Abstract

The tape transport mechanism for a video recorder has a tape guide which is a part of a tape lead-in mechanism and during operation automatically sets the correct position of the magnetic tape 20. The deflection elements 8 belonging to the tape lead-in mechanism are designed as tilting or pivoting pins without side flanges, which guide the magnetic tape. These pins have a cylindrical or conical case which, in its centre measured in the axial direction, is point-suspended and is mounted movably in a plane in relation to the stationary inner part. The distance between the centre of the magnetic tape and the tilting point of the case, in association with the tape tension, defines the force components at right angles to the tape travel direction. In the main drum region, the magnetic tape is guided by guide pins 9, 10 which are arranged in a stationary manner in front of the point of entry and after the point of exit for the main drum at right angles to the tape travel direction. Close to their upper end, the guide pins have a flange, against which the upper edge of the magnetic tape bears for guidance in height. The pivoting pins ensure this automatically. The lower edge of the magnetic tape bears against a stationary guide 11 at half the wrap angle. The magnetic tape is not mechanically connected between the pivoting pins, and no expensive adjustable stop is required. <IMAGE>
