Description

Description
The invention relates to a furniture system with a furniture element. A furniture system known from DE 36 36 743 A1 discloses a shelf system for storing objects, such as for example books, decorative items and/or consumer electronic devices, in particular televisions, music systems, telephone systems and computers. The cabling required for the electrical devices is used in particular for supplying power but also for connecting individual components to one another. DE 10 2010 000 321 A1 discloses lightweight furniture parts with a frame structure and an inner middle layer. This type of lightweight furniture has a complex structure. WO 2006/100 295 discloses a furniture board with a core layer made from a honeycomb material. DE 10 2011 708 974 A1 relates to an individually manufactured functional board with integrated cable guides.
The objective of the present invention is to improve a furniture system such that any objects can be arranged advantageously in the furniture system, in a particularly aesthetically pleasing manner.
This objective is achieved by a furniture system comprising a furniture element having the features of claim 1. The core concept of the invention is that a furniture system comprises at least one furniture element which has a board-like main body with a cable channel arranged inside the main body. Within the meaning of this application the furniture system is defined as furniture which comprises at least one furniture element according to the invention. Such a furniture system can be a shelf system for example, in particular in the form of room divider, which comprises at least one, preferably horizontally oriented, shelf insert on which objects can be placed. A shelf system of this kind comprises at least one furniture element according to the invention which is preferably oriented to be vertical. A shelf system of this kind can be arranged to be free-standing in the room for example or can be fixed to a wall. Additional furniture systems are for example cupboards, wall cupboards, wardrobes, display cases, tables, beds, desks, benches, chests of drawers, TV boards, lowboards and stereo furniture. A cable can be guided through the cable channel, which is needed in particular for powering electronic devices and/or for connecting devices for example by data cables or loudspeaker cables. The cabling is not visible on the outside of the furniture element. The cabling is hidden. Such a furniture element allows advantageous cable guiding which satisfies in particular even the highest aesthetic requirements of a user. The cable channel comprises at least one first opening, which is arranged in particular adjacent to the electronic end device, and a second opening, which is arranged in particular adjacent to a power supply. The first opening is used in particular for feeding a cable, in particular a power cable. The second opening is used in particular for guiding the cable, in particular the power cable, out of the cable channel. The board-like main body comprises a first side surface and a second side surface opposite the first side surface. In particular, the side surfaces are oriented parallel to one another. This means that the main body has a constant board thickness. The side surfaces are connected to one another by an end face. The end face comprises a plurality of end face sections which extend along the circumference of the end face. In particular, the cable channel is arranged between the side surfaces of the main body. The openings, i.e. at least the first opening and at least the second opening are accessible via the side surfaces and/or via the end face of the main body.
In the furniture system a standing element connected to the main body is provided for positioning the furniture system on a base in a defined manner.
The furniture element has a layered structure for the main body, in particular a sandwich structure. The main body has an inner structure layer which is covered by a first side cover panel and an opposite second side cover panel. In addition, an end side cover can be provided in order to cover the end side of the structure layer. Such an embodiment of the main body enables an effective functional separation of the respective layers in the main body. In particular, the structure layer enables the main body to have a particularly rigid and stable structure. At the same time the side cover panels provide an aesthetically pleasing design of the furniture element. In particular, the side cover panels can be provided in different configurations, in particular in different colours, patterns and/or motifs, in order to design a furniture element according to the wishes of a customer. The side cover panels can be back-moulded plastic films. The side cover panels can be adhered to the structure layer.
The structure layer comprises a strength-increasing structural element, in particular a frame. The frame can be arranged in particular on the outside. The frame is in particular a solid bar. In addition, the structure layer has a reinforcing structure element, which is formed in particular by a honeycomb structure. The reinforcing structure element has a low weight and is thus designed to be lightweight. At the same time the reinforcing structure element has a high inherent rigidity, in particular with regard to bending out of the board plane of the board-like main body. In particular, the reinforcing structure element is arranged on the inside and in particular is surrounded at least partly by the strength-increasing structure element. The two structure elements can be adhered to one another. In the structure layer the functions of increasing strength and reinforcement are split between two structure elements so that both functions are addressed specifically. In particular, it is not necessary to fill the whole surface of the main body with a strength-increasing structure element. It is sufficient if the strength-increasing and simultaneously reinforcing structure element provides an at least partly peripheral frame of sufficient strength. In particular, the reinforcing structure element is designed to be lightweight so that the total weight of the structure layer and thus the total weight of the furniture element is reduced.
