Клапан может использоваться в качестве регулятора разности давлений потока газа либо жидкости; в качестве запорного, обратного клапана. Клапан может использоваться также в качестве аварийного клапана, при превышении заданного давления направляющего поток через сбросной патрубок в дренажный трубопровод.
