled from the box 14 by the preselector 81 of the portable generator G.

The operation of the circuit breaker 10 fitted with the remote-controlled caliber switch 38 is as follows:
  • For a predetermined size of the circuit breaker 10, the trip unit 28 detects overload, short-circuit currents, and faults differentials, and causes excitation of the trip relay 26 causing the opening of the contacts 18, 20 via the mechanism 16. The manual reset of the circuit breaker 10 is effected by depressing the reset button 24.

The agent proceeds to the temporary connection of the portable generator G to the connection circuit 40 by plugging the socket 48 into the terminal 46 of the box 14 The caliber requested is displayed by the agent at the preselector 81 and the contact 50 comes to the generator G switching position. In a first step, the inverter 76 is located on the pad B, so as to ensure the excitation of the electromagnet 66 for unlocking the pawl 56 causing the switch 38 to return to the maximum rating of 90 A corresponding to the position of the cursor 36 on the pad 4 of the selection device 34. In a second step, the reverser 76 is actuated on pad A for the excitation of the electromagnet 62 controlling the step-by-step advance of the ratchet wheel 54. The number of steps of the wheel 54 is a function of the duration of excitation of the electromagnet 62 fixed by the presel ector 81. The latter then opens the contact 50, and the position of the cursor 36 on one of the pads 1, 2, 3 or 4 corresponds to the requested rating. The remote control of the switch 38 from the box 14 is then finished, and the agent withdraws the socket 48 for disconnecting the generator G. The new selected rating of the circuit breaker 10 is displayed by the signaling disc 82 of the switch 38.
