Abstract

To enable heavy cattle manure to be discharged from the cattle shed to a manure tank by run-off through pipes of reasonably small dimensions, the manure is made to run horizontally into an obliquely downward-leading pipe piece 14, which, at the bottom, continues into an only gently downward-sloping conveyor pipe 16 out to the tank. At the inlet and outlet of the oblique pipe piece, the heavy manure lumps are diverted by about 45 degrees without any restriction to their movement, whereupon the lumps are fragmented and absorb into their surface an increased quantity of lubricating thin manure, conveyance being able to be effected by gravitational force, including by the suction created by the outflowing manure, by virtue of its inertia, in the inlet region. The oblique pipe piece 14 can be combined with a manure valve 22. At the lower end of the oblique pipe piece 14, an injection socket 28 for liquid manure or water is fitted, whereby further lubricants can be added to the longer conveyor pipe 16 out to the tank. <IMAGE>
