Abstract

A clamping ring 1 for securing covering material, especially floor covering material 4, against the inner side 5 of a well, especially a floor well 6, is split and compressible in the radial direction counter to the action of a spring force, which is intended, when the ring is mounted in the well 6, to expand the clamping ring 1 in the radial direction until it bears against the covering material 4 and pins this against the inner side 5 of the well 6. In order that the clamping ring effectively and throughout its life secures the covering material, without the said spring force making the ring difficult to handle during assembly and thereby causing havoc, the clamping ring 1 is produced such that it expands by virtue of at least one spring member, preferably a helical spring 7, which is fitted between two end parts 8, 9 of the ring 1, which spring member 7 is compressible by the end parts 8, 9 being forced peripherally together. <IMAGE>
