Description
The present invention relates to a wall covering system consisting of at least one wall covering profile and clamping holder, and also to a method for mounting the wall covering system.
Wall coverings protect free-standing walls and piles permanently against weather effects and, moreover, they fulfil aesthetic purposes. From the prior art, such as for example NL 8 301 857 or US 5 893 247, systems according to the preamble to claim 1 are known, comprising wall covering profiles in the form of bent metal sheets which are laid on a sub-structure of clamping holders. In this case the profiles are attached on the outside of the holder and are clamped over to the inside. However, this type of mounting is complicated and necessitates a professional design. Moreover it involves a risk of damage. A simplified method for mounting wall covering profiles on clamping holders is disclosed by CA 2 156 516. However, in such a device the overclamping of the wall covering profile can be difficult due to twisting of the projections on the underside of the profile or of the clamping holder {CA 2 196 516: Figure (44; 46; 56; 58)).
It is therefore an object of the invention to improve the prior art and to provide a simpler installable wall covering system.
This object is achieved by the system according to claim 1 and also by the method according to claim 7. Advantageous embodiments are the subj ect matter of the subordinate claims.
According to the invention the wall covering profile consists of a flat material and preferably has resilient characteristics. The thickness and width of the flat material can be dimensioned according to the required tensile strength. Moreover the flat material is curved in such a way that an upper section is produced which is suitable for covering the upper face of a wall, as well as two lateral legs facing each other, which are suitable for covering the side walls of the wall or parts thereof.
In this case the upper section can be constructed orthogonally with respect to the lateral legs, but it can also have a stepped or any other cross-section. In order to protect the wall effectively against moisture, it may be advantageous to allow water incident on the upper section in the event of rain to flow off in a suitable manner, This is preferably achieved by an inclination of the upper section at a predetermined angle. Additionally or alternatively, on at least one lower edge of the wall covering profile so-called dripping noses are provided which, spaced apart from the wall, ensure that the water is drained off.
The mounting of the wall covering profiles on the wall itself takes place by means of so-called clamping holders, which likewise have an upper section and two lateral legs facing each other, and can be mounted on the wall itself by suitable securing means. In this case the lateral legs of the clamping holder can bear directly against the wall, but they can likewise be spaced apart from the wall at a certain angle. Rubber seals are advantageously provided on the clamping holders, which on the one hand prevent the penetration of water up to the wall and on the other hand prevent noise in the event of bad weather or expansion of the wall profiles in the event of temperature fluctuations. In order to achieve the above-mentioned object of a simplified and reliable mounting of the wall covering system., at least one of the inner faces of the lateral legs of the wall covering profile has first engaging elements. In a complementary manner to these first engaging elements of the wall covering profile, second engaging elements are provided on at least one outer face of the lateral legs of the clamping holder itself at a corresponding location. The mounting of the wall covering profile on the clamping holder takes place by force fitting and/or advantageously also by form fitting of the first and second engaging elements.
In one embodiment of the present invention, the at least one engaging element of the 'wall covering profile is designed in such a way that the flat material has on the at least one lateral leg an indentation in the form of a ribbing 'which is complementary to the at least one engaging element on the outer face of the lateral leg of the clamping holder.
In an embodiment according to the invention the flat material is bent over on at least one lateral leg in such a way that the lateral legs are formed as double walls. According to the invention at least one engaging element is provided on the inner face of the double wall, so that the outer face of the double wall has no indentation. Moreover, it may be advantageous that dripping noses are formed automatically by the bending over of the flat material on at least one lower edge of the double walled lateral legs. Moreover, the double wall is constructed so that a spring pretensioning remains so that, for mounting, the wall covering profile is slid over the corresponding clamping holder by force fitting.
The respective engaging elements can be formed as indentations or projections as concave or convex structures, in particular in the form of spherical, triangular or rectangular structures or spherical segments. According to the invention it. is provided that the respective engaging elements of the 'wall covering profile and of the corresponding clamping holder preferably interengage by form fitting.
In order to connect two wall profiles to one another a system according to the invention is provided which advantageously consists of a mounting pin and a prestressing element.
