Abstract

1. Float, specially designed for surfacing, plastering and suchlike, consisting of a flat (10) for picking up, applying and distributing paste-like compounds, such as mortar (44), the top of the flat being fitted with a mounting element (18) for the grip (20), which, in turn, consists of a neck section (32) fitted to the mounting element (18) and being at right angles to the flat (10) and a handle section (21) which extends approximately parallel (28) to the flat (10), having a groove (38) located between the neck and the handle sections (32, 21) on the lower surface (26) of the grip (20) facing the flat (10) and a knee (33), located at the top surface (24) of the grip (20) and facing away from flat (10) featuring a longitudinally-concentric axial surface (34) for resting the extended thumb (12) from the hand gripping the handle section (21), characterized by a straight length (31) which is slightly inclined and located on the top surface (24) of the grip (20) between the vertical neck section (32) and the handle section (21) parallel to the flat and at both ends bounded by knee sections (30, 33), the straight length (31) on the bottom surface (26) of the handle being opposite the groove (38), and the straight length (31), together with the neck section (32) forming a guide surface (22) of mainly uniform section for finger control (12, 13, 46, 47), over the entire length of which guide surface (22) extends the longitudinally-concentric axial surface (34), made up by the level sections in the neck section (32) on the one hand and in the straight length (31) on the other, flush longitudinal surfaces (35, 35'), staggered by longitudinal edges (37) arranged along the two sides of this axial surface (34) to provide rests for alternative extended thumb positions (12).
