Claims (8)

1. An opening bath (1), for use in particular by elderly or handicapped people, comprising a fixed part (2) and a movable part (3) capable of swivelling with respect to the fixed part round a substantially vertical hinge pin (4) located on one longitudinal side of the bath, the said bath comprising a closure safety device preventing the bath from opening as long as it contains water, characterized in that the bath (1) is divided into two sections (2, 3) along a plane transverse to the length of the bath and passing through the deepest part of the bath, the two sections (2, 3) providing in the closed position, at the transverse dividing plane, a continuous internal surface to the bath, and in that this latter also comprises a filling safety device preventing the bath from filling as long as it has not been completely closed.
2. The bath according to claim 1, characterized in that the filling safety device comprises a feeler (19) actuated when the bath has completely closed to release the water feed to a bath filling valve (9).
