Description

The invention relates to a method and a device for the production of tape rolls of narrow tape strips cut from a wide tape, in particular narrow film strips, according to the preambles of patent claims 1 and 5.

Diese Bandstreifen werden dann gewöhnlich auf einen Rollenkern aufgewickelt, um sie leichter transportieren zu können (US-A-1 905446).Tape material is often covered or otherwise treated in widths of up to one and a half meters and then cut into narrow tape strips, which in the case of narrow film strips are often not allowed to be wider than 16 mm. These tape strips are then usually wound onto a roll core to make them easier to transport (US-A-1 905446).

It is generally required that the trailing end of a strip of tape material wound into a roll be attached to the underlying winding of the roll to prevent the wound roll from unintentionally unwinding. Often, the trailing end of such a tape strip is glued to the underlying winding by means of a short piece of pressure-sensitive adhesive tape. The piece of adhesive tape can also lie over a window in the tape strip and adhere through it to the underlying roll (US Pat. No. 3,022,170). A separate piece of adhesive tape is usually assigned to each strip of tape, the attachment of which is often still carried out manually or even mechanically (US Pat. No. 1,905,446). The manual application of the pieces of adhesive tape is tedious and time-consuming, the mechanical application of the same is also relatively difficult and requires relatively complicated equipment.

The present invention is intended to eliminate these inconveniences and simplify the production of tape rolls.

This object of the invention is achieved by a method and a device of the type described at the outset, the features of which are described in claims 1 and 5, while features of preferred embodiments of the invention are listed in the remaining claims.

The holes in the tape strips can either be circular or elliptical, or they can be elongated into slots. They do not necessarily have to lie in the middle of the narrow strip of tape, but elongated slots can also be cut lengthways in the middle when the wide tape is cut open, so that slot halves are present as notches on the strip end concerned, which are covered by the adhesive tape. When pressed for the purpose of sticking, the glue points are then on both sides of the tape strip instead of in the middle.

Is a double row of holes transversely punched across the strip width, so, each punch hole is preferably the shape of an elongated in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the tape slot, the slot length, preferably, the width of the tape strip corresponds, while the diameter of the punched hole transverse to the tape strip longitudinal axis preferably 1/4 amounts to 3/4 of the band strip width.

The preferred use of adhesive strips which have alphanumeric characters on the outside has the advantage that the finished strips of tape strips are already numbered. Stitch code means can also be used here.

In the device according to the invention, the pressing means used can be those which can press both the leading end of the strip on the roll core and the trailing end of the strip on the outer winding of the roll underneath. If two rows of holes are to be punched across the tape, this can be done in succession with a single punch, but it is preferred to use two punches at the same time in order to ensure a precise distance between the two rows of holes. The adhesive tape used here is preferably sufficiently wide to cover both rows of holes in the double row at the same time. If the tape obtained in this way is cut across the band width between the two rows of holes, the holes of one row are at the trailing end and those of the other row are at the leading end of the tape strips obtained during the longitudinal cutting.

In the preferred use of a metal foil strip as a carrier for the pressure-sensitive adhesive, the metal foil can also serve to activate the cutting device.

The tapes of the wide tape may be serrated, wrinkled, or damaged in some other way before or during processing. When the wide strip is cut into strip strips, the two outer strips on the right and left edges of the wide strip are treated as rejects. No holes need to be punched out in the area of these two strip strips.

The method and apparatus according to the invention are particularly advantageous for the production of roll film material, e.g. B. used in particular by narrow film rolls. Some photographic film material must additionally have a perforation along one edge or along both edges, which must be applied after the wide tape has been cut into the individual tape strips, but before rolling up. In such cases, a perforator of a conventional type can be interposed between the cutting device and the winding device of the device according to the invention the. However, the holes created in this perforation are too small to allow the leading end of the tape strip to be glued to the core of the reel or the trailing end to the underlying winding of the reel if they are covered with adhesive strips.

If it is said here that there must be a hole at at least one end of each narrow strip of tape, it goes without saying that this hole can of course also be punched out as a correspondingly large notch on the right and / or left edge of the strip instead of in the middle of the strip.

