Description

The invention relates to a hand and forearm protection for intercepting bumps in martial arts, such as contact karate sports.

In these martial arts, the main means of attack and defense are blows with the fist and forearm, as well as blows with the foot and heel, which can have considerable force. In order to avoid direct body hits, it is important for the opponent to ward off these blows and knocks beforehand, which is best suited for the hand, fist and forearm.

However, it requires careful and persistent training to learn how to apply and repel these bumps and punches so that the risk of injury is minimal during the actual competition. To make training easier, it is advisable for the attacked partner to provide adequate protection for the hand and forearm. Attempts have already been made to wrap hand and forearm with soft, elastic material in order to reduce the force of the hits to be warded off. However, this protection is generally not very effective and, above all, not very durable; in addition, the creation requires considerable preparation time.

The invention is therefore based on the object of providing hand and forearm protection which is easy to put on and which, in addition to high fatigue strength, provides optimal protection for the defending partner as well as elastic cushioning of the bumps and blows of the active partner.

To solve this problem it is therefore provided according to the invention that the hand and forearm protection consists of an at least all around the hand and forearm area enveloping hand claw, which has an approximately cuboid base body and a continuous central recess in the longitudinal direction for receiving hand and forearm and the is made of integral polyurethane foam, and that the central recess in the region of its upper end has a cross-section projecting from one side of the recess with a laterally adjoining recessed grip for holding the hand claw.

Such a claw made of soft elastic material offers optimal protection because it can be held easily and safely, and can be safely excluded with injuries to the forearm and gripping hand, since these two areas are enclosed by the claw because it extends over the entire length of the hand .

For this purpose, it is expedient if the upper edge of the handle web ends at a predetermined distance from the upper end face of the hand claw.

Furthermore, it should have rounded edges on all sides and its outer surfaces should be slightly convex to safely rule out an additional risk of injury.

In addition to safely prevent sweat or dirt on the surface or in the tiny pores, the claw can be provided with a firmly adhering, elastic varnish, which is easy to wipe off after using the claw.

The hand claw provided overall with the reference number 1 in the figures consists of a molded-in molded part made of integral polyurethane foam. The main advantage of such an integral foam is that it has an almost closed skin surface that forms a densified edge zone during the foaming process, which merges into the cellular core like a sandwich. The existing regular molecular crosslinking results in an extraordinarily high elasticity. In the event of a deformation or an impact, the integral polyurethane foam absorbs the kinetic energy and returns to its original shape after relief. This is achieved in that the closed cell structure and the non-directional cell walls result in an air cushion braking effect, which ensures shock absorption and optimal springback. The solid skin of the molded part, which merges into the cellular core like a sandwich, is created on the molded foam workpiece in one step from the same material.

As can be seen from the figures, the hand claw consists of an approximately cuboid base body 1 with edges and corners that are strongly rounded on all sides. Their useful length is approximately 30 cm, the overall length to width to thickness being 3: 2: 1.5. The hand claw 1 also has a central recess 2, whose approximately elliptical cross section on the lower end face 3 has the size for receiving the forearm, as can also be seen from the view according to FIG. 4. The cross section narrows slightly towards the inside - as can be seen in particular from FIG.

Approximately in the upper third of the recess 2, a web 5 protrudes from one of the flat side walls thereof with an inclined projection 4 into the cross section of the recess 2, to which a recessed grip 6 adjoins on the side facing away from the recess. The web 5 is formed continuously from one narrow side of the claw to the other narrow side, as can also be seen from the view of the upper end face 7 in accordance with FIG. 3.

The hand inserted into the recess 2 then encloses the web 5 with the fingers to firmly hold the hand claw, the fingertips lying in the recessed grip 6. The upper edge 8 of the web 5 is expediently so far below the upper end face 7 of the claw 1 that the holding hand with the fingers angled into the recessed grip 6 is still fully within the recess 2, so that the hand is full even when struck on the upper end face 7 is protected.

The entire molded part made of integral polyurethane foam is still elastic despite its relatively dense surface Lacquer coated to close even the smallest pores on the surface. In addition to a better finish, this prevents dirt or sweat from sticking to the surface. The hand claw can then be easily cleaned by simply washing it off and is therefore always ready for use.

The hand claw according to the invention thus represents an ideal hand and forearm protection for all athletes of martial arts who struggle with hand and fist blows and / or foot strokes, such as in contact karate to conventional boxing. The hand claw, which can be guided safely and easily, can be used on both sides with its front and back for punching and pushing exercises with hands and feet, making it an ideal exercise cushion to ward off such blows. Due to their shape and design, neither the forearm nor the grip hand can be injured.
