Abstract

Cotton wool is packaged in such a way that a solution containing nucleic acids passes through it, and nucleic acids from said solution bind to said cotton wool in an optimal binding medium. Nucleic acids bind to cotton so that bound nucleic acids can withstand multiple washes with a liquid containing water and washed in an aqueous buffer with which leaching nucleic acids can be directly used for amplification by PCR or for any other biochemical or molecular biological purposes .
