Apparatet består af en lukket beholder af hvilken som helst form og materiale. Beholderen er enten i bunden eller i siden forsynet med et rør på hvis side eller bund, der findes en af løbsåbning. Jordens kapillaritet bevirker, at væsken langsomt suges ud af beholderen, mens luft tilsvarende langsomt stiger op gennem væsken og erstatter den udsugede væskemængde med en tilsvarende luftmængde.The apparatus consists of a closed container of any shape and material. The container is provided either at the bottom or the side with a tube whose side or bottom is provided with a barrel opening. Beholderen er i blød plastik (plastikpose) og har en aflang form. For enden af denne plastikpose findes et rør med åbning for enden, som tillader vand fra plastikposen at suges ind i jorden. The container is provided at the end or on the side with a pipe which is inserted into the ground. The pipe is provided with a drain opening either at the side or at the end.