The cable channel is integrated into the structure layer, and in particular into the honeycomb structure. The cable channel is protected inside the main body. The fact that the cable channel is surrounded by the structure layer means that the cable channel is positioned in a defined manner inside the main body. A furniture element is particularly advantageous in which the cable channel is designed as a profile element, in particular as a plastic profile element. The cable channel thus has an inherent rigidity. The cable channel is designed to be robust. It is also possible in principle that the cable channel does not have its own housing in the form of a profile element. In this case the cable channel can be surrounded by surrounding elements, in particular by the structure layer and in particular the first and second side cover panel.
Alternatively, in the furniture element the cable channel can be designed such that at least one additional reinforcement element is provided. The at least one additional reinforcement element defines a cavity of the cable channel relative to the structure layer. In particular, at least two additional reinforcing elements are provided which are designed to be strip-like. The strips have a width which corresponds to a thickness of the structure layer. The strips form a reinforcement between the first and the second side surface of the main body. In this embodiment it is particularly advantageous that a complex profile element is not necessary for the formation of the cable channel. The additional reinforcing elements can be made in particular as strips from a medium density fibreboard.
With a furniture element, in which at least two first openings are provided, which are arranged in alignment in pairs and are accessible via the side surfaces of the main body, a user of the furniture system has many different options for laying the cable. In particular, in a furniture system, which can be designed for example as a shelf system and has a visually continuous shelf base which is connected on both sides, i.e. to both side surfaces of the main body of the furniture element, the flexibility of the arrangement of the electronic device is increased. The electronic device can be arranged for example on both sides of the furniture element. Feeding through both side surfaces into the cable channel is possible.
Feeding a cable through the cable channel is simplified in a furniture element where the cable channel has a linear cable channel longitudinal axis.
It is advantageous if a furniture element comprises a cover cap which can be fitted onto the main body to cover the first opening. In particular, the cover cap is designed to have an edge-side open cover cap opening. In this way it is possible to cover the first opening so that unintentional access to the cable channel is essentially not possible. At the same time the overall aesthetic appearance of the furniture element is improved as the cable guide and in particular the feeding of the cabling into the cable channel is not visible. The first opening has to be at least large enough so that not only the cable itself but also the plug for connecting to a power supply or an additional device can be fed through the opening. The cover cap provides the cover of the first opening. By means of the cover cap opening open at the edge the cable can be guided out of the first opening covered by the cover cap. In particular, the cover cap can comprise locking elements which cooperate with the first opening such that the cover cap is held securely in the opening, in particular against unwanted removal. A furniture element is advantageous in which the cover cap has a cover cap pivot axis opposite the cover cap opening. In this way it is possible that the cover cap remains secured for example by a cover cap frame on the first opening of the furniture element, wherein a cover cap lid pivotable relative to the cover cap frame can be pivoted in order to simplify access to the cable channel for the user. In particular, it is not necessary to remove the cover cap from the first opening. A furniture element is advantageous with at least one connecting element of the main body for connecting to at least one additional element. The additional element can be for example an additional furniture element within the meaning of the present application. The additional element can also be a stand element or a foot element, a cover and/or an insert base. In particular, a pin, a screw connector, a bore for receiving a pin or the like is used as the connecting element.
Particularly preferably, the at least one connecting element is arranged adjacent to the first opening. In this way it is possible that adjacent to the first opening for example an insert base can be provided for a shelf system. An electronic device can be placed on such an insert base. Due to the adjacent arrangement of the first opening relative to the connecting elements the first opening is also arranged adjacent to the insert base. A cable can be hidden in the furniture element advantageously and in a visually appealing manner. A furniture element is advantageous in which the side cover panels each have at least one side surface opening, which is designed to be in the form of an elongated hole. The effort of producing such a first side surface opening is considerably reduced. In particular, the machine costs are reduced. The elongated hole-like first side surface opening can be produced for example in a feedthrough process. It is not necessary to use a processing centre. The time needed to produce the first side surface opening is reduced by about 95%. The side surface opening can also be designed to be round, rectangular, square, triangular, hexagonal or octagonal.
