- the agents can be applied to the site before the unwanted plants have germinated from the seeds or have sprouted from vegetative parts of the plant, or they are applied to the leaves of the unwanted plants and the crop plants.
- the new active compounds are preferably applied after emergence or during emergence of the undesired plants, both on cultivated areas and on undeveloped land. If the active ingredients for the crop are less compatible, application techniques can also be used in which the herbicidal compositions are sprayed with the aid of sprayers in such a way that the leaves of the sensitive crops are not hit as far as possible, while the active ingredients are more undesirable on the leaves below Plants or the uncovered floor area (post-directed, lay-by). 1
- the application rates of active ingredient are 0.1 to 10 kg / ha and more, preferably 0.5 to 4.0 kg / ha, the higher doses being particularly suitable for the total control of vegetation.
- test vessels are set up in the greenhouse, with warmer areas (20 to 30 ° C.) being preferred for heat-loving species and 15 to 25 ° C. being preferred for those with moderate climates.
- the trial period spans 3 to 4 weeks. During this time, the plants are cared for and their response to the individual treatments is evaluated. It is rated on a scale from 0 to 100. 0 means no damage or normal emergence and 100 means no emergence of the plants or complete destruction of at least the aerial parts.
- test plants are Datura stramonium (common thorn apple), Galium aparine (burdock herb), Oryza sativa (rice), Sinapis alba (white mustard), Solanum nigrum (black nightshade), Gossypium hirsutum (cotton), Glycine max. (Soybeans), Triticum aestivum (wheat).
- the greenhouse experiments show that the new compounds are suitable for controlling unwanted plants when used before and after emergence. Of particular interest is their use as selective herbicidal agents in crop plants.
- the active ingredients Nos. 171, 174, 175, 176, 182 and 183 combat the undesired plants used as examples, the crop plants being damaged only slightly or not at all. Furthermore, compounds No. 176 and No. 183 show a good activity against undesired plants when post-emergence application of 2.0 kg of active ingredient / ha.
- the agents can be used when both crop plants and unwanted plants are at the pre-emergence or post-emergence stage at the same time. However, it can also be used if the crop plants have already been established, but the weeds and grasses have not yet emerged or if they are just emerging. If certain crop plants already standing are somewhat sensitive to the active ingredients, application techniques can also be used in which the herbicidal compositions are sprayed in such a way that the leaves of sensitive crop plants are not hit, if possible, while they reach the uncovered ground and reach the germinating and growing undesirable plants in it (post-directed, lay-by, under-leaf spraying). For example, the following crops can be considered:
- the new compounds according to the invention can be mixed with numerous representatives of other herbicidal or growth-regulating active compound groups and applied together.
- diazines, 4H-3,1-benzoxazine derivatives, benzothiadiazinones, 2,6-dinitroanilines, N-phenyl carbamates, thiol carbamates, halocarboxylic acids, triazines, amides, urine come as mixing partners substances, diphenyl ethers, triazinones, uracils, benzofuran derivatives, cyclohexane-1, 3-dione derivatives and others.

In Betracht kommen beispielsweise folgende Kulturen:
