Definitions
- the invention relates to a sprinkler which can be varied to suit different irrigation needs (for example with regard to the jet strength and droplet size) and which has a tubular nozzle (fan nozzle) which can be swiveled back and forth about an approximately horizontal axis and has linearly arranged nozzle bores which are so different from the radial of the fan nozzle are inclined that there is a fan-like arrangement of the water jets, the fan nozzle cooperating with a variable sleeve that can be placed concentrically on it and rotated relative to it, with radial openings to vary the irrigation, which variable sleeve can be removed from the fan nozzle for a non-varied operation of the nozzle.
- a tubular nozzle fan nozzle
- the well-known garden sprinklers of this type are primarily so-called square sprinklers. They are used to water lawns as well as vegetable and flower beds. However, a drop of a certain drop size is not equally suitable for the two irrigation purposes mentioned. Lawns are no problem with regard to the drop size. You can also tolerate slightly larger drops of water without damage. However, this does not apply to vegetables and flowers.
- the variation sleeve is a regulating sleeve which can be adjusted manually to different angular positions within the fan nozzle while overcoming the friction. It can be used to vary the size of the area to be irrigated.
- the emerging water jets can also be atomized. However, such a nebulization reduces the throw range. It is also not necessary for the most sensitive crops.
- the object of the invention is to further develop a sprinkler of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that, on the one hand, lawn areas with maximum output and irrigation area and, on the other hand, optionally also more sensitive crops can be irrigated, optimal droplets adapted to the specific need of these cultures, or optimal droplet size .
- variation sleeve is a rotatably mounted roller which surrounds the cylindrical fan nozzle and is designed as a turbine wheel and acted upon by the water jets to generate a torque.
- the pedestal 10 carries the housing 11 for driving the fan nozzle 13.
- the water supplied enters the housing 11 and acts on a turbine wheel there.
- the turbine wheel drives a crank 17 via a strongly reduced gear, which is connected in an articulated manner to a radial arm of the cylindrical fan nozzle 13 via a crank rod 18.
- the fan nozzle is rotatably mounted in the housing 11.
- the fan nozzle 13 is pivoted back and forth about a horizontal axis bb by the crank mechanism 17, 18. This results in a roughly rectangular irrigation area because of the nozzles Bores 15 are inclined so differently against the radials aa that the water jets emerge in a fan-like arrangement approximately in one plane.
- the fan nozzle 13 is closed at the end by means of a screw plug 14.
- a roller 20 can be axially fitted onto the fan nozzle.
- the clear width of the roller 20 is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the cylindrical fan nozzle 13.
- the roller 20 When plugged in, the roller 20 rotatably rests on the fan nozzle 13, a running joint 23a remaining between the outer lateral surface of the fan nozzle and the inner lateral surface of the roller.
- the roller 20 has a collar 20a on the side facing the drive of the fan nozzle. The collar is formed by a short section of the roller of smaller diameter; it has two incisions 23, as can be seen in particular from FIGS. 3, 7.
- the inner edges 22 When plugged in, the inner edges 22 are bent open and then snap into the incisions 23. Since the distance between the inner edges 22 of the ring 21 is smaller than the outer diameter of the fan nozzle 13, these inner edges snap slightly into the ring groove 19 of the fan nozzle when the roller 20 is axially attached. As a result, the roller is axially secured in its operating position. However, the distance between the inner edges 22 is somewhat larger than the diameter of the roller 20 which is reduced at the base 19a of the annular groove 19, so that these inner edges 22 engage in the annular groove 19 with play.
- the width of the resilient ring 21 is slightly less than the width of the annular groove 19, so that the side surfaces of the ring 21 in the area of their inner edges 22 in the annular groove 19 have play and so the smoothness of the roller 20 is ensured.
- at least the wall of the annular groove 19 facing away from the housing 11 is against the Swivel axis bb inclined. This inclination has the consequence that the inner edges 22 slide on the inclined wall of the annular groove 19 when the roller 20 is pulled axially and are slightly bent out, so that the roller 20 can be removed.
