Neuerungsgemäß besteht das in Fig. 1 dargestellte Gehäuse aus zwei Gehäuseteilen 50, von denen jedes eine Bodenfläche 24 oder Deckfläche 26, eine Seitenwand 28, eine Querwand 30, ein Bandrückhalte- und -führungselement 32 sowie eine Rippe 34 umfaßt. Die beiden Gehäuseteile 50 werden miteinander durch Steckverbindungselemente verbunden. Hierzu weist jedes Gehäuseteil 50 eine an der Seitenwand 28 nahe dem eintrittsseitigen Ende derselben und eine im Winkel zwischen der Seitenwand 28 und der Querwand 30 angeordnete Einsteckfassung zur Aufnahme eines an einer entsprechenden Stelle des anderen Gehäuseteiles 50 angeordneten Zapfens 54 auf. Dreht man das in Fig. 2 dargestelle Gehäuseteil 50 um eine in der Zeichenebene liegende vertikale Achse, so daß die Bodenplatte oder Deckplatte oben liegt und setzt das so angeordnete Gehäuseteil 50 auf ein weiteres Gehäuseteil 50 in der in Fig. 2 dargestellten Lage, so erkennt man, daß sich daraus das in Fig. 1 dargestellte Gehäuse herstellen läßt. Der außerordentliche Vorteil dieser Ausbildung der Gehäuseteile 50 liegt darin, daß man zu ihrer Herstellung nur ein Werkzeug benötigt, was den Herstellungspreis der Farbbandkassette erheblich verringert. So können die Gehäuseteile als einfache Spritzgußteile aus einem vorzugsweise transparenten Kunststoff hergestellt werden. Nach dem Einlegen des Farbbandes 14 werden die beiden Gehäuseteile mit Hilfe der Steckverbindungselemente 52, 54 zusammengesteckt und gegeneinandergepreßt. Bei einer etwas konischen Ausbildung der Zapfen 54 und einer komplementären konischen Form der Aussparungen in den Einsteckfassungen 52 läßt sich durch einen entsprechenden Druck auf die beiden Gehäuseteile eine feste Verbindung zwischen diesen beiden erreichen.According to the invention, the housing shown in FIG. 1 consists of two housing parts 50, each of which comprises a bottom surface 24 or top surface 26, a side wall 28, a transverse wall 30, a band retaining and guiding element 32 and a rib 34. The extraordinary advantage of this design of the housing parts 50 is that only one tool is required for their production, which considerably reduces the production price of the ribbon cassette. The housing parts can thus be produced as simple injection molded parts from a preferably transparent plastic. After inserting the ribbon 14, the two housing parts are plugged together with the aid of the connector elements 52, 54 and pressed against each other. With a somewhat conical design of the pins 54 and a complementary conical shape of the recesses in the plug-in sockets 52, a firm connection between the two can be achieved by appropriate pressure on the two housing parts.

Claims (8)

1. Replaceable colour-ribbon cassette for printing units, comprising a housing (10) with a substantially rectangular storage space (12) enclosed by a bottom surface (24), by a top surface (26) parallel to this latter and by side walls (28, 30) extending between an inlet end and an outlet end of the housing (10), this storage space serving to accommodate an endless colour-ribbon (14) passing through at the inlet side between a pair of feed rollers (38, 40) and in a plurality of freely formable loops (16), wherein the distance between top surface and bottom surface (26 and 24 respectively) is slightly greater than the width of the colour-ribbon (14) and wherein at mutually opposite places on the top surface (26) and bottom surface (24) near the outlet end there are arranged ridges (34) directed transversely to the general direction in which the colour-ribbon (14) passes through the storage space (12), the distance apart of which ridges is less than the width of the colour-ribbon (14), characterised in that the ridges (34), which are directed substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal side walls (28) and substantially parallel to the transverse side walls (30) forming therebetween an outlet gap (18), start from a respective one of the two opposite longitudinal side walls (28) and terminate at a distance from the respective other longitudinal side wall (28), so that any jamming of the ribbon-loop ends situated in these clearance zones is obviated, and in that at the inlet- side end of each longitudinal side wall (28) there is provided a ribbon-retaining and guiding element (32), each of which extends respectively at a distance from the bottom surface (24) and top surface (26) substantially perpendicular to the respective longitudinal side wall (28) over less than half the width of the open inlet end of the housing (10) and both of which engage, in the operating position of the cassette, peripherally on the two feed rollers (38 and 40) arranged separated from the colour-ribbon cassette.
2. Colour-ribbon cassette according to Claim 1, characterised in that each ribbon retaining and guiding element (32) has a ribbon-directing surface (46) near its free end on the side facing the storage space (12).
3. Colour-ribbon cassette according to Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the top surface (26) and the bottom surface (24) project outwards over the longitudinal side walls (28).

Colour-ribbon cassette according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the housing (10) is of substantially symmetrical design both in relation to a vertical longitudinal centre plane extending perpendicular to the top surface (26) and bottom surface (24) midway between the longitudinal side walls (28) and in relation to a horizontal centre plane extending parallel to the top surface (26) and bottom surface (24) midway between these latter.

Colour-ribbon cassette according to Claim 4, characterised in that the housing (10) consists of two identical housing parts (50) which respectively comprise one of the two basic surfaces (bottom surface 24, top surface 26), a longitudinal side wall (28) and the transverse side wall (30) continuous with this latter on the outlet side of the storage space (12), as well as the ribbon-retaining and guiding element (32) continuous with the longitudinal side wall (28).
6. Colour-ribbon cassette according to Claim 5, characterised in that both housing parts (50) can be undetachable connected to one another by plug-connection elements (52, 54).
7. Colour-ribbon cassette according to Claim 6, characterised in that each pair of mutually cooperating plug-connection elements has a plug (54) arranged on one of the housing parts (50) and an insertion socket (52) arranged on the respective other housing part (50) and for receiving the plug (54).

Colour-ribbon cassette according to one of Claims 1 to 7, characterised in that when the colour-ribbon cassette is not in use the housing (10) can be closed by an elastically flexible guard strip (48), the length of which amounts to more than twice the length of the storage space (12) and which is so inserted through the inlet end of the storage space (12) into the latter than with one of its ends, starting from the outlet-side end of one side wall (28), it extends along the inside, is applied with a curve against the free end of the ribbon-retaining and guiding elements (32) and curved in S-shape returns with its other end to its first-mentioned end.
