Abstract
A cable sealing device 1 is designed to seal the area between two or more leads 3 in a cable 2, and the area between the leads 3 and the outer sheath 5 of the cable at a place where the leads 3 protrude out of the outer sheath 5. The cable sealing device 1 consists of a cylindrical cable sleeve 8, an insulating part 10 which can be inserted in the cable sleeve 8 and a sealing material in the form of an insulating setting compound 11 for filling the cable sleeve 8. The insulating part 10 comprises a tubular part with a central channel and radially projecting tongues 13, which in cross-section form a star, and between which tongues 13 the free leads 3 of the cable are arranged coaxially. For a distance a inside the cable sleeve 8 the free leads 3 are stripped of insulation and tinned. In this way a cable sealing device is obtained, particularly for drum motors, which effectively prevents oil from seeping out of the drum motor through the cable. In a method for sealing the abovementioned area between the leads 3 in a cable 2 and the area between the leads 3 and the outer sheath 5 of the cable, the abovementioned cable sealing device is used, and the method is concluded by first injecting a compound 11 into the bottom of the central channel of the insulation part 10 using a nozzle and thereafter by slowly withdrawing the nozzle while injecting the compound. In this way the formation of air pockets in the cable sleeve 8 is prevented. <IMAGE>
