a device (38) for heating at least one elongate thermodilatable portion (22, 46, 76, 84, 104, 114) of the positioning means, which portion connects the two points of cooperation, and a member for controlling the heating device (38) as a function of the desired position of the doctor blade relative to the support (10), characterised in that the positioning means comprises two elements of which only the first element forms the said thermodilatable portion (22, 46, 76, 84, 104, 114), one end of which is connected to the first point mentioned above via the second element of the positioning means, this element, which is also elongate, serving as a mounting means (34, 50, 78, 86), one end of which is fixed to the said first point while its other end is connected to the other end of the thermodilatable portion (22, 46, 76, 84, 104, 114), this end being located, when viewed from the second point (24, 62), beyond the said first point, and the said mounting means (34, 50, 78, 86) being parallel to the said thermodilatable portion (22, 46, 76, 84, 104, 114), this end being located, when viewed from the second point (24, 62), beyond the said first point, and the said mounting means (34, 50, 78, 86) being parallel to the said thermodilatable portion (22, 46, 76, 84, 104, 114).

5. Apparatus according to claim 3, characterised in that the above-mentioned mounting means (78) comprises a heating device (80).
6. Apparatus according to claim 5, characterised in that it also comprises a heat insulation device (82) that is located between the mounting means (78) and the thermodilatable portion (76).
7. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the positioning means also comprises a power transmission element for causing the displacement of the doctor blade in the said predetermined direction, while the thermodilatable portion expands and contracts in another direction.
8. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that it also comprises a multiplying element (54) that causes a displacement of the doctor blade (14) that is substantially equal to a multiple of the distance covered by the end of the thermodilatable portion (46) that is opposite the end connected to the mounting means (50).
9. Apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the device (38) for heating the thermodilatable portion and, if appropriate, the device (80) for heating the mounting means are included in the group that comprises at least a Joule-effect heating element that is in thermal contact with the positioning means, a device for heating the positioning means directly, by the Joule effect, by passing an electric current through that means, a flame heating device and a device for heating by contact with a heat-exchanging liquid.