- the spherical cap-shaped design of the locking screw 14 facilitates the attachment of the roller 20 by a certain centering effect.
- the openings in the roller are longitudinal slots 24 in the example shown in the drawing.
- the webs 20b remaining between the longitudinal slots are inclined against the radial lines aa.
- Each web 20b which, when the roller 20 rotates, passes through the surface line of the fan nozzle 13 which passes through the nozzle bores 15 is therefore acted upon by the water jets emerging. This results in a torque for the roller 20, which works as a turbine wheel.
- the water jets 16 emerging from the nozzle bores 15 are thereby disturbed. This desirably reduces the drop size.
- the basic geometric figure of the irrigated area remains largely unchanged. The area is only getting a little smaller because the water jets lose their kinetic energy.
- the running joint 23a of the roller 20 is limited to the axial region of the webs 20b. Outside of the running joint 23a, the roller 20 is guided with play on the jacket of the fan nozzle 13.
- the nozzle bores 15 lie approximately in a radial plane of the fan nozzle 13.
- the water jets 16 consequently emerging in this radial plane act on the flanks of the webs 20b, which are inclined against this plane.
- this torque can also be generated thereby be that the nozzle bores 15 of the fan nozzle 13 inclined against the above-mentioned radial plane of the fan nozzle 13 and the above-mentioned flanks of the webs are strictly radially aligned. Because even in this case there is an application to generate a torque.

Abstract
A roller (20) is detachably fitted and rotatably mounted on the cylindrical fan nozzle (13) of the square sprinkler which can be swiveled back and forth. The roller (20) designed as a turbine wheel is acted upon by the water jets emerging from the fan nozzle (13) at webs (20b) which act as turbine wheel blades. This ensures that the square sprinkler with the roller (20) pulled off at full throwing distance and coarse water jets z. B. for lawns and with attached roller (20) in disturbed, that is, finer water jets z. B. can be used for more sensitive cultures.
Description
The invention relates to a sprinkler which can be varied to suit different irrigation needs (for example with regard to the jet strength and droplet size) and which has a tubular nozzle (fan nozzle) which can be swiveled back and forth about an approximately horizontal axis and has linearly arranged nozzle bores which are so different from the radial of the fan nozzle are inclined that there is a fan-like arrangement of the water jets, the fan nozzle cooperating with a variable sleeve that can be placed concentrically on it and rotated relative to it, with radial openings to vary the irrigation, which variable sleeve can be removed from the fan nozzle for a non-varied operation of the nozzle.
The well-known garden sprinklers of this type are primarily so-called square sprinklers.
The drops from square sprinklers are generally relatively coarse because the area coverage of such a sprinkler is greater the stronger its water jets are and normally a large area coverage is desired. Therefore, such a square sprinkler cannot be recommended for garden irrigation without restrictions.
In a known sprinkler of the type under consideration (DE-PS 1 926 735), the variation sleeve is a regulating sleeve which can be adjusted manually to different angular positions within the fan nozzle while overcoming the friction. It can be used to vary the size of the area to be irrigated. The emerging water jets can also be atomized. However, such a nebulization reduces the throw range. It is also not necessary for the most sensitive crops.
Proceeding from this, the object of the invention is to further develop a sprinkler of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that, on the one hand, lawn areas with maximum output and irrigation area and, on the other hand, optionally also more sensitive crops can be irrigated, optimal droplets adapted to the specific need of these cultures, or optimal droplet size .
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the variation sleeve is a rotatably mounted roller which surrounds the cylindrical fan nozzle and is designed as a turbine wheel and acted upon by the water jets to generate a torque.
Such a solution to the problem also has the advantage that pronounced spraying is possible if the roller is designed accordingly.
Further refinements of the invention result from the subclaims.
The invention will now be described with reference to the drawing an embodiment explained.

The
The running joint 23a of the
In the exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing, the nozzle bores 15 lie approximately in a radial plane of the