It is advantageous if the stand element is aligned parallel to the base and in particular horizontally. The furniture element is arranged such that the cable channel is oriented essentially vertically. An inclination of up to 15° relative to the vertical is defined as being oriented to be essentially vertical within the meaning of this application. A furniture system is advantageous in which the stand element comprises a through channel with a first stand element opening corresponding with the second opening and with a second stand element opening. Such a furniture system enables a connection of the cable channel of the furniture element with the through channel of the stand elements such that a continuous channel is formed for feeding through a cable. Preferably, the stand element openings are provided on an upper and lower side of the preferably horizontally arranged stand element. A cable can be guided through the stand element and lead out on a lower side of the stand element, which represents in particular a floor element of the furniture system and is guided underneath the furniture system.
One the one hand the cable is not noticeable and on the other hand it is laid to be easily accessible.
Both the features described in the claims and the features described in the following example embodiment of the furniture element according to the invention are suitable either alone or in combination to refine the subject matter according to the invention. The respective combination of features are not restrictive with respect to the developments of the subject matter of the invention but are essentially given by way of example.
Further features, advantages and details of the invention are described in the following description of example embodiments with reference to the drawing. In the latter:
Fig. 1 is a front view of a furniture system comprising a furniture element according to one example embodiment of the invention,
Fig. 2 is a perspective exploded view of the furniture element in Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the furniture element in Fig. 2,
Fig. 4 is an enlarged perspective sectional view of a further example embodiment of the invention,
Fig. 5 is a perspective exploded view according to Fig. 2 of a furniture element according to a further embodiment of the invention and
Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the furniture element in Fig. 5 according to Fig. 3.
In the following with reference to Fig. 1 to Fig. 3 a first example embodiment of the invention is described. A furniture system 1 shown as a whole in Fig. 1 is designed as a shelf system, in particular in the form of a room divider.
The furniture system 1 is designed to be grid-like. The furniture system 1 comprises two vertically oriented side walls 2, a base 4 arranged on feet 3 and a top 5. By means of the feet 3, the base 4, representing a standing element, is positioned on a floor 6 in a defined manner. Because of the feet 3 the lower side of the base 4 is arranged spaced apart from the floor 6. A resulting intermediate space 7a between the base 4 and the floor 6 has a height h which is determined by the height of the feet 3.
Between the top 5 and the base 4 there are two furniture elements 7 parallel to the side walls 2. Between a side wall 2 and a furniture element 7 and between the two furniture elements 7 a plurality of shelves 8 are arranged. The shelves 8 are used to support objects, such as for example decorative objects 9 and electronic devices 10. According to the shown example embodiment the electronic devices 10 are a TV, a table lamp, a DVD player and a music system.
In a middle section of the furniture system 1 a rear wall 11 is provided between two shelves 8 and two furniture elements 7. The other compartments of the furniture system 1 do not have a rear wall.
The electronic devices 10 require connection to an electrical power source. For this the electrical devices each have a current-carrying cable 12 with a plug 13. In addition, further cable connections can be provided which are not shown in detail. Said additional cable connections can be used for example to connect the DVD recorder to the TV for transmitting signals.
The cables 12 are guided through the left furniture element 7 shown in cross-section in Fig. 1 downwards towards the base 4, through the base 4 into the intermediate space 7a. For this purpose the base 4 has a through channel 36 which comprises a first stand element opening 37 and a second stand element opening 38. The first stand element opening 37 faces the furniture element 7. The first stand element opening 37 is provided on an upper side of the base 4.
The second stand element opening 38 is arranged on the lower side of the base 4, i.e. facing the intermediate space 7a. The stand element openings 37, 38 are arranged in alignment along a longitudinal axis of the through channel 36. The cables 12 are guided out in the region of the intermediate space 7a to the side to the left so that the plugs 13 are arranged outside the furniture system 1. The plugs 13 can be inserted into a socket of a power source for supplying power to the electronic devices 10.
