Es sind unterschiedliche elektrische Drahtheizelemente bekannt, deren Heizleiter auf kreuz-oder sternförmig zusammengesetzte Trägerplatten gewickelt ist. Die verwendeten Trägerplatten können rechteckig oder trapezförmig ausgebildet sein, wobei die Trapezform gegenüber der, z. B. aus der DE-B-1 540731 bekannten, rechteckigen Form den Vorteil hat, dass die darauf gewickelten Heizleiterwindungen im Luftstrom nicht genau hintereinanderliegend, sondern stufenförmig gestaffelt angeordnet sind. Hierdurch erreicht man, dass aufeinanderfolgende Heizleiterwindungen einander nicht ganz verdecken, so dass die vom Gebläse längs den Trägerplatten geförderte Luft nicht nur die erste, sondern auch die folgenden Heizleiterwindungen treffen und besser umströmen kann. Beispiele für derartige Drahtheizelemente sind z. B. in folgenden Druckschriften dargestellt und beschrieben:

Die zur Richtung L des Luftstromes senkrechten Plattenkanten 12, 22, 32 und 42 auf der dem Gebläse zugewandten Seite weisen in dem wiedergegebenen Beispiel unterschiedliche Längen auf, während die entsprechenden Kanten 13, 23, 33 und 43 am anderen Ende gleichlang sind. Damit ist dieses Heizelement in seiner Längserstreckung einer Änderung des Strömungsquerschnitts von oval zu rund angepasst. Durch gestrichelte Linien ist angedeutet, dass die Trägerplatten - insbesondere zur Erzeugung einer konstanten freien Spannungslänge a des Heizleiters 5 - kurvenförmige, z.
