Abstract

Unlike other types of silicon carbide-based materials that use additives (binders) to help glue silicon carbide particles together, recrystallized silicon carbide ceramics are made from pure silicon carbide powder that has a bimodal particle size distribution, such as extremely small and large grains. A pure crystallized silicon carbide filter plate is an extremely corrosion-resistant material that provides a much longer service life of the filter plate also when used during filtration when fluoride is present.
