- these probes In order to provide as complete and precise information as possible, these probes must penetrate into the region of the central axis of the furnace. Therefore, depending on the capacity of the oven, these probes must be up to eight meters in length and sometimes even more. This results in serious support problems which become all the more difficult as the probes are longer. Indeed, these probes are cantilevered with the only support point a flange provided on the metal shielding of the wall of the oven for the introduction of these probes. These are therefore exposed to the risk of deformation under the action of their own weight and under the action of the descent of the material inside the oven. In addition, the support point of the probe undergoes the reaction of these forces and stresses, reaction proportional to the moments exerted by the length of the probe overhang. This reaction is maximum when the probe is fully inserted and the resulting frictional force on the support opposes the sliding of the probe. The effort required to move the probe is adversely affected.
