Definitions
- the present invention relates to an anti-theft hanger.
- Wood, metal or plastic hangers are commonly used, which have an upper rod inclined downward on each side of the hanger and to the upper and central part of which is fixed a hanging hook. These hangers also optionally include a horizontal lower strip extending between the two lower ends of the upper strip. This upper rod is used to hang jackets, coats, dresses, etc., while the horizontal lower rod is used for other items such as pants.
- hangers are normally suspended, by their hooks, on horizontal bars and therefore they can be stolen very easily with the clothes they support.
- the present invention essentially aims to remedy this drawback by providing a hanger of particularly simple design and provided with an anti-theft device.
- this anti-theft hanger comprising at least one upper rod intended to support a garment, rod whose two lateral branches are inclined downward and which carries, in its central part the, a suspension hook extending vertically and the curved upper part of which is intended to be hung on a suspension bar, is characterized in that it comprises at least one arm forming a clamp jaw, mounted movable in the plane of the hanger and the movable end of which can be applied against a part of the upper edge of the rod forming the garment support, so as to pinch, in the closed position, a garment suspended from the hanger between the arm and the rod, and means for locking the movable arm in the closed position.
- the locking means are advantageously constituted by a single mechanism housed in the central part of the hanger and which can be operated by means of a key used only by a store seller.
- the hanger comprises a movable member ensuring the complete closure of the hook around the suspension bar, this movable member being able to be actuated by the locking mechanism so as to be able to release the hanger from its bar. suspension by means of the key controlling the locking mechanism.
- the hanger according to the invention has the advantage of being permanently attached to its suspension bar and of being able to be separated from the latter only after manual intervention by a seller. In the same way, the various garments hanging on the hanger can only be detached from it after manual intervention by a seller. This avoids any risk of theft.
- the anti-theft hanger shown in FIG. 1 comprises an upper arched rod 1 between the lower ends of which extends a horizontal rectilinear rod 2. On the upper arched rod 1 are hung garments such as jackets, coats, etc. while the lower horizontal strip 2 is used to support pants or the like.
- the arched upper rod 1 is integral in a known manner, in its central part 1a which constitutes its top, with a hook 3 which is intended to bear on a suspension bar 4.
- the anti-theft hanger shown in FIG. 1 comprises two arms 5, 6 forming clamp jaws, which extend laterally above the upper arched rod 1. These two arms 5, 6 are mounted vertically movable in the plane of the hanger and they can thus slide between a closed position shown in solid lines in Figure 1 and an open position indicated partially in phantom. These two arms 5 and 6 are joined by a horizontal cross-member 7 from which comes, upwards, a part forming claw 1a and which is one of the constituent elements of the hook 3. This claw 1 is bent at its upper part and in the position of closure its curved end part is aligned with a fixed vertical tab 8 coming from the upper edge of the central part 1a. In the closed position, the part 3a forming a claw and the vertical tab 8 completely surround the suspension bar 4 and thus prevent the hanger from being detached from this bar.
- the arms 5, 6 forming clamp jaws are bent or inclined in the direction of the two branches of the upper rod 1 and they terminate in preferably, at their lower ends, by support pads 9, 10, which may for example be made of plastic foam. In the closed position, these pads are applied under pressure against the upper edges of the two branches of the arched rod 1, thus preventing clothing such as jacket, coat, from being removed from the hanger.
- the hanger shown in Figure 1 also includes means for securing pants on the horizontal lower rod 2.
- These means comprise a vertical bar 11 which is integral with the horizontal cross member 7 and which extends downwards from the latter.
- This vertical bar 11 passes through a vertical housing formed in the central and upper part 1a of the arched rod 1 and ends, at its lower end, by a shoe 12 coming to bear against the horizontal rectilinear rod 2. It can be seen that in position closing pants placed on this rod 2 is immobilized by being pinched between the shoe 12 and the rod 2.
- the anti-theft hanger shown in FIG. 1 thus comprises a vertically movable assembly, this monobloc assembly comprising the two lateral arms 5, 6 forming gripper jaws, the vertical bar 11 forming trouser clips and the claw portion 3a of the hook 3.
- This the assembly is held in the closed position by an appropriate locking mechanism 13 housed in the central part la of the arched rod 1.
- This locking mechanism 13 may for example comprise a pawl 14 articulated around an axis 15 and biased by a spring 16 in the direction of a rack 17 formed in one edge of the vertical bar 11.
- the locking mechanism 13 can be actuated by means of a lock operated by a key inserted into a hole 17. This key makes it possible to turn the pawl '14 clockwise on FIG. 1, so as to disengage it from the rack 17 and thus to be able to lift the claw 3a, which causes the hook 3 to open, and also lift the lateral arms 5, 6 and the bar 11, which releases the clothes worn by the hanger.
- the teeth of the rack 17 are advantageously shaped in such a way that it suffices to push down the vertically movable assembly to ensure automatic locking in the closed position.
- the hanger has two lateral arms 5, 6, it goes without saying that it might as well have only one. Furthermore, the mobile part 3a forming part of the hook 3 could be actuated independently instead of being integral with the mobile arms 5, 6.
- the anti-theft hanger comprises two lateral arms 21, 22 which are articulated on the upper and central part 1a of the arched strip 1, around axes perpendicular to the hanger.
- the two arms 21, 22 can pivot while remaining in the plane of the hanger. They can occupy an open position in which they are relatively spaced from the upper arched rod 1, as shown in Figure 2, and a position of closure in which pads 23, 24 which they carry at their movable ends, are pressed against the upper edge of the arched rod 1.
- the hanger 1 is provided with a locking mechanism 13 which can be operated by means of 'a key and which allows to rotate the arms 21, 22 to their open position when you want to remove a garment from the hanger.
- the mechanism 13 controls, as in the previous case, a movable member which ensures total closure or opening of the suspension hook 3.
