Abstract
The catalyst body consists of a packing of spheres or spherical bodies of ceramic material, for example basalt, which are mutually joined at their contact points. The spheres or spherical bodies are produced by quenching a melt of the mineral material in a liquid coolant, and then mutually joined at their contact points by heating to the softening range of the material.
