Description

The invention relates to a key with a light indicator for keyboards in office and teleprinters.

To display certain operating states of devices operated via a keyboard, light-indicating elements are usually used, which are arranged separately outside the actual keypad. These arrangements are complex and also prone to failure because of the power supply via touch contacts.

The invention has for its object to provide individual keys in the keypad of a keyboard for signaling certain operating states with a light indicator. The requirement should be met that such a key with light indicator corresponds in terms of its dimensions to the normal keys used in the keypad. Furthermore, the light display itself should be good be visible and require little power. Finally, the button should be usable either with or without a mechanical locking device.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that a lateral opening for a light-emitting diode and a printed circuit board containing the plug-in device and the power supply for the light-emitting diode is provided in the key button, that the power supply takes place via flexible cables, for the implementation of which recesses are provided in the key base, and that between the recesses and the. PCB are guided in the form of an entangled loop.

With a key designed according to these features, only a very low current is required to operate the light display. Since the power is supplied via two flexible wires, the susceptibility to faults that occurs when using touch contacts is considerably reduced.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the circuit board, via which the current supply for the light-emitting diode is supplied, can be blasted into the button, which has advantages with regard to the manufacture of the button.

According to a further embodiment of the invention, the opening in the button for receiving the light-emitting diode is arranged in such a way that it lies in the operator's perspective. This has the advantage that the light display is clearly visible even in bright surroundings. Furthermore, this has the advantage that the surface of the button is available as a labeling surface and that the tip of the light-emitting diode does not interfere when the button is pressed.

The button with light indicator can be used without and with a mechanical storage ring for the switch position. In the first case, the illuminated display is switched on and off each time a key is pressed using subsequent electronics. In the second case, the button has a mechanical latching device, by means of which the button is held in the switched-on position after it has been actuated. The button is then released by pressing the button again. A configuration within the scope of the invention provides that a guide part is formed on the slide of the key to form a latching position and a rotatable link lever is attached to the housing of the key, which has a guide pin at the end remote from the fulcrum, which in the guide part when the key is pressed form-fitting slides that the guide part has a guide bevel ending in a groove and a locking recess into which the guide pin engages when the button is pressed, and that a guide edge extending from the locking recess in another direction is also provided on the guide part, via which upon renewed actuation the button, the guide pin returns to the starting position via a deflection recess. A button designed according to this embodiment offers the guarantee that a safe mechanical locking and unlocking is possible with relatively simple means.

Details of the invention are explained below with reference to the drawings. There shows
  • Fig. 1 shows the structure of a key with a light indicator according to the invention and
  • Fig. 2 is a schematic block diagram for explaining the locking and unlocking process.

The key shown in Fig. 1 consists of the button 1, the slide 3 protrudes into the key base 2. The button 1 contains the circuit board 4, which is, for example, blown into the button. The power supply for the light-emitting diode 5 takes place via the two flexible wires 6, which can be mechanically soldered together with the light-emitting diode 5 in the printed circuit board 4. The LED 5 is visible through a side opening of the button 1. The entangled loop of the flexible power supply cable enables a sufficiently high number of operations to be achieved without the risk of a wire break. The key base 2 has laterally known guide and holding devices, via which the key is inserted into a base plate and held there. The power supply cables 6 are passed through the base 2 and connected to a keyboard circuit board 7. To make it easier to insert the power supply cable 6 into the base 2 when the button 1 is attached, the ends of the power supply cable are provided with a crimpable release pin, for example, which establishes the mechanizable solder connection with the keyboard circuit board 7. The contact made when the button is pressed and thus the triggering of a function assigned to the button also takes place in a manner known per se via this printed circuit board. If the key is used as a so-called simple key, in which the indicator light is switched on and off each time a key is pressed by means of subsequent electronics, then a latching device can be dispensed with. In this case, the contact and the switching on of the light display are actuated with a first key press and switched off again with a second key press. The button is used in facilities where either no subsequent electronics are provided, or in which in addition to that mentioned ten switch-on still a mechanical locking position is required, the button has a molded on the slide 3 guide part 10, and on the base 2 one-sided rotatably mounted link lever 8. At the pivot point 11 opposite end of the link lever 8 this runs out in a guide pin 12 , which is guided in a form-fitting manner in the guide part 10 when a button is pressed. Further details of the design of the guide part 10 will now be given in the following with reference to FIG. 2 in the description of the mode of operation of a latching or unlocking process.

In the unactuated state of the button, the guide pin 12 of the link lever 8 bears against the guide bevel 13 of the guide part 10, as in FIG. 2 is shown. If the key is actuated, the guide part 10 moves downward and the guide pin 12 slides along the guide bevel 13 with simultaneous deflection about the pivot point 11 up to a groove 14 which forms an end stop and into which the guide pin drops. This position of the guide pin 12 limits the depth of the button. If the button is now released, the guide pin 12 of the link lever 8 follows a guide edge 15 until it engages in a locking recess 16, thereby preventing the slide 3 from returning further. The button is mechanically locked in this position. At the same time, the contacts to the subsequent electronics, not shown, are made in this position of the key, and the light indicator is switched on. In order to unlock the key again, a new key actuation is required, with the guide pin 12 of the link lever 8 now being guided out of the locking recess 16 in the other direction along the guide edge 17 up to a deflection recess 18. The locking position of the slide 3 is thus canceled, and when canceled When the button is pressed, the guide pin 12 slides back along the guide edge 19 into the starting position. The button is now back in the unactuated starting position.

Since the light-emitting diode used as the light indicator is only in the push-button button, each normal button can be designed as a light button in the manner described. This ensures particularly economical production and the installation conditions for illuminated buttons are identical to those for normal buttons.
