Description

The invention relates to the drill head of a rotary impact drill, which has the features mentioned in the preamble of claim 1. A rotary hammer drill of this type is known from US-A-3,434,553.

Rotary impact drills are also to be understood here as the drills sometimes referred to as hammer drills, the center drills of drill bits and the like.

With a drill head of this type, the clear diameter of the branch bore must not be less than a certain dimension so that the largest pieces of drilling dust can be sucked off through the branch duct. However, this has the consequence that rotary impact drills with a suction channel cannot be made as thin as desired, since in thin drills the drill head near the cutting body is weakened by the branch bore so that it can no longer absorb the forces that occur during drilling.

From DE-C-1 944 551 a similar to the aforementioned drill head is known, but in which the channel with its branch hole is not used to extract the drilling dust, but serves as a flushing channel, through the water or compressed air to the drilling site and thereby the cuttings on Circumference of the drill head is discharged. This known drill head differs from the known drill head mentioned at the outset in that the branch bore is not made up to the end face of the drill head, but rather opens into a radial channel. However, this radial channel makes it impossible to use the branch bore of this known drill head to extract the drilling dust, since elongated pieces of the cuttings can settle in this radial channel and cannot be sucked into the branch bore and would thereby clog the mouth of the branch bore.

In kurzer Zeit würde sich daher am Bohrungsgrund so viel Bohrmehl ansammeln, daß ein weiteres Bohren unmöglich wäre.FR-A-1 022 567 also discloses a drilling head for producing bores in rock, which has a channel with branch bores. In this known drill head, too, the duct with a branch bore is not used to suck off the drilling dust, but rather to supply a flushing medium. In this known drill head, the channel with branch hole is also not suitable for extracting the drilling dust from the drilling site. This known drill head has a wedge-shaped end face formed from flat surfaces. The flat surfaces of this end face are aligned with corresponding flat, cutting edge end faces of the cutting knife, so that the entire end face of the drill head rests on the bottom of the bore with each impact and thus prevents suction of the cuttings located there. If one were to use this known drill head as a rotary impact drill and the channel as a suction channel, then the cuttings could only be sucked off the bottom of the hole in the brief moments in which the drill head lifts off the bottom of the hole. However, this means that the pieces of cuttings further away from the mouth of the branch bore do not reach the bore opening in the short time and would thus catch the movement of the drill head on the next stroke. In a short time, so much drilling dust would accumulate at the bottom of the hole that further drilling would be impossible.

Another drill head of this type is known from DE-U-68 04 690, which is equipped with hard metal pins, the end faces of which, together with the end face of the drill head, form a smooth surface, so that the same applies here as for the subject of FR A-10 22 567.

The invention is based on the object of designing the aforementioned drill head of a rotary impact drill with a suction channel in such a way that it is weakened as little as possible through the branch bore.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the drill head according to claim 1. Characterized in that the mouth opening limited by the branch bore made up to the end face of the drill head itself also extends partially over the adjoining circumferential surface of the drill head, the end faces of the drill head and its adjoining parts are thereby weakened considerably less than if the mouth opening were completely in the end face . This is achieved by the invention without reducing the actual clear opening of the branch hole. This makes it possible to design drills of the type mentioned at the outset for much smaller bore diameters than was previously possible. You can choose the maximum possible size for the outer diameter of the drill shank, namely the size of the diameter of the drill head, so that, with an appropriate size of the clear opening of the suction channel, drills with suction holes for bores down to about 6 mm can be produced.

Further advantageous features of the invention are specified in the claims and in the following description of an exemplary embodiment.

Es zeigt

  • Fig. 1 einen unterbrochen dargestellten Diametralschnitt des Ausführungsbeispieles des Drehschlagbohrers nach der Linie I-I in Fig. 2;
  • Fig. 2 eine Ansicht der Stirnfläche des Bohrers nach Fig. 1.
It shows
  • Figure 1 is a broken diametrical section of the embodiment of the rotary impact drill along the line II in Fig. 2.
  • 2 is a view of the end face of the drill of FIG. 1st

In the rotary impact drill shown in the drawing, the drill head 1 forms the end of a drill shank 2 which has a smooth cylindrical shape over the working length of the drill Has peripheral surface 3. The drill is shown in FIG. 1 within a bore 4 drilled by it in a rock, for example in a masonry.

At its rear end, the drill has a thread 5 which can be screwed into the chuck of a drilling machine. At the end facing away from the thread 5, the drill has a conical end face 6, which is interrupted by a slot 7, in which a cutting body 8 is fastened, which has a cutting edge 9 on its wedge-shaped end face, which has a transverse cutting edge 11 in its center forms.

The drill is provided with a suction channel 12, 13, which has an axial bore 12 designed as a cylindrical blind bore, which at its inner end merges into a cylindrical branch bore 13, which connects the axial bore 12 with a mouth opening 14 in the end face 6. The mouth opening 14 is arranged on the edge of the end face 6 so that it extends with its larger part over the subsequent cylindrical peripheral surface 3 of the drill head 1, so that this part of the mouth opening 14 initially widens with increasing distance from the end face 6 until the cylindrical peripheral surface 3 intersects the branch hole 13 in two diametrically opposite points. The inner end 15 of the axial bore 12 is located at an axial distance from the slot 7 for the cutting body 8. At this inner end 15, the branch bore 13 connects so that the cross section of the inner end 15 is at least about half of that section of the Branch hole 13, which lies in the plane of the cross section of the inner end, so that the branch hole 13 can expand freely at the inner end of the axial bore in this immediately.

With respect to the slot 7, the mouth 14 is arranged so that it is adjacent to the leading side 18 of the cutting body 8 during drilling in the direction of the arrow 17, as can be seen from FIG. 2.

In order to reliably prevent the suction channel formed by the branch bore 13 and the axial bore 12 from becoming blocked, the distance 19 of the cutting edge 9 from the end face 6 is smaller than the greatest radial distance 22 of the edge of the mouth opening 14 which results in the clear width of the mouth opening 14 from the flight circle 23 of the radially outermost edge of the cutting body 8.

In order to be able to use the drill as a centering drill for a drilling bell, the protrusion 21 of the cutting body 8 over the peripheral surface 3 of the drill is also smaller than the distance 22.

Characterized in that the branch bore 13 is open radially outwards in the region of the mouth opening 14, there is a relatively enlarged actual mouth opening of the suction channel 12, 13 without the drill head 1 in the vicinity of the cutting body 8 being weakened by the entire clear opening of the actual mouth opening .

The fact that the mouth opening 14 of the leading side 18 of the cutting body 8 during drilling is arranged adjacent to it weakens only the part of the drill head 1 which is least loaded during drilling.
