Description

The present invention relates to corkscrews equipped with means making it possible to reduce in considerable proportions the effort and the time of extraction of the corks from bottles or similar containers.

A corkscrew with gear reduction by hoist is already known, described in French patent No. 1,589,350 and in German patent (FRG) No. 204,020. The embodiment of these corkscrews is complicated and expensive, moreover, they generate friction which makes lose part of the gain of the reduction of the extraction effort. In addition, it is very difficult to extract the plugs which have been pulled at an angle and which are caught in the tubular body.

The object of this corkscrew is to overcome these various drawbacks while offering a very simple and very fast use.

The invention which is based on the art known by French patent N ° 1,589,350 as analyzed in the preamble of claims 1 and 3, is characterized by the subject of the claims and solves the problem of creating a corkscrew with gear reduction by hoist very simple to manufacture and to assemble, designed according to two versions of increasing simplicity.

The first version according to the invention simplifies the corkscrew described in the French patent cited above, and in particular the design of the operating handle and the mounting. The elastic return means is a central guide rod passing through the upper block inserted in the lower block, on which is slid a return spring resting on each of the blocks. The lower block moves a stroke equal to that of the extraction while the upper block is fixed. The operating handle integral with the outer telescopic tube moves with it, driving the traction belt of the lower block.

The second version is even simpler than the previous one in that the telescopic tubes are replaced by a tubular body in the bottom of which is fixed the upper block which remains stationary. The lower muffle moves from the extraction stroke to go, at the end of the extraction stroke, in abutment against the upper muffle under the action of traction on a flexible cord which is wound on the two mittens and comes out of the tubular body through a hole in its upper end. The mittens and the tubular body are made of molded plastic, which eliminates many machining operations and reduces assembly time.

The advantages obtained thanks to this invention consist essentially in that the manufacturing and the assembly are greatly simplified, that the friction is very reduced and that, for the same reduction, the tensile force is less, moreover, the spin is found automatically centered on the cap to be extracted. It is easy to remove plugs that have been pulled at an angle and are stuck in the body.

La seconde partie du tube possède également un épaulement 3 qui sert d'appui interne au corps du moufle supérieur 4.The first embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2 comprises a main tube 1 flared at its base to serve as a guide and support on the neck of the bottles to be opened. This tube is shouldered in 2 so as to constitute an extraction end stop. The second part of the tube also has a shoulder 3 which serves as an internal support for the body of the upper block 4.

Le tube rallonge extérieur 25, sous l'action du ressort 11, se trouve en butée sur l'épaulement du tube 1.Three telescopic extension tubes 23, 24, 25, slide over each other to keep the handle 18 in the axis of the main tube 1 during the extraction of the plug. They are flared at their upper end and narrowed at the base to avoid their dislocation during sliding. To allow the screw 26 to be screwed into the stoppers by means of the handle 18, the various tubes have received four longitudinal stampings 27, 28, 29, 30, preventing the tubes from twisting (Fig. 3). The handle 18 is fitted into the free end of the outer tube 25, its two rods are engaged in the opposite grooves 31, 32 of the tube 25 to ensure the drive in rotation. The handle is either glued to the tube 25, or the tube 25 is crimped onto the handle so that it can be pulled without risking to dislodge it. When the handle 18 is pulled, traction is exerted on the belt, the tubes slide one on the other, the corkscrew lengthens, the gimlet washer 6 sinks into the body 1 until coming into abutment on the shoulder 2 at the end of extraction of the plug. The handle is then released and the return springs bring the lower block back to the low position for further extraction. The outer extension tube 25, under the action of the spring 11, is in abutment on the shoulder of the tube 1.

A lower block 5 made of folded sheet metal is secured to the swivel plate 6 by two rivets 7. The block 5 forms a yoke on which are mounted, on each side in cantilever, pulleys with identical grooves 8, 9 A central guide rod 10 carries a return spring 11 intended to bring the gimbal plate 6 back into the rest position. The guide rod 10 passes through the upper block 4, identical to the lower block, and is engaged in a central hole in a washer 12 for fixing the upper block on the end 3 of the tube 1 by means of blind rivets 13. The pulleys 8, 9 are mounted freely rotating on the axes 14, 15, crimped on the yoke. A flexible cable 16 which may be made of stranded steel, or of plastics material such as fishing line or braided rope having great resistance to elongation, is engaged, by its lower part, in a washer 6 stopped by a bulge 17 obtained by overmolding or by a crimped staple or by any other known means. It is then wound on the pulley 8 of the upper block, returns to the pulley 8 of the lower block and then rises on the pulley 9 of the upper block, descends on the pulley 9 of the lower block and goes up to hang on an operating handle 18 produced by molding. The attachment is effected on an axis 19 engaged in a groove 20 which may come from molding in the handle 18. The guide rod 10 can be immobilized at the lower recess. To prevent the cable from leaving the pulleys when elastic return to the rest position, lugs 21, 22 have been provided at the right of each pulley.

