Description

The longitudinal and transverse watertight design of electrical cables, which has previously gained importance mainly in the case of plastic-insulated communication cables, is increasingly also of concern to the designers and material technicians for plastic-insulated high-voltage and high-voltage cables. It is feared that water that has penetrated into such cables will lead to a deterioration in the insulation properties and possibly even to a breakdown. Trimmings can also be affected.

In order to prevent the penetration of moisture into the plastic insulation of medium and high-voltage cables and the axial penetration of moisture in such cables, it is known to exist between the multi-wire conductor and the insulation and / or between the outer conductive layer and that composed of wires or strips Screen, which is a concentric conductor, to arrange a moisture-absorbing layer or a moisture barrier and / or to fill the cavities in conductors constructed from wires with a compound which ensures longitudinal water resistance and / or cross water resistance. In a known medium or high voltage cable, the wires of the screen are therefore embedded in a conductive elastic mass (DE-A1-2514891). Furthermore, it is known to provide the conductive layer arranged under the screen with grooves or grooves running in the longitudinal direction of the cable and to fill these grooves or grooves with a sealing material which expands in the presence of water (DE-A1-2811 526). For sealing plastic-insulated telecommunications cables, the use of a swellable tape is also known, which consists of a water-soluble plastic mixed with swellable filler and which is primarily used to seal the gap between the cable core and the cable sheath (DE-A-2 158 996). For plastic-insulated power cables with a closed screen, it is also known to arrange a pad made of electrically conductive corrugated cardboard between the outer conductive layer and the screen, the troughs and peaks of which are filled with swelling agent (DE-AL -2 719 094). The additional longitudinal seal thus achieved between the conductive layer and the screen is achieved with another known cable with a swelling agent which is located on a tape-like carrier such as cable paper, paper fleece or plastic fleece (DE-B2-2007 163). It is also known to coat the closed screen on the inside with an electrically conductive polymer compound (US-A4 020 276).

The invention provides a new design of a single or multi-core electrical cable which has an extruded plastic insulation and a metal or plastic sheath and in which at least one conductor is constructed from stranded or spun metal wires or from spun metal strips and this conductor has a layer of electrically conductive Plastic is assigned. The new design is intended to ensure the longitudinal and transverse watertightness of the cable in the area of the multi-wire conductor. According to the invention it is therefore provided that an electrically conductive plastic fleece is arranged between the conductor and the conductive plastic layer, which is enriched with an agent swelling under the influence of moisture.

The new design provides a sufficient amount of swelling agent, so that the waterproofness of the cable is ensured in the area of the multi-wire conductor. This applies in particular to concentrically arranged conductors, for example shields of power cables or communication cables, which consist of a layer of round metal wires or a layer of profile wires or also of two or more spun metal strips. The use of an electrically conductive fleece ensures the electrical contact between the conductive layer of the cable and the conductor. Even when the electrically conductive fleece is enriched with an insulating swelling agent, contact between the electrically conductive fleece and the conductor is ensured due to the radial pressure conditions.

The agent swelling under the action of moisture is a known cellulose-based substance, such as methyl cellulose or ethyl cellulose.

An embodiment of the new cable is shown in the figure.

The figure shows a plastic-insulated medium-voltage cable, on the multi-wire conductor 1, the moisture barrier 2 is applied. This is an electrically conductive plastic fleece, which is enriched with a swelling agent and which is spun onto the conductor in tape form. Above the moisture keitss erre p 2 is the extruded Polyäthyienisolierung 3 including an inner unspecified and a likewise unspecified outer conducting layer, as is usual in medium voltage cables. A further moisture barrier 4 is arranged above it, which likewise consists of an electrically conductive plastic fleece which is enriched with a swelling agent, in particular a swelling powder. The screen 5 is spun from copper wires onto the moisture barrier 4. The outer jacket 6 made of polyvinyl chloride is located above this.
