Definitions
- Such piste boxes would make every winter sports resort even more attractive because of their enormous energy savings. Such piste boxes would make traffic on the streets of the villages safer and the transport on the cable car facilities would be even smoother and accident-free. In addition, such piste boxes, once their purchase price and set-up costs have paid for themselves, would become a constant source of income for the winter sports resort concerned.

Abstract
Description
In the winter season 1978/79 there were about 5 - 8 million German skis. Around 6.4 million pairs of alpine and 5 million pairs of cross-country skis were produced in the world this year alone. Skiing has become the most popular mass sport. In Austria alone there are 612 winter sports resorts with 3,266 lifts and cable cars. 6,500 ski instructors teach carefree skiing fun.
A pair of the chunky, rigid, buckle-reinforced alpine shoes weighs about 12 (!) Pounds. In addition there are the average 2 meter long downhill skis and the 2 accompanying ski poles, possibly a small backpack. '
Equipped in this way, you can see the skiers of both sexes taking difficult steps out of their quarters, which are often far enough away, to strive concentrically towards the cable car facilities that are supposed to bring them closer to skiing. The buckles on the heavy boots open - otherwise it would not be possible to walk - they move in elephant steps with shouldered boards through the snowy and icy streets and alleys of the winter sports resorts. On the chairlifts of various constructions they hold their downhill boards and ski poles clasped so as not to irretrievably lose part of their valuable equipment on the way can. Then in the evening, tired and pumped out by the winter air, they sway again with difficulty due stamping, slipping and stumbling towards their quarters, to sigh soothingly when they can finally get rid of the heavy load of ski equipment.
How much physical strength that could be better used for the actual skiing is lost on these torturous marches from and to the neighborhood!
Every alpine skier would be happy if he could store his heavy ski equipment in the specially constructed piste boxes on the spot in the late evening. If he could use the cable car facilities in light, fashionable press ski boots and hurry to his quarters. The next morning, carefree, safe ascent with the chair lift, ski equipment removed from the piste box and without any exertion on the downhill slopes !!
Such piste boxes would make every winter sports resort even more attractive because of their enormous energy savings. Such piste boxes would make traffic on the streets of the villages safer and the transport on the cable car facilities would be even smoother and accident-free. In addition, such piste boxes, once their purchase price and set-up costs have paid for themselves, would become a constant source of income for the winter sports resort concerned.
With the installation of such piste boxes, alpine skiing could be revolutionized again worldwide.
The cheapest locations for the piste boxes would be the valley, but especially the head stations of the cable car facilities. The back fronts of large sports hotels also offer themselves. If piste boxes have to be set up outdoors for space reasons, it is advisable to store them in shelters in a rustic style that is adapted to the landscape. space It would be favorable to set up double racks and horseshoe shapes of 150 to 200 boxes each. Care must be taken to ensure that small amounts of melt water can drain away.
