Abstract

1. Description

WO / 80/02102 describes such seating. The backrest is articulated there to the seat and can be pivoted about a horizontal axis relative to the frame. The support plate lies on the backrest and extends over the entire length of the backrest, or

protrudes even further. The support plate is divided into at least two partial plates and supports the entire back of the person sitting on this seating furniture, or additionally the head. A handlebar is hinged at one end to the common pivot axis between the seat surface and the backrest and at the other end to a point approximately in the middle of the lower part of the support plate.

This seating furniture thus offers a very high level of seating comfort, which is, however, bought with the disadvantage of a relatively complex construction.

If you move the seat forward of this armchair, a headrest pivoted to the upper end of the backrest, which is connected to the seat via elastic straps, is pivoted forward by a small angle.

A chair is also known, the seat of which cannot be moved and which has a headrest which can be pivoted backwards from an upright position via a friction joint or vice versa. To do this, the user has to stand up, which is inconvenient.

FR-PS 1 078 676 describes a piece of seating furniture which has a seat surface which can be displaced horizontally relative to the frame and a backrest which is articulated on the seat surface and can be pivoted with it. Lies on the backrest a non-subdivided support plate that extends over the entire length of the backrest and on which in turn a backrest cushion rests. This seating furniture has the major disadvantage that the lumbar region is not supported when the seat is moved and the backrest is pivoted.

GB-PS 1 056 648 describes a further piece of seating furniture in which the seat surface can also be displaced in the horizontal direction relative to the frame. A pair of side bars is articulated with its lower end to a raised edge of the seat surface and with its upper end to a pair of bars of the backrest. The entire backrest and also the pair of front bars with the upholstery resting on them can be folded forward onto the seat. The front pair of rods is telescopically extended when the seat surface is moved forward and telescopically inserted when the seat surface is moved rearward. This supports the lumbar vertebra area of the person concerned during this shift, but this construction is again complex, in particular because of the necessary telescopic extension of the front pair of rods and because of the envisaged possibility of the backrest including front pair of rods with back cushion.

In the first embodiment, the invention is therefore based on the object of proposing a piece of seating furniture which, while retaining the advantage, according to which the lumbar vertebra area of the person is shifted should always be well supported, characterized by a simple construction.

To achieve this object, the invention is characterized in that the backrest part of the frame is firmly connected to the frame and that the support plate is not subdivided and extends essentially over the lumbar region.

Compared to the publication discussed in the first place, the two joints of the backrest, which make it pivotable on the frame and relative to the seat, are eliminated. The support plate extends only over the lumbar region and the upper part of the support plate with one or two additional joints is therefore also omitted. Nevertheless, the lumbar vertebra area is well supported in the aforementioned shifting of the seat forward or backward, because the support plate with the back cushion resting on it bridges the space between the fixed backrest and the forward-moving seat to a certain extent. '

There may be padding on the front of the support plate. The back cushion can also extend upwards in one piece over the support plate and can be part of the entire back cushion of the seating furniture.

In the second embodiment mentioned, the invention is based on the object of designing the seating furniture in such a way that the head of a person sitting on the seating furniture is in is not supported in an upright sitting position, but in the comfortable resting position in which the seat is pushed forward. This adjustment of the pivoting position of the headrest to the position of the seat should be done automatically, ie without the person in question having to stand up or otherwise become active. As far as is known, this task is new and inventive.

To achieve this object, the second embodiment according to the invention is characterized in that the headrest in the rear starting position of the seat is approximately in a horizontal position pivoted to the rear and via an operative connection between the seat and the headrest when the seat is moved forward into an approximately vertical position is pivoted.

In the upright position, in which the seat is in its rear starting position, the headrest is pivoted backwards and thus does not touch the head of a person sitting on the seating furniture. In this upright sitting position, such a headrest is also unnecessary or is not desired. However, if the person is in a rest position in such a way that, by moving the seat forward, it assumes a more comfortable position, the headrest automatically swivels upwards from the above-mentioned, pivoted-back position and supports the head. The seat and the headrest are connected to one another by means of suitable mechanical connecting links, so that both movements take place synchronously with one another, without the user of the seating furniture doing anything about this besides the mentioned displacement of the seat surface against the spring force. If the seat is moved backwards, the movement sequence takes place in the opposite direction.

The movement sequence described is further supported when a spring element engages on the one hand on the backrest and on the other hand on the pivotable headrest, which prestresses the headrest in its upright position. This spring element thus supports the spring element mentioned at the outset, which prestresses the seat surface into the rear starting position.

