Abstract

Description

The present invention relates to a writing and / or display table, of simple construction and to a method of manufacturing such a table.

The invention is based on the use of a thin sheet of steel covered on one side with an outer plastic film, for example polyvinyl chloride.

The writing and / or display board is produced according to the invention by folding two opposite edges of a flat metal sheet thus prepared, on the side of its rear face, that is to say on the side of the face opposite to that which is prepared, and by placing a semi-rigid plate of light material against said rear face, this plate being held between the two folded edges. Longers or profiles can be added to cover the non-folded edges.

The folded edges can be made so that by juxtaposing several tables according to the invention according to their folded edges, these folded edges overlap and allow them to be fixed together.

To make a table according to the invention, one starts from a flat sheet 1 (FIG. 1) having a face R covered with an outer film of plastic material giving the desired coloring and allowing writing with the usual chalk, chalk with wax or with fatty components, with markers erasable with water or alcohol. This face will be called the front face and the '. opposite side will be called back side. Two opposite sides AB, CD of the sheet 1 are then folded in L or in U on the side of the rear face. Figure 2 shows an example in which the edges are folded in U, thus forming two grooves 2 and 3. Against the rear face of the sheet 1 and held by the grooves 2 and 3 is then adapted a semi-rigid plate 4 of light material, preferably an acoustic insulating material, for example expanded polystyrene (Figure 3). This plate 4 avoids the resonance of the contact noise on the face R and ensures the maintenance of the flatness of the writing surface.

The non-folded edges AC, BD can be covered with a spar or profile 5 of any material, fixed by any known means, for example by screws 6 (FIG. 4). A table 10 is thus produced in a very simple manner, both practical and elegant, which can serve as well as a writing surface as a display plan by means of magnets.

Figures 5 and 6 illustrate an exemplary embodiment comprising three tables 10 juxtaposed. The contiguous edges 11 of the adjacent tables are folded so as to overlap. The outer plates 12 of the folds are fixed to each other by any means: gluing, screwing, popage or the like. It is thus possible to create a large area with barely visible seams. This system makes it possible to aesthetically combine or alternate writing and / or display surfaces of various shades with decorative panels.
