Abstract

A rod antenna support has a foot portion adapted to be affixed to a base and a pivotal joint mounted in the foot portion. The pivotal joint has a socket provided with a slot and a cylindrical body received in the socket for rotary motion in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the foot portion. A terminal screw forming an end portion of a rod antenna projects through the slot of the socket and threadedly engages into a diametral bore of the cylindrical body. The cylindrical body has a throughgoing cylindrical passage which extends transversely to the longitudinal axis of the foot portion. The cylindrical body is rotatably received in the throughgoing passage. A flange-like stop is affixed to the terminal screw outside the socket for being clamped against an external face of the socket when the terminal screw is threaded into the bore.

Description

Stand der TechnikState of the art

The invention is based on a rod or telescopic antenna according to the preamble of the main claim.

A pivotable rod antenna for vehicles is already known (DE-GM 1 606 115), in which the antenna rod is carried by a base fastened to the vehicle via a lockable, two-part joint. The joint parts have toothings on their mutually facing sides, which interlock when a screw connecting both joint parts is tightened. The known antenna has the disadvantage that a special tool is required for swiveling the antenna and subsequently setting the antenna angular position. Another significant disadvantage is that the antenna rod can be removed by loosening the articulation, for example, before the vehicle enters a car wash, but that the articulation part remaining on the vehicle creates a risk of an accident.

A pivotable rod or telescopic antenna is also known (DE-OS 27 08 594), in which the foot piece fastened to a vehicle body carries a swivel joint with a dome-shaped joint shell in which an approximately circular disc is rotatably mounted. The disc contains a continuous threaded hole perpendicular to the disc axis into which a threaded bolt that is firmly connected to the antenna rod can be screwed. When the antenna rod is screwed in, the threaded bolt protrudes from the lower end of the bore, as a result of which the disk with the screwed antenna rod is clamped in the joint shell at a preselected angle of inclination.

A pivot joint with these-features has the disadvantage that SS is damaged by repeated loosening and subsequent firm screwing of the antenna rod or -teleskops the free end of the threaded bolt and that the inside of the dome-shaped joint shell is deformed by the free end of the threaded projection over time , so that a secure locking of the antenna rod or telescope is no longer possible.

Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention

The rod or telescopic antenna according to the invention with the characterizing features of the main claim has the advantage that the threaded bolt screwed into the swivel joint cannot be damaged at its free end, that the inside of the joint shell cannot be deformed by the free end of the threaded bolt and that the dome-shaped joint shell is relatively easy to manufacture.

Advantageous further developments and improvements of the antenna specified in the main claim are possible through the measures listed in the subclaims. It is particularly advantageous if the end face of one end of the cylindrical swivel part is adapted to the outer contour of the swivel joint and if the other end of the swivel part and the part of the bore adjacent to this end are offset such that the swivel part is held axially immovably in the opening of the swivel joint becomes. In this way, an operationally reliable swivel joint is obtained in which, even when the antenna is unscrewed from the swivel joint, only a smooth, strongly rounded profile of slight increase protrudes from the vehicle body.

Beschreibung der ErfindungDescription of the invention

In Fig. 1, 10 denotes a section of a vehicle body on which a foot piece 11 is attached. The foot piece 11 carries a swivel joint 12, which consists of a dome-shaped joint shell 13 and a cylindrical swivel part 14 pivotably mounted therein.

The swivel part 14 contains a diametrically extending threaded bore 15 into which a threaded shoulder 16 is screwed. The threaded attachment -16 is an integral part of the antenna rod or antenna telescope 17. The dome-shaped joint shell 13 contains a radial slot "18, which allows the antenna telescope 17 screwed into the cylindrical swivel part 14 with its threaded attachment 16 by an angle a of at least '90 ° allowed.

Above the threaded shoulder 16, the antenna telescope carries a flange-like extension 19 which, when the antenna telescope is screwed firmly into the swivel part 14, is pressed against the outer surface of the joint shell 13 adjacent to the radial slot 18. Characterized the pivot member 14 is pressed against the inner wall of the joint shell 13 at the same time, so that the antenna rod is locked in the desired angular position.

So that the swivel part 14 cannot fall out of the joint shell 13 when the antenna telescope 17 is unscrewed, one end 20 of the swivel part is stepped in diameter. The opening 21 receiving the cylindrical swivel part in the region of the end 20 of the swivel part has a constriction 22 on which a shoulder 23 of the swivel part 14 is supported. A cylinder head screw 24 is screwed in from the outside of the cylindrical opening 21 in the axial direction of the swivel part 14; which ensures that the swivel part 14 can be swiveled about its longitudinal axis, but that axial movement of the swivel part is prevented.

The other end 25 of the swivel part is shaped spherically in such a way that it adapts to the outer contour of the joint shell 13.

The cylinder head screw 24 preferably has a lenticular surface which adapts to the outer contour of the joint shell 13.

The flange-like extension 19 is also adapted to the outer contour of the joint shell on its surface facing the joint shell, so that the largest possible surface area is achieved and the surface of the joint shell is not damaged by firmly screwing in the antenna rod or telescope.
