DESCRIPTION

Subject matter of the invention

The present invention discloses a hair-styling device making it possible to form twisted braids comprising decorative elements. It more particularly discloses a device making it possible to twist locks of hair individually, before winding them to form a twisted braid with integrated decorative elements .

State of the art

The most common techniques for braiding locks of hair traditionally include manually taking three locks of hair and braiding them to form a braid.

Many devices have been conceived to mechanize this operation, including documents US 4,038,996, US 5,497,795, or CN 203416914 U.

Another technique includes taking two, sometimes three, locks of hair and twisting them individually before bringing them together by winding them with one another to form a braid of the "rope" type. The term "braid" here has also entered everyday language, but out of a concern for clarity, this type of braid will be referred to

Examples of devices making it possible to form a twisted braid include US 4,580,585 and US 4,583,561.

The latest evolution in this area is described in document US 6,318,378 BI or its equivalent, EP 1 164 887 Al. This document describes a hair-styling device making it possible to twist locks individually. It comprises a main body and at least two hair grasping devices to grasp locks and able to rotate synchronously. Each of the hair grasping devices is connected to hair twisters that rotate locks in order to form twists.

The device also comprises a rotator that is connected to the main body and rotates relative to the latter. The rotation of the rotator brings the locks together and forms a twisted braid. The device can be operated in a motorized manner, but the rotation can also be done manually.

Aims of the invention

The present invention aims to provide a device able to form locks that are twisted individually, before being wound by a global rotational movement around one another. The device more particularly targets the possibility of integrating decorative elements around each of the individual twists in various locations by bringing the two twists together into a twisted braid.

Summary of the invention

The present invention discloses a hair-styling device for twisting locks of hair and making a twisted braid comprising decorative elements, according to claim 1.

The preferred embodiments of the invention comprise at least one, or any appropriate combination, of the following features : the grasping means is a hook or loop able to be positioned using a spring between a position for releasing and a position for gripping the lock; the hair twisters rotate synchronously; the hair twisters and the driveshaft are connected by gears; the hair-styling device further comprises a clutch positioned within the rotator and arranged such that it makes it possible to prevent rotation of the rotator when the hair twisters rotate to twist the locks of hair and such that it makes it possible to block the hair twisters when the rotator rotates to assemble the locks previously twisted by the hair twisters .

The present invention also discloses a kit comprising the hair-styling device according to the invention accompanied by these decorative elements.

Figure 5 shows the detail of one of the locations situated around the twisters that have a geometry making it possible to fasten said decorative elements and making it possible to store these elements over a certain thickness. The geometry of the hair twisters cooperates with the inner contour of the decorative rings, allowing removable fastening and storage of a few rings .

Detailed description of the invention

The hair-styling device of the present invention makes it possible to twist braids of hair individually before twisting them into a twisted braid on which the user fastens various decorative elements, such as rings with different shapes, textures and colors, in various positions at different winding levels of the twists.

To form these twisted braids provided with integrated decorative elements, the device is provided with a handle 2 topped by a rotator 3 to perform a rotational movement relative to said handle 2. On this rotator 3 are two hair twisters 4 to perform a rotational movement making it possible to twist the locks of hair individually.

The hair twisters 4 are provided with means for grasping locks 5 to fasten one or several locks of hair. These grasping means generally comprise a hook or loop able to be positioned using a spring 10 between a position for releasing and a position for gripping the lock. This fastening mechanism is mounted on a base 11 so as to be retractable inside the hair twisters 4.

To ensure both rotational movements, the device is equipped with an electric motor 6, the rotation direction of which is reversible. The motor 6 drives a driveshaft 7 coupled to each of the hair twisters 4, which makes it possible to rotate them in a first direction in order to twist said locks of hair individually and to thus form two separate twists of locks of hair that are twisted in the same direction.

After having twisted these locks individually, the user stops the rotation of the hair twisters 4 using the switch 12 positioned in a neutral position, before using the same switch 12 to initiate a rotational movement of the rotator 3 by driving the driveshaft 7 in a second direction opposite the first, thus combining the two twists of locks into a single twisted braid.

The hair twisters 4 comprise grasping means 5. The geometry of the hair twisters is chosen so as to be able to cooperate with the decorative elements 9 in order to fasten them to the base of said hair twisters 4 while making them easily detachable. The base of the hair twisters 4 is generally angular, for example square or rectangular, and can accommodate several decorative elements, the inner contour of which is adapted to its geometric shape, which makes it possible to stack several of these decorative elements on the base of each of the hair twisters 4.

The decorative elements stacked around the base of the hair twisters 4 can be threaded around individually twisted locks at different formation heights of the twisted braid during the assembly of the two twisted locks to form a twisted braid with integrated decorative elements 9.

The hair-styling device of the present invention accompanied by its decorative elements 9, the geometry of which is adapted to the hair twisters 4, form a kit.

Claims

Hair styling device (1) for twisting hair tufts and performing a twisted braid comprising decorative elements (9), which device comprises: - a handle (2) - a rotating device (3) mounted on the handle (2) , to perform a rotational movement relative to the handle (2), at least two twisting units (4) provided on the rotating device (3), to perform a rotational movement which makes it possible to twist the hair tufts individually, which twisting units (4) are equipped with gripping means (5) for gripping one or more tufts of hair during use - an electric motor (6) whose direction of rotation is reversible, which drives a drive shaft (7) coupled to each of the twisting units (4), and which makes it possible to cause them to rotate in a first direction to twist the tufts individually and thereby form two separate tufts of hair twisted in the same direction, and then drive the drive shaft (7) in a second direction to get the rotation device (3 ) to rotate in a second direction opposite to the first, whereby the two twisted tufts are combined in a single twisted braid, the rotating device (3) comprising slits (8) located around the twisting units (4), which make it possible to store decorative elements (9) in a removable manner so that they can be pulled around at least one of the twisted tufts individually at different levels for the formation of the twisted braid, the gripping means (5) being retractable into the twisting units.

Device according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the gripping means (5) is a hook or a loop which can be positioned by means of a spring (10) between a position where the tot is released and a position where the tot gribes.

Device according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the twisting units (4) rotate synchronously.

Device according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the twisting units (4) and the drive shaft (7) are connected by gears.

Device according to any one of the preceding claims, further comprising a coupling located inside the rotating device (3) and designed so as to make it possible to prevent rotation of the rotating device (3) when the twisting units (4) rotate to twist the hair tufts, and which makes it possible to block the twisting units (4) when the rotating device (3) rotates to collect the tufts pre-twisted by the twisting units (4).

A kit comprising a device according to any one of the preceding claims and the decorative elements (9).
