The matrix is a layer of low moisture jam or coating, preferably a chocolate or caramel layer or coating containing calcium or other micronutrient solubilized therein. The resulting food product advantageously contains a substantial amount of micronutrients without adversely affecting its organoleptic qualities such as texture.
