Abstract

The foldable cantilever comprises a supporting arm formed by a U-profile. A supporting flap extends obliquely from the web of this profile section. The supporting arm is hingedly connected to a jib. A strut is, furthermore, also hingedly connected to the jib. The supporting arm, the jib and the strut are U-shaped profile sections. In use the U-profile which forms the strut supports itself on a supporting flap formed on the web of the profile section forming the supporting arm. A strut controlled slider is arranged in the supporting arm. The strut is connected by a tension spring to the jib. This tension spring leads to the lower edge of the strut being biased against or towards, respectively, the supporting arm. Accordingly, the foldable cantilever occupys in its shipping state only a small space and it is possible to open it to its operating position by means of only one manually made movement thereof.

Description

The invention relates to a folding console, with a support arm, a cantilever arm and a strut extending between the support arm and the cantilever arm.

The three main elements that make up a console naturally describe a triangle. Because this is now quite space-consuming during storage and shipping, the brackets for storage and shipping are disassembled into individual parts. These then have to be assembled in a time-consuming manner for use. If such consoles are only required for a limited period of time so that they can be folded up at the place of use, complex and correspondingly expensive constructions are often used.

Hier will die Erfindung Abhilfe schaffen. The invention seeks to remedy this. The invention, as characterized in the claims, solves the problem of creating a folding console which has articulated arms which are nested for storage and shipping.

The advantages achieved by the invention are essentially to be seen in the fact that the arms are nested in one another in a space-saving manner for storage and in the state ready for dispatch, and that simply opening the console brings the console into the ready-to-use state. Screw bolts and the complex assembly of the same are not necessary dig. The K lappkonsole is characterized by a great simplicity.

The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of drawings which illustrate only one embodiment. It shows:
  • 1 is a side view of a folding console in the operating position, partially drawn in section,
  • 2 shows a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1,
  • Fig. 3 is a simplified view of the folding console shown in Fig. 1, the parts being drawn in one position when they are folded out, and
  • Fig. 4 is a view similar to that of Fig. 3, showing the position of the parts when folded.

The folding console has a support arm 1, a cantilever arm 2 and a strut 3. It is connected to a wall or support frame by means of the support arm 1. The cantilever arm 2 is used to hold loads and can be connected to a tray board, for example. The support arm 1 is a U-profile 4 with a web 7 and legs 10 projecting therefrom (see also FIG. 2). The cantilever arm 2 is a U-profile 5 with a web 8 and legs 11 and the strut 3 is a U-profile 6 with a web 9 and legs 12. The dimensions, in particular, of the webs 7, 8, 9 are such that the inside diameter of the profile piece 4, that is to say its distance between the legs 10 is greater than the outside width of the profile piece 5, the outside width of the profile piece 6 being smaller than the inside width of the profile piece 5, that is to say the distance between its legs 11. Thus, these three profile pieces can be arranged nested in one another in a folded state. The "pro Filstück 5 of the cantilever arm 2 is articulated by means of a pivot pin 13 on the profile piece 4 of the support arm 1. Furthermore, the profile piece 6 of the strut 3 is articulated by means of a further pivot pin 14 on the profile piece 5 of the extension arm 2, the respective pivot pins 13, 14 passing through the corresponding legs of the profile pieces. Next is in the legs 10, 11 of the first profile piece 4 and. of the third profile piece 6, a hole 23 is formed, which holes each serve to receive a locking pin passing through them. In the first profile piece 4, a slide 17 is arranged in the form of a sheet metal strip. This slide 17 has an obliquely bent end section 18 at its lower end and an end section 19 projecting perpendicularly therefrom at the opposite end. A flap-shaped stop 20 (see FIG. 2) protrudes obliquely inward from each of the legs 10, whereby the slide 17 is also slidably guided along the web 7. A lug 24 projects from the web 7 and a spring 22 is inserted between this lug 24 and the end section 19 of the slide 17, which biases the slide 17 downward. Furthermore, a support tab 15 projects from the web 7 into the space between the legs 10 at an oblique angle.

The end of the strut 3 forming the third arm 6 on the side of the cantilever arm is connected to a tension spring 16 which engages in the second profile piece 5 of the cantilever arm 2. The point of attack of the tension spring 16 on the third profile piece 6 is such that the third profile piece 6 is biased against the first profile piece 4 in such a way that the end of the third profile piece 6 located at the first profile piece 4 is biased clockwise, so that the lower end of the Strut 3 is always biased to bear on the support arm 1.

The folding console is operated as follows. When it is ready for dispatch, it is off arm 2 pivoted downwards, so that it is completely accommodated in the support arm 1, the strut 3 running within the extension arm 2 and thus also within the extension arm 1, so that a space-saving shape is present.

Reference is now made to FIG. 3. When the extension arm 2 is opened, the lower end of the strut 3 located in the support arm 1 moves against the support tab 15 and moves in contact with the end section 18 of the slide 17. Thus, the lower end of the strut 3, i.e. whose web 9 on the end portion 18 of the slide 17. Due to the action of the tension spring 16, there is pressure contact here. When the cantilever arm 2 is pivoted further in the direction of arrow A in FIG. 3, the slider 17 is now pushed upwards due to the pressure contact, namely until the end section 18 comes to rest on the stops 20. Then the cantilever arm 2 is pivoted downward, so that the lower end edge of the strut 3 is moved so that it rests against the web 7 of the support arm 1, in such a way that the support tab 15 moves into the space between the web 7 and the legs 10 of the strut 3 comes to lie. In this position, which is shown in FIG. 1, the folding console is ready for use. A locking pin penetrating the holes 23 in the legs can be inserted to lock the folding bracket i.

To fold the cantilever arm 2 is initially pivoted in the direction of the dashed portion of arrow B of FIG. 4, such that the lower end edge of the web 9 of the strut 3 slides over the end portion 18 of the slider 17. Then the cantilever arm 2 is pivoted in the direction of the extended portion of the arrow B in FIG. 4. Because the lower end edge of the web 9 of the strut 3 now rests on the end section 18 of the slider 17, the slider 17 being arranged so as to be easily displaceable, the end is pivoted downward by pivoting the extension arm 2 section 18 of the slider 17 pushed to rest on the contact flaps 15 of the arm 1. The continued downward pivoting of the cantilever arm 2 now causes the web 9 of the strut 3 to move upwards along the end section 18 and thus to be pushed over the support tab 15, so that the cantilever arm 2 is pivoted down again for nesting in the support arm 1 can.

The spring 22 shown in this exemplary embodiment, which does not have to be present in every embodiment, serves to bias the slide 17 against the support tab 15, which configuration can be advantageous for some embodiments. The spring strength of the spring 22 is however such that the slide 17 can be displaced against this spring force in any case when the extension arm 2 is folded up (FIG. 3).