In the following with reference to Fig. 2 and 3 the structure of the furniture elements 7 for feeding through a cable is explained in more detail. The furniture element 7 comprises a board-like main body 14 which has a layered structure. The main body 14 has a so-called sandwich structure. The main body 14 has an inner structure layer 15, a first side cover panel 16 shown on the left in Fig. 2 and a second side cover panel 7 shown on the right in Fig. 2 and an essentially peripheral end side cover 18. The first side cover panel 16 has an outwardly directed first side surface 19. The second side cover panel 17 has a second side surface 20 facing away from the first side surface 19 and arranged opposite it. The side cover panels 16, 17 are designed to be essentially identical. The side cover panels 16, 17 are made in particular from a medium-density fibreboard. The side cover panels 16, 17 have for example a thickness of 2 mm to 6 mm. The end side cover 18 comprises two vertical end face sections and a horizontal end face section connecting the two vertical end faces. It is also possible that a second horizontal end face section is provided which is arranged opposite the first, upper horizontal end face section on a lower side of the end side cover 18. Such a lower, horizontal end face section, which is not shown in Fig. 2 and 3, forms a lower closure for the end face cover. The horizontal and vertical end face sections form together an end face 21 of the end face cover 18. The end face 21 faces outwards.
The structure layer 15 comprises an essentially peripheral frame 22. The frame 22 is made according to the shown example embodiment of high density fibre board HDF with a density of at least 800 kg/m3. Also other materials are possible for the production of the frame 22. The frame 22 is designed to be essentially rectangular and comprises a recess 23. The frame 22 is made from a solid material in the form of a peripheral bar. The frame 22 is arranged on the outside in the structure layer 15. The frame 22 forms a strength-increasing structure element.
The structure layer 15 also comprises a reinforcing structure element in the form of a honeycomb structure 24. The honeycomb structure 24 is made of cardboard. Other materials are possible for making the honeycomb structure 24, such as for example paper, aluminium and/or plastic film. The honeycomb structure has a reduced weight but high rigidity. The honeycomb structure 24 is designed to be lightweight. Owing to the cavities in the honeycomb structure the latter has insulating properties, in particular for thermal and acoustic insulation. According to the shown example embodiment the honeycomb structure 24 is designed in two parts with two honeycomb structure elements which are arranged spaced apart from one another.
Between the two honeycomb structure elements a plastic profile element 25 is provided as a cable channel. The cable channel 25 has a linear cable channel longitudinal axis 26. In a plane perpendicular to the cable channel longitudinal axis 26 the cable channel 25 has a rectangular cross-section. Other cross-sectional forms for the cable channel 25 are possible. It is also possible that the two honeycomb structure elements of the honeycomb structure 24 are connected together, for example in an upper area facing the horizontal end face section. The cable channel comprises six first openings 27. The first openings 27 are used respectively as a feed opening, in order to feed a cable 12 of an electronic device 10 to the cable channel 25. The first openings 27 are arranged aligned and opposite one another in pairs on side walls 35 of the cable channel 25. This means that the cable channel 25 according to the shown example embodiment has three pairs of opposite arranged first openings 27.
The furniture element 7 is produced in accordance with board and frame technology.
The side cover panels 16, 17 each have three side surface openings 28 through which the first openings 27 of the cable channel 25 are accessible. According to the shown example embodiment the side surface openings 28 in the side cover panels 16, 17 are designed to be rectangular. In particular, for manufacturing reasons it is advantageous to design the side surface openings 28 as elongated holes. The cable channel 25 also comprises a second opening 29. According to the shown example embodiment the second opening 29 is arranged on a lower end side of the cable channel 25. The second opening 29 is arranged in a plane perpendicular to the cable channel longitudinal axis 26. The first openings 27 are arranged according to the shown embodiment in a plane parallel to the cable channel longitudinal axis 26.
In particular, from the representation according to Fig. 3, in which side cover panels 16, 17 are not shown for reasons of clarity, it is clear that the cable channel 25 is fitted between the two elements of the honeycomb structure 24. The cable channel 25 is arranged with a lower end in the region of the second opening 29 in the recess 23 of the frame 22. This means that the second opening 29 is accessible via the recess 23 in the region of the end face 21 of the main body 14.
It is also possible not to have the plastic profile element as the cable channel. In this case the cable channel 25 is designed as a cavity between the two elements of the honeycomb structure 24 on the one hand and between the two side cover panels 16,17 on the other hand and the frame 22.
Of course, it is also possible that the openings provided in the side walls 35 of the cable channel 25 are used as second openings within the meaning of the application, for example if a power supply is integrated into a furniture system or a connecting cable needs to be guided for transferring data from a first electronic device to a second electronic device.