There are several options with regard to the mechanical operative connection between the seat and the swiveling headrest. An embodiment is preferred, which is characterized in that a cable is attached at one end to the seat surface and from there is guided via a roller attached to the frame to the pivotable headrest, where it is attached. The cable takes up little space and is characterized by a long service life and low design effort. The fixed roller causes the necessary reversal of movement. This means that when the seat is moved forward, a certain length of cable is released, which, supported by the spring acting on the headrest, causes the headrest to pivot into the upright position.

The headrest should be upholstered. In order to lead the cable through the pad of the headrest without damaging it, it is preferred if the end of the cable fastened to the pivotable roller through a sleeve is guided, which is inserted into a hole in an upholstery of the pivotable headrest.

The attachment of a cushion for the backrest including the pivotable headrest is preferably carried out in such a way that an insert pocket accessible from the underside is formed in this padding in such a way that the padding can be pushed from above onto plates which form the backrest and the pivotable headrest. These features are known per se from DE-GM 80 16 928 in a similar context.

In any case, the seating furniture according to the invention has the seat surface which can be moved forwards and backwards. In addition, either the aforementioned support plate, which constantly supports the lumbar region of the person concerned, or the mentioned pivotable headrest, which supports the head in the rest position of the person. However, the seating furniture according to the invention can also have both the other features mentioned, in addition to the sliding seat, namely the support plate and the headrest. This embodiment, which is characterized by all three features, namely the sliding seat, the pivotable support plate and the pivotable headrest, is preferred.

First, the first embodiment according to FIGS. 1-4 will be explained.

The novel seating consists of a frame 1 with a frame-fixed, padded backrest 2. A likewise padded seat 3 can ver relative to the frame horizontally forward in the direction of arrow 4 or backwards in the opposite direction of this arrow be pushed. For this purpose, guides and rollers 5 are provided. A vertically acting gas spring 6 is attached at one end to the frame, while its piston rod 7 engages a rod 9 with an adjustable length via a bent lever 8. The other end of the rod 9 is in turn attached to the seat 3. As a result, the seat is biased into the starting position shown in FIG. 1.

A support plate 10 is articulated with its lower, horizontal edge 11 to a frame 12 of the seat 3, quite far at the rear end of the seat. A back cushion 13 rests on the support plate 10.

If the seat 3 is moved forward in the direction of the arrow 4, the support plate 10 is simultaneously pivoted rearward about the joint 11 into a flatter position and with it the back cushion 13. This bridges, as it were, between the front wall of the backrest 2 and the The rear wall of the seat 3 created space (see Fig. 2) and well supports the lumbar region of a person sitting on the seating.

The variant according to FIGS. 3 and 4 is basically constructed like that according to FIGS. 1 and 2 with the difference that the back cushion 13 is extended upwards to a back cushion 14 which extends essentially over the entire back area. The support plate 10 lies in its upper region with its back on the front of a plate 15, which forms part of the frame 1, the support for the back of the chair. This plate 15 is also provided in the embodiment of FIGS. 1 and 2, but not shown in the drawing.

The back cushion is attached to the support plate 10 via a Velcro tape or the like. A sufficient distance is provided between the back cushion 14 and the plate 15.

The second embodiment is explained below with reference to FIGS. 5-8. The same reference numerals denote the same components therein, so that the basic structure of this seating furniture need not be explained in more detail.

Instead, however, the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4 could also be provided in this regard.

The pivotable headrest consists of a plate 21, the lower edge of which is pivotally connected to the upper edge of the backrest 2 via a horizontally extending joint 22. A gas pressure spring 23 engages on the one hand on the backrest 2, namely on the back, and on the other hand on the back of the plate 21. The gas pressure spring endeavors to move the plate 21 from the initial position shown in FIG. 5 in the direction of arrow 24 to the rest position Fig. 6 to pivot, in which the hop rest assumes an upright position.

In order to synchronize the movement of the seat 3 with the pivoting of the headrest, a cable 25 is attached to the upper end of the plate 21, which is guided over rollers 26 attached to the frame and the other end 27 is attached to the lower, rear end of the frame 3 is.

If the seat is moved forward, a corresponding length of the cable is released and the headrest is pivoted in the direction of arrow 21 into the position shown in FIG. 6. At the same time, the support plate 10 pivots into the flatter position, also shown in FIG. 6.

The backrest 2 and the plate 21 are padded with the cushion 13, which has a slot accessible from the bottom, so that the cushion can be pushed onto both plates from above. In the area of the joint 22, the cushion has a fold line on the back. A sleeve 28 is guided on the back of the cushion through a hole provided there. The upper end of the cable 25 is guided through the sleeve 28, which thus protects the cushion there.