Details, advantages and further developments of the invention are explained, in greater detail with the aid of the embodiments with reference to the drawings. In the drawings:

Figure 3 shows a system consisting of a ’wall covering profile and a clamping holder;
Figures 4a. - 4e show cross-sections of different engaging elements of a wall covering profile;
Figures 5a - 5c show cross-sections of non-inventive wall covering systems with different non-inventive wall covering profiles;
Figure 6 shows a cross-section of a mounting pin;
Figure 7 shows a plan view of a mounting pin.
Figure 1 shows the cross-section of a wall covering profile 1 in a non-inventive design with an upper section 2 and two lateral legs 3, 4, wherein geometric contours are formed as first engaging elements 3b, 4b on the inner faces 3a, 4a of the lateral legs. Dripping noses 5 are provided on the lower edge of the lateral legs 3, 4. In this embodiment the engaging elements 3b, 4b are designed in such a way that beads form on the outer face of the lateral legs 3, 4 .
Figure 2 shows the cross-section of a clamping holder 10, with an upper section 20 and two lateral legs 30, 40, on the outer faces 30a, 40a of which geometric contours which are complementary to the first engaging elements 3b, 4b are formed as second engaging elements 30b, 40b. The outer face 30a, 4 0a, is at least partially surrounded by a rubber seal 15. The clamping holder can be connected directly to the wall by' suitable securing means.
Figure 3 shows a wall covering system consisting of a wall covering profile 1 in an embodiment according to the invention and a clamping holder 10. The wall covering profile 1 is disposed by-pushing over the clamping holder, wherein the first engaging elements 3b, 4b engage by force fitting and/or by form fitting in the second engaging elements 30b, 40b and thus secure the wall covering profile 1 against, vertical displacement. In this embodiment according to the invention the lateral legs 3, 4 of the wall covering profile 1 are constructed as double walls, wherein the engaging elements 3b, 4b are formed on the inside of the double wall. Dripping noses 5 can be advantageously constructed on the lower edge of the lateral legs 3, 4 by bending the flat material round to form double walls.
Figures 4a - 4e show engaging elements 3b, 4b in different embodiments .
Figures 5a - 5c show non-inventive wall covering systems in different embodiments .
Figure 6 snows a wall covering system, consisting of a clamping holder 10' and a mounting pin 6, as ’well as a prestressing element 7, in particular a. cup spring or a compression spring. The mounting pin 6 preterably has a miadle shaft 62, on the upper end of which a head 61 is provided. Spaced apart from this head are two projections 63 which face one another, wherein the spacing between the head 61 and the projections 63 is dimensioned so that the wall covering profiles 1 can be inserted by form fitting. The prestressing element 7 is preferably provided below these projections 63. The two projections 63 preferably extend radially like tongues in diametrically opposite directions, as do the two projections 66, wherein preferably the radial extent of the projections 66 is less than that of the projections 63. The spacing between the head 61 and the first projections 63 is constructed as an undercut and is dimensioned so that the wall covering profile thickness can be fitted between them. Furthermore, on the wall covering profiles 1 notches which can preferably have a semicircular configuration are provided at the locations at which the mounting pins 6 are inserted. The spacing between two wall covering profiles to be connected is selected so that it can accommodate the change in length due to temperature fluctuations, preferably between 5 and 10 mm.
Moreover, the clamping holder 10' has at least one first drilled hole 65' and a second drilled hole 66' into which an end piece 65 can be inserted with two second projections 66 facing each other. By turning of the pin 6 by a predetermined angle the projections 66 are inserted by form fitting into the second drilled hole 66' and the wall covering profiles 1 are secured against horizontal displacement. The outer face of the clamping holder 10' is at least partially surrounded by at least one rubber seal 15'.
To summarise, a wall covering system according to claim 1 consisting of a wall covering profile 1 and a clamping holder 10 are described, wherein the wall covering profile 1 has first engaging elements 3b, 4b which can engage in second engaging elements 30b, 40b of the clamping holder 10, thus guaranteeing a simple mounting of the wall covering system. The wall covering profiles 1 can be connected to one another by the mounting pin.