In the device shown in Fig. 1, the photographic film material coated with a light-sensitive gelatin emulsion layer in the form of a tape 1 is moved through the device by contact with the rotating drive rollers 2 and 3. The belt 1 driven in this way passes under the punches 4a and 4b, two rows 5a and 5b being formed from punched holes in the belt 1. The tape 1 then passes through an adhesive tape application device 6, in which pressure-sensitive adhesive material is pulled off an adhesive tape roll 7 and across the tape 1, covering the rows of holes 5a and 5b, glued facing the adhesive side of the tape surface and cut off by means of a knife 8, so that on the Film covering the holes of both rows of holes 5a and 5b an adhesive strip 9 remains. The tape 1 carrying this adhesive strip 9 is then fed to a cutting device 10 which cuts the tape 1 into strips 11, each of which has two holes covered by a short piece 12 of adhesive material. Each of the strips 11 is fed to a roll core 13 and is immediately cut between the holes in the adjacent rows 5a and 5b by means of the cutter 14. When the trailing end of each strip 11 containing the hole runs onto the core 13, a pressure roller 15 presses against this trailing end and thereby causes this end to stick to the roll. The leading ends, containing the holes in row 5b, of the next strips 11 are now fed to new roll cores 13. When it arrives on the cores 13, the roller 15 immediately presses against the leading ends of the tape strips and sticks them to the roller cores 13. The tape strip is then wound up until the roll on the core 13 has reached a desired size, whereupon the cutter 14 repeats the process described above and the roller 15 then glues the trailing end of each tape strip 11 onto the roll winding underneath.

Since in practice each of the strips of a strip often has a bevel, each strip is preferably wound onto its associated roll core 13 at a different level from the adjacent strips.

In Fig. 3 the leading end of a film strip 11 is shown, which has a punched hole 5b, which is covered by a short piece of adhesive tape 12. The central area of this adhesive strip 12 has pushed into the hole 5b and is glued to the roll core.

The pressure roller 15 preferably has a foam rubber coating in order to achieve close contact between the pressure-sensitive inside of the piece of adhesive tape 12 and the surface of the core 13.

In a preferred mode of operation, a 1.45 m wide band of film material is cut into 89 usable narrow film strips, which are each individually wound onto driven roll cores 13. The distance between the punch 4a and the driven roller cores 13 is preferably one meter in this device. In doing so, film material strips with a length of 30 m each should be wound onto each roll core.

When starting up, the belt 1 is guided through the device with the aid of drive rollers 2 and 3, and the individual narrow film strips 11 produced therein are then automatically guided onto the driven roller cores 13 and their leading ends pressed onto the cores. Initially, only the punch 4a is started, since at the start of operation only one hole per film strip is required. The tape 1 runs through the device, the number of revolutions of each roll core being recorded and, as soon as this number of revolutions corresponds to a length of 29 m of film material wound on the core 13, the punches 4a and 4b are activated in order to punch the rows of holes 5a and 5b to generate at the same time. When these rows of holes arrive in the adhesive tape attachment device 6, the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape 9 mentioned is then applied covering the double row of holes on the web 1 and cut off by means of the knife 8. The web now passes through the cutting device 10, and each narrow strip of tape 11 with the short piece 12 of adhesive tape 9 thereon now passes through the cutter 14, in which each strip 11 is cut simultaneously between the holes of rows 5a and 5b. The cut strips 11, which each have a hole at their leading end in the direction of the arrow and at their trailing end, are then wound onto their roll cores 13. When the reels are completely wound up, the drive rollers 1 and 2 are stopped and the further movement of the belt 1 by the device is thereby stopped. The trailing loose tape strip ends resting on the outermost winding of each roll are now firmly pressed onto the underlying winding of the film strip by rotating the roll by means of the driven cores 13 by the pressure rollers 15 and the loose end of the same is fixed. Because by pressing the adhesive located above the punched hole on the inside of the adhesive tape is activated and causes the firm adhesive connection of the trailing end with the film roll.

Each core 13 carrying a finished roll is then removed from the device and fresh roll cores 13 inserted into the device.

The drive rollers 1 and 3 are now started again and, as a result, strip strips 11 are automatically brought back to the new roll cores 13, which are then set in motion again, the leading ends of the strip strips being pressed against the pressure rollers 15 and firmly connected to them . Now, tape strips of 29 m in length are again wound onto the cores 13, the punching out of the holes, the application of adhesive strips over these and the cutting into narrow tape strips being repeated.