Les trous 36 reçoivent les rivets aveugles 13 assurant l'immobilisation sur le tube 1.Figure 5 shows the shape of the washer 12 for fixing the upper bearing on the shoulder of the tube 1. The slot 35 allows the passage of the cable to its point of attachment on the axis 19. The holes 36 receive the blind rivets 13 ensuring immobilization on the tube 1.

La figure 4 est une coupe suivant la flèche 37 (figure 1) montrant la disposition du moufle supérieur dans la partie rétrécie du tube 1, ainsi que l'emplacement des poulies 8, 9.FIG. 4 is a section along arrow 37 (FIG. 1) showing the arrangement of the upper block in the narrowed part of the tube 1, as well as the location of the pulleys 8, 9.

As shown in section in Figure 6, the second version of corkscrew according to the invention comprises a tubular body 40 which can be provided, outside, with means, polygonal sides, longitudinal grooves or the like, for ensure good manual holding of the tube for screwing because it is not necessary to use a handle as in previous versions since there is no pull on a telescopic tube. The lower part 41 is flared for centering on the upper part of the neck of the bottles at the end of screwing.

The telescopic tubes have been eliminated, the internal friction is therefore very reduced. The hauling is also simplified, it consists of the upper block 42 and the lower block 43 both obtained from injection molded plastic. The tubular body can be molded from light metal or also from plastic. All machining is eliminated except the gimbal plate 44 and the pulley axes.

The tubular body 40 has four grooves 45 (fig.8) serving as guidance and anti-rotation to the lower block 43 as well as to the plate 44 carrying the swirler 46 crimped or welded. The lower block 43 is fixed to the tendril plate by the crimps 47, from the stirrup 48 the crimps are executed during assembly of the mittens.

The stirrup 48 serves as a guide for the two return springs 49, 50. It passes through the upper block through the holes 51, 52, and the lower block through the holes 53, 54, these holes are cut over most of their length to ensure support and passage of return springs 49, 50.

As a variant, the pitch between the stirrup rods can be increased so as to leave only the base and a yoke to hold the axes of pulleys 55, 56 and 57, 58, the mittens as well as the axis 59 intended for the attachment of the cord 60 to the lower block.

The pins 59 can be free in their housing because they are held in place by the springs 49, 50. They can also be left free in their housing, but fitting them slightly hard in the pulleys or vice versa.

The crimps 61 are made after the stirrup has been placed in the muffle 42 and the springs 49, 50. The muffle 43 and the plate 44 are then placed and the crimping performed 47. The entire hoist is then engaged in the body 40. The upper block 42 is brought into abutment at the bottom of the tubular body 40 and is immobilized by a pin 62 passing through the body 40 and the block 42. The block could also be glued.

Figure 7 shows in section along B of Figure 6 the arrangement of the hoist. The cord 60 hooked on the axis 59, passes successively on the pulleys 58, 56, 57, 55, and leaves the tubular body 40 through the groove 63 (fig. 11) and through the hole 64 (fig. 8) to hang along the body 40 under the weight of the ring 65 on which it is fixed.

In FIG. 7, a variant of FIG. 6 has been shown, a sleeve 66 of molded plastic material, sliding on the lower end of the body 40 and capable of being clipped elastically into the grooves 67, 68, of the body 40. This sleeve has the function of centering the corkscrew on the bottle. Before placing the corkscrew, the sleeve 66 is pushed down until it snaps elastically into the groove 68 of the body. Then put the flared part of the socket on top of the neck of the bottle, then push the upper end of the tubular body, the socket unclips and rises slightly until the tip of the spin touches the cap on which it is then centered. It only remains to screw the spin until the lower end of the tubular body rests on the top of the neck of the bottle, the sleeve 66 is then completely reassembled on the body 40 and can be clipped into throat 67. All that remains is to pull the ring 65 to extract the plug. The lower block goes up in the body 40 until it comes into abutment on the upper block 42 at the end of extraction, while the stirrup 48 has come out of the body 40 through the hole 64 (shown in fine dotted lines in FIG. 6). When the cord 60 is released, the return springs 49, 50 bring the lower block 43 back into the down position until the upper part of the stirrup abuts on top of the block 42 .

The assembly of this second version of hoist corkscrew is extremely fast and is very inexpensive, which clearly differentiates it from the previous one.