Instead of the honeycomb structure 24 a different reinforcing structure is also possible.
In particular, the cable channel 25 is adhered to the honeycomb structure and/or the frame 22.
On the side surface openings 28 in the side cover panels 16, 17 a cover cap 30 is fitted respectively and in particular engaged in the side surface opening 28 and/or the first opening 27. The first opening 27 is covered by the fitted cover cap 30. The cover cap 30 has a cover cap frame 31. Furthermore, the cover cap 30 has an edge-side open cover cap opening 32. Opposite the cover cap opening 32 a cover cap pivot axis 33 is provided about which a cover cap cover 34 of the cover cap 30 on the cover cap frame 31 can be pivoted. According to the shown example embodiment the cover cap pivot axis 33 is oriented to be horizontal. It is also possible that the cover cap pivot axis 33 is oriented to be vertical. The cable 12 can be guided through the cover cap opening 32 when the cover cap cover 34 is closed.
In particular, the stand element 4 is designed to be essentially similar to the furniture element 7. The stand element openings 37, 38 correspond with the openings 27, 29 through which the through channel 36 is accessible. The through channel 36 is a cable channel. The cabling is lead away via the stand element opening 37 to and over the stand element opening 38 arranged on the opposite side. The main body itself, i.e. the side surfaces, the end face and the layer structure of the main body of the stand element 4, corresponds to that of the furniture element 7. The stand element 4 is a furniture element according to the invention.
Fig. 4 shows an additional embodiment of a furniture element 39. Components which corresponds to those that have been explained above with reference to Fig. 1 to 3 have the same reference numerals and are not discussed again in detail.
The main difference is that in the furniture element 39 the second opening 29 is arranged on the first side surface 19 of the furniture element 39. The second opening 29 of the cable channel 25 is accessible via a side surface opening 28 in the first side cover panel 16 and covered by means of a cover cap 30. The first opening 27 is arranged similar to the first example embodiment over a side surface opening 28 on the second side surface of the second side cover panel, which is not shown for illustrative reasons in Fig. 4. The first opening 27 and the second opening 29 are arranged on opposite side surfaces of the main body 14. The first opening 27 and the second opening 29 are not in alignment along a plate thickness direction. The cable channel 25 is oriented vertically in the furniture element 39. Along this vertical direction the first opening 27 and the second opening 29 are arranged offset relative to one another. As the second side cover panel with the second side surface is not shown, the structure of the furniture element 39 is visible. Similar to the furniture element according to the first embodiment the furniture element 39 has a frame 22 and honeycomb structures 24 which surround the cable channel 25. In particular, the frame 22 is closed on a lower side surface, i.e. without a recess. In this way the stability and rigidity of the frame 22 are increased further.
The furniture element 39 is preferably a side wall of a furniture system such as for example a shelf system or a room divider. It is also possible that the furniture element 39 represents a rear wall of a furniture system. In this case a cable 12 can be guided unobtrusively to the rear, in particular towards a room wall, on which for example a socket is arranged for an electrical power supply.
In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4 of the furniture element 39 it is thus not necessary for the cable 12 to be guided through two adjoining furniture elements. The cable 12 is guided outwards by a single furniture element 39, i.e. out of the furniture system 1.
Fig. 5 and 6 show an additional embodiment of a furniture element 40. Components corresponding to those explained above with reference to Fig. 1 to 4 have the same reference numerals and are not discussed again in more detail. An essential difference of the furniture element 40 from the one shown in Fig. 1 to 3 is the design of the cable channel 42. The cable channel 42 is designed so that two reinforcing elements 41 are arranged as a delimitation on the honeycomb structures 24. Thee reinforcing elements 41 are designed respectively as MDF strips with a width b, which corresponds to a thickness d of the honeycomb structures 24. This means that the reinforcing elements 41 are used as additional reinforcement for the structure layer. The reinforcing elements can also be made from a different material. The free space remaining between the reinforcing elements 41 forms the cable channel 42. The cable channel 42 is designed in a particularly uncomplicated manner. In particular, the use of a complex designed profile element is not necessary. The surfaces of the cable channel 42 facing the side surfaces 19, 20 are not necessary. The cable channel 42 is open inside the structure layer 15 to the side surfaces 19, 20.
It is possible that the frame 22 does not comprise the transverse element arranged at the top.
