Abstract

The invention is related to the field of metal-working and can be used in various sectors of industry involving grinding of mineral raw materials, for example, in ore mining industry, powder metallurgy, production of building materials, etc. The objective of the invention is reduction of labour intensity in production of grinding bodies and their improved hardness. Said objective is attained by that in a method of making cast-iron grinding bodies including iron smelting, casting of bars of the required diameter by the method of horizontal continuous casting, induction heating of the bars to the deformation temperature and hot plastic deformation, induction heating and plastic deformation are performed locally, in areas of bars division into cylinders of base diameter D and height H, heating is performed to a temperature of 900-1000°C, and hot plastic deformation is carried out to a depth of 0.05 to 0.25D and a width of 0.05 to 0.25H. The essence of the technical solution according to the invention is retention of white iron structure and an increase in contact surface area of grinding bodies.
